I love this album. Elton John’s early albums were absolute masterpieces! Great choice and commentary. Thanks Harri and DJBilodeau 🌺✌️

Another great song by the legendary Elton John. I think his earliest work is his best, just imo. His early albums were played from the beginning to the very last song. They might have called the songs fillers, but they were all wonderful songs- not just the hit singles. The best of the best. Thanks for the submission and the reaction 🎉

From Elton's first album throughout his entire career, I have enjoyed nearly every one of his songs, albums, and concerts. You chose a great one to submit. Well done DJB and Harri. 👏👏

No glitz, no glamour. Just wonderful ballads on this Masterpiece album. My All-Time Favorite Elton John album, it has FOUR songs that are in my Top Twenty Elton Songs of All Time: Tiny Dancer, Levon, Indian Sunset, and Holiday Inn. I always listen to the whole album start to finish. This song, along with every other song on the album, is wonderful.

Madman has been my first Elton John album for years. The four songs you mentioned there are four that l love too, and its nice to see an absolute favourite, Holiday Inn, an underrated song in my view along with another great one, Rotten Peaches. As with many artists it's the 'deep cuts' of his l love the most, such as The Ballad of Danny Bailey, Tower of Babel, No Shoestrings on Louise, Amy, The Ballad of the Boy in the Red Shoes and Cage the Songbird to name a few. 😅

Caleb Quaye's guitar playing on this song - You know who it is as soon as you hear it. It's a fat, funky, chunky, squawking bluesy guitar sound. He has a new documentary that won first place at the Cannes Film Festival. It's called "A Voice Louder Than Rock and Roll".

You'll have to double check this, Harri, but another reaction show host looked up the organ player on this song, and it turns out it's Rick Wakeman of the group Yes. With Elton two high powered keyboard players at work!

There's an Accordion on this track. played by Jack Emblow according to Google.

If you want to see how Davey Johnstone, presently Elton's musical director of the band, affects the mix when he joins the band, check out my suggestion "Hercules" by Elton John. I think you'll be blown away.

An old wino that always needs a shave. He had definitely seen better days. Full of stories about past glories. That's what I imagine this character being. Taupin always leaves big gaps that anyone can fill in.
@DJBilodeauАй бұрын
Well, when it comes to Elton John, you'll have to ask his lyricist and music partner Bernie Taupin what he had in mind when he wrote these lyrics. Also, we'll have to look up the guitarist on this one, as Davey Johnstone would not join the classic Elton John lineup until the next album, Honky Chateau in 1972. But two other pieces of the puzzle, drummer Nigel Olsson (previously of the Spencer Davis Group) and Dee Murray on bass.
@phillipharrison7283Ай бұрын
Davey Johnstone actually did play on three tracks of this album. Roger Pope was the drummer and various bass players including Herbie Flowers, Brian Odgers and David Glover. Nigel and Dee only credited as being on one of the albums tracks 'All The Nasties'. On 'Razor Face', were Pope and Glover. The Guitarist was Caleb Quaye, accordionist Jack Emblow, with as previously mentioned Rick Wakeman on organ. ✌

A little gospel, a little blues, a little rock, and a good story. About a homeless man?
