Elton John saw something special in Taron Egerton from the beginning! The 30-year-old actor dished about his first meeting with the legendary musician while chatting with Access Hollywood's Mario Lopez on the red carpet at the 2020 Golden Globes. Taron revealed discussions for his role in "Rocketman" began after Elton's unforgettable appearance in 2017's "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" - and the rest is fate!

Rami Malek did an excellent job portraying Freddie Mercury. Taron Egerton did a great job portraying Elton John. And now I know Jennifer Hudson will do a great job portraying Aretha Franklin in her new biopic! The Queen of Soul personally chose her for the job. I love all these films portraying musical legends!

Aw, it was so cute though - he was trying to be more respectful than saying "Elton" and American's don't have Sir's so cut him some slack. I thought it was cute that he tripped over it. Also cool that he was able to conduct a nice little red carpet interview when he's gone to his concert 5 times, so a true fan. He knew about the "Sir" from the way he said it in the beginning.

If he was an alcoholic, he's not anymore. He & Sir Elton have both been sober for many, many years - since back in the early '90s.

Read Elton John book. He said David went to rehab for alcohol. It was not 20 years ago.

nonnamadonna , Elton went into rehab in the summer of 1990. David went only a few years ago. Both boys had already been born.

That's interesting because I've heard Elton say in interview that he can't bear to be around people who drink alcohol & take drugs. If that's true, I guess he made an exception with David's drinking. Love conquers all!!!
