It is impossible to overstate how huge of a hit this song was in 1976. It was everywhere. Written by Elvin Bishop, who came out of the 1960's Chicago blues scene. He knew his voice would not do the song justice. So he gave it to his back up singer Mickey Thomas to sing. The rest is history. Elvin plays a 1959 candy apple red Gibson ES345. WOW! As I write this I can assure you there are tears in my eyes and I’ve got the sniffles. 🎉I’m 68yrs old and I fell deeper in love with my wife because of this song! Unfortunately, I would lose her to cancer 3yrs later, just 7mos. After giving birth to our daughter. So, yeah, this has to be one of the best love songs ever! The voice, the guitar, the melody, EVERYTHING! And I get very emotional whenever I hear it! This is the first night I’ve seen your videos and watching your expressions make me smile! I’ll be watching (sometimes tearfully) alot more. Keep the 70s vibe going, I love it!

I've loved this song for more than 40 years and it still gets lots of airplay on the memory sticks I use in the car. I hear it often because it's part of my wife's "Dancercise" that she does in our living room a few times every week. Hi my dear... I never heard anything from Elvin Bishop, except the name. This is actually the very first song I ever heard of this band. And it's a good one ! But you know what I liked the most ? That you pay so much attention to the lyrics and emphasize on them in your thoughts after the song. It shows me how serious you always take your reactions and that you really want to listen carefully and experience everything and every song, no matter what it is. I loved the Elvin Bishop band, but to me, the best of Elvin was the singer: *Mickey Thomas.* What an amazing talented singer he is with an extraordinary voice.

It's not Elvin Bishop singing. It's Mickey Thomas who went on to sing with Jefferson Starship. He's got an exceptional voice. I just went to see him. He sounds exactly the same in his 70's. Check out the song Jane.
