Elvie disassembly battery access dead battery revitalize procedure

Elvie disassembly to get at the battery or fixing internals. You will need a T9 and a common screw drivers for disassembly. Cellphone disassembly tools work better by not marring the plastic shell. Go very slow when removing the retaining plastic ring only allowing enough give to slide it out. Once it is broke it is broke, no replacements unless within warranty. Putting it back together is in reverse and everything should snap back in place. Parallel charging to revitalize the battery brings up the voltage so that it is recognising that there is a battery to charge. You can look up "parallel charging" for more technical information. I used speaker wire and using enough strands to fit the plug and touch the positive wire to the positive side of battery and negative wire to negative side of battery for a few seconds. Any 3.7v battery will do. Then test to see if the Elvie charges. I have another video that bypasses the disassembly and goes straight to the parallel charging via mini USB attached to a 3.7v battery. Hope this helps. Comment if this helped you out.

You are a genius!! Worked the first time on both my wife’s Elvie pumps. Like some other folks said, I would suggest getting the Kaisi Electronics pry bar kit and starting with the opposing side on the plastic ring to minimize damage.

This worked brilliantly. I stripped an old USB cable (which worked great because the conductor is super thin and fits the pins on the battery connector easily) to get the 2x wires for positive/negative, and 'jumped' it via an AA battery. Waited a few seconds and then the unit charged as normal. Good man!

Thanks for posting this! I just revived one of our dead Elvie batteries using this method. I first tried the micro USB cable method to avoid disassembly, but the cable I used was of such low quality I couldn't get the wires stripped well enough. I ended up taking the Elvie apart (surprisingly easy) and connecting to a 9V battery with a snap connector I had on hand. The snap connector has really sturdy pigtail ends that slipped easily into the JST connector of the battery. I disconnected after about 30 seconds, reconnected the battery to the Elvie, connected micro USB from Elvie to computer and the LED lit up indicating charging! Wife and I are very happy we've resurrected this for our second child, and I'm happy I didn't have to mess around with a new battery and that 3-wire JST connector.

IT WORKED!!! I want to shout this from the rooftops! My children were born 2 years apart, so naturally just enough time for the warranty to lapse. Unfortunately the revitalization process in your other video didn’t work for us but I was able to reuse all of the supplies on this try. As others have mentioned, it’s definitely better to remove the hub clip from the thicker side first and not the one by the button as this helps prevent it from breaking. Secondly, the cell phone kit (Amazon: Kaisi Electronics) blue tool worked wonders to easily open the pump housing without marring it. I was able to use one of the battery trays I purchased for the revitalization process and use the pigtails direct from that to connect with the battery positive and negative ends here. Worked great and didn’t need to strip any cords. Thank you so much for posting this!

Thank you so much for posting this. My wife's pump died in storage and this got it working again. The non-disassembly method didn't work but this did first time. All elvie would offer is a 15 percent voucher in spite of the pump being easily serviceable!

This worked perfectly. I would advise using plastic pry bars like those used to disassemble cell phones and tablets, rather than prying the case open with a screwdriver this will prevent breaking or gouging the case.

Thanks for the video! I recommend an electronics spudger instead of the flat head screw driver. I used a DC variable voltage power supply set to constant voltage and connected it Instead of the battery. Needed to bring the voltage slowly up to about 3.5 before current started flow and whatever protection circuit is inside the battery was reset.

your step at 16s, do it the other way around, do not try to push in the press button (5-6mm thick), do the two opposite tabs (2mm), that represent much less stress on that plastic part!

For the archives, I had a slightly different issue with a dead Elvie. Something else to check: The ribbon cable connector to the button circuit board (adjacent to the battery connector plug) had corrosion. I removed the ribbon cable at the button circuit board, sprayed with electrical cleaner, reinstalled and it came back to life. You can see the connector in question at about 4:15 in this video.

I tried this on my elvie and even replaced the battery. Called the company and said it was a ghost hub because it doesn’t turn on but it makes a suction noise when I plug it in to charge it. The light turns on for a few seconds then goes off again. The company won’t replace it because I lost my receipt 🤦🏻‍♀️ got any ideas on how I can fix it?

Did you watch the video from beginning to end? I did mentioned the battery type I used and I corrected myself on the battery voltage @ 2:02 in that video. Any 3.7v battery will do. I do not know the consequences of using a 1.5v or higher voltage to parallel charge. You may be okay with 1.5v but not sure with a 9v battery. Good luck. Battery I used is a NiMh rechargeable battery. Search "battery revive" or parallel charging for more info.
