All heart. I heard he's touring now! At 79! Wish I could see him. SF Jazz Club and I dk maybe Vegas. I count myself fortunate to have seen him many times in the 70s. What a guy. He really worked hard for his expertise too. Humble.. an underrated attribute of great worth. Peace

Got to say I've been acquainted with Elven and his family and is band members for many years. I've been fortunate enough to have had a long talk with him and he is a down to earth guy who keeps it real and he still does.

yep,he was my neighbor in san geronimo valley years ago....i was a teenager...always liked him. Goofy...and goofy is good.Pretty much lived all over since then. A little context here. This is before a George Thorogood concert. 1984 I believe. This is an interview with Bishop, who is one of the guys George had asked to come and perform, during his concert. He invited guys he loved and looked up to. The entire show is available on KZfaq.

A real recipe for disaster... 1. Elvin Bishop doesn't care for interviews (who does?) 2. Your average annoying video/audio crew and director who seemingly know nothing of their subject. 3. A disjointed routine, complete with bogus instructions like "Lean on your guitar". BTW: This interview is nowhere near 1976. Dollars-to-Donuts it was July 5, 1984.

@eightinches60943 жыл бұрын
I saw the "Santana Blues Band" in the summer of '69 before they played at Woodstock, they were unknown at the time. They were one of four or five opening bands with the headliner being The Grateful Dead. Great memories.
@chikkipop2 жыл бұрын
Earlier in '69, I was at the Avalon Ballroom with Elvin, and he pointed to a picture on the wall of a band that would be playing there the next week. He said they were gonna be huge. Later that summer I saw them at Woodstock. Of course, it was Santana.
