Baz Luhrmann latest film Elvis, released by Warner bros premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 25 with a standing ovation and international released June 24 The film has grossed $261 million worldwide against its $85 million budget, becoming the second-highest-grossing music biopic of all-time behind Bohemian Rhapsody.

The film explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). Austin Butler stated that one of the aspects about Elvis Presley that stood out to him was that he (Elvis) lost his mother at a young age. Butler also lost his mother at a young age. Both men were 23 years old when their mothers passed away. Austin felt that shared pain with Elvis and used his grief in his performance.

I would just like to add something, anytime I hear white people separating themselves from Black people makes me just want to cry. It breaks my heart every time I hear it how incredibly shameful. I’m just completely disgusted by it. I can’t understand it & I’ll never be able to wrap my head around their sense of entitlement & their better than anyone. How they behaved shows exactly the character of each one of them. I’ve never had a prejudiced bone in my body and it is literally impossible for me to grasp anyone else having the mentality that those ignorant people had

ELVIS the man was a winner and ELVIS the movie is a winner. Elvis gave SO MUCH to the planet and nation in the form of BROTHERHOOD and BELIEF in SPENDING TIME TOGETHER enjoying music, faith or BOTH. A great message of PEACE among a sea of CHAOS and HATE. The movie is going to win Oscars.

Hey Great reaction - loved it. Yes Lansky Bros does exist - in fact like most things with Elvis, he was a lifelong customer. When someone was good to him he never forgot and remained loyal. I believe the owner gave him access to the cloths he wanted before he could afford it 😀😀

BERNARD LANSKY -- HE PUT ELVIS IN HIS FIRST SUIT -- AND HIS LAST. Lansky's was and is real. Elvis' earlier 1950's dress sense marked him as a true style icon. Elvis found much of his clothing here, once he was able to afford it. Elvis' style feels particularly relevant today - Cuban collar shirts, wide-legged, pleated trousers, blousons - these are all garments making the rounds on the menswear circuit all over again, and they were integral to Elvis’ 1950s style wardrobe. He did it all first. And Bernard Lansky was the clothier and the tailor that helped make Elvis LOOK SHARP AS HELL!!

This movie shows just why the world fell in love with Elvis and millions do still love him today. Over 30,000 attended the annual candlelight vigil on the 45th anniversary of his death this past August 16. Elvis will never be forgotten.

Heard there was talk about a B.B. King miniseries with Wendell Pierce in the title role, but that was before Covid so who knows when or how that's going to happen.

Austin Butler may have won a Golden Globe, but not an Oscar because Brendan Fraser won an Oscar for his performance in The Whale.

I loved this movie, as many have - Austin Butler was 1 of the most convincing as Elvis in his performance moves, in the way he carried himself full stop with the way he spoke and the tone spoke with that shouted out Elvis and made you forget it was Butler whilst watching it. That is the true mark of someone's total dedication and talent over not just months but 2 years work this guy put in to prepare for playing him and nailing it! One element I liked so much alone about this is it finally gives true justice to how integral Elvis and the whole music scene back in that Memphis era of other performers who were obviously black rather than of Elvis's white man demographic, were so integral to each other how they fed off off each other musically, creatively etc. It finally shows the magnitude on screen of how 1 complimented and liked the other which should finally ensure to a young audience now to not fall into all these more recent time absolute vile with no place in fact nonsense about him having been a racist which when first saw a KZfaq reactor having thought that from what had heard, couldn't believe wasn't having a dream! That element of this movie has been so needed to show Elvis for who he was liking people whatever their skin colour was! I could go but already tired hope I've put all that in a good way that makes sense.

What annoyed me is during the clip for Trouble, Baz Luhrmann in his typical turbo editing style cut to Tom Hanks too much. Nobody wants to see Hanks in a fat suit during that song, it should have been all Austin Butler. So irritating! I’ve never liked Luhrmann’s juxtaposition editing. He comes across as totally ADD. I’m an Aussie, I’ll happily criticise a fellow countryman

It's a piece of commercialized GARBAGE and Austin Butler's "performance" is akin to a sleazy impersonator in a Vegas lounge. No real fan of Elvis supports this appalling film.

I am a REAL ELVIS FAN. I promise you MILLIONS of "REAL ELVIS FANS" watched this movie and were thrilled with it. There is NOONE ALIVE that could have played Elvis and acted that greater in the movie than Mr Butler.. Austin has made MILLIONS of new Elvis fans already - and without THIS GENERATION picking up the torch ELVIS' legacy DIES. Austin pulled off an OSCAR WINNING PERFORMANCE and I believe we will see TOM CRUISE sitting in his clapping for the 2023 BEST LEAD ACTOR winner -- Austin Butler at the next Oscars show for his awesome portrayal of Elvis Presley.

qso 356 That is your opinion but you’re in the minority! I’ve been a huge Elvis fan since I was a kid and I’m 70 now. I loved this movie so much that I bought it so I can watch it anytime I want. Saw him twice in concert in 1974. TCB⚡️
