After Navy boot camp I got sent to Meridian Mississippi and this song was new. Cassettes were still pretty new then and 8-tracks were going out. Anyway, this was a big hit. In those days, when a good song came on, all the guys would rush to grab a girl to dance with before the"good ones" were snapped up. Even a guy with only a few good moves would get by with this one, although I'm not sure what the girls were thinking.

I am sorry about that Ben. that is not your fault grasshopper. But one good thing is that all that music i was lucky to experience is still out there for you to enjoy. Unfortunately you don't have to many forums that play that music. Not to mention you might not have a music nut like me turning you onto these great songs. I try that with my 12 yr old son and he just doesnt give my music a chance. He does like some of my music. All you have is today pop music stations that play the same 5-10 songs at least 25 times each everyday. we had FM radio which turned us onto albums. Songs that would never ever get airtime on a radio station. There are so so many great songs off albums that never got played on the radio other than so FM station who would play the entire album. Led Zeppelin is the prime example they never released singles. There biggest song Stairway to Heaven which is an epic icon of a song. NEVER was released as a single. You would have never heard that song on any AM Pop radio station. You had to either buy the album or listen to FM rock stations. One good thing about your age you will be here a lot longer than i will be.

Ben it is sad because there always has been great rock music all my life. I was not here in the 50's and was too young in the 60's. But growing up i heard all the 50-60's greats on the radio. The 60's-70's and most of the 80's rock music was at it pinnacle. It started to go down hill in the 90's. There is some good music in the 90's but rock is dying. You are right about today's kids and their attention span or lack of it. Yes it costs a boatload of money to see great artists today. Springsteen, Clapton, Aerosmith all cost top $$$. You can see some other great bands or what is left of them at smaller venues for $30-60 bones. I just took my 12 yr old to his first concert George Thorogood and he enjoyed it. You can see bands like STYX, Cheap Trick, Def Leppard and others for a decent price. I just seen STYX and Def Leppard a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. Now AC/DC, U2, Rolling Stones and the Eagles will be huge money. I seen Roger Waters do the wall and i paid $250 i seen Paul McCartney twice and paid $250 both times. That is way out of your range. It sucks because back in the day all those bands were about $12 bones.

+LesSmith45 Yes Sir,I must say as a life time Musician Myself,I'll agree with you 100% I started out in the early to mid 60's on guitar & as the old saying want to be guitarist comes a dime a dozen. So I switched over to Tenor Sax & it wasn't another Sax Player in my High School or within a 50 sq.radius that I knew of ..I took off forming my Own Group & We Played the Raleigh Coliseum in my Freshman Year for the Governor & all The NC.Agriculture Members..What a Ball the four of us had running around a that big circle of the Coliseum after we played...We didn't care what was going on inside as The Governor was Speaking..The Newspaper head-lined "British Sound takes a Country Rock Beat'..& they took our Pictures sitting on a Corvette Convertible as they ask each one of us a question...Askingh me how I came up with the name "The Dynamic" & me thinking fast replied The Dictionary. LOL..Great Memories of our first Big Show...Take Care & May God Bless!

We had a musical Renaissance that came from the FREEDOM to say and sing about anything whether it was frivolous, antiwar, or any of the other subjects that were of the day. And except for the Rolling Stones concert at Altamont, we never had brawls, fights, riots, etc that are so common at open air concerts today.
