This song was released in 1988; yet Elton John also released quite a number of songs back in the 1970s! Those include: "Philadelphia Freedom", "Rocket Man", "Tiny Dancer", and "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" (duet with Kiki Dee).

Great song in so many ways. The phonetics in the lyrics just pop and rhyme, Bernie Taupin must be proud of this one. I'd love to hear a hard rock Metallica-style band do a cover of this. It feels like a rock song styled as pop.

Good point. Kind of gets lost in the shuffle of I'm Still Standing and That's Why They Call It The Blues. This and Nikita should be in the 80s rotation as well.

I always think about that. This song was HUGE. Then it disappeared completely. It's like some songs just fade away. I think when the 90s hit with all the new styles, grunge, etc, this just sounded too old fashioned. But it should get some love.

They do play some of his 80s stuff but most of his best songs were from the 70s. He spent most of the late 80s getting wrecked sadly.

I'm not sure, the only 2 songs from the 80's I hear are "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" and "I'm Still Standing", I wish they would play this song more often, I agree this was one of his best songs.

I had forgotten how visually awesome this video was.. even for 1988, this was shot really well. My hats off, to Sir. Elton John and whoever the DP and video editor was. When I hear this song, it immediately takes me to high school. I am so grateful to have had great tunes like this growing up. I love the keyboard playing towards the end..just masterful.

1988 was packed with great music. This is one of the songs I instantly think of. Hard to believe 1988 was 33 years ago and as a fifteen year old then I thought music like this would be made forever.
