His moves were better than Elvis? You’ve got to be kidding. No way anyone can achieve Elvis Presley’s personna. First off.., you are very young or you are just now discovering Elvis Presley. Yes, Austin has done a fantastic job of capturing Elvis… Better than anyone at this point with exception to Kurt Russell. No one will ever capture Elvis Presley. I agree Austin does deserve an Oscar for his role, and here is the important part…. For Portraying Elvis! No one will ever move the way Elvis moved, no one has the vocal range of Elvis Presley …… you were listening to Elvis Presleys voice in the movie, Austin was “Acting” as Elvis…. He’s not and never will be Elvis. You need to watch more live performances of the King. Watch Bosa Nova from “ Fun in Alcapulco”. Tell me he moves like Elvis. Aloha from Hawaii… watch it….. you will be moved. Wish you could of seen him live, you would of lost your sense of reality.

Well, like Leo he started on tv doing all kinds of guest spots on nick at nite, Disney, etc. Then teen movies, Shannara chronicles, and finally Broadway and once upon a time in Hollywood with Brad and Leo. In fact it mimics what happened to Leo when he did Romeo and Juliet except Leo was still a teen. Austin was 28 when he started this movie. He's very experienced and that's why he was able to do it and why he's comfortable in interviews. I'm shocked at the amount of interviews he's done as a kid. I feel though with elvis the ideal portrayal would be a tv series...I am a massive tupac fan who was also a larger than life character within the hip hop era..way before social media,but the movie on his life was a letter down, it was a quick skim through his life and never got into who he really was and how he effected people..again I think a series would be ideal.

@@Docdoherty13 : There was a TV series in 1990 and another in 2005. As I recall, both were decent. Look at interviews with Austin before he played Elvis and now aftere...see the difference in his voice?
@JonathanPOyen Жыл бұрын
A major theme in the recent movie, “Elvis,” is, “Colonel Parker bad man.” For those who do not who Parker was, he was Elvis’ manager from a little after Elvis’ discovery to until his death. A known claim is that Parker took great advantage of Elvis, being more concerned for his own welfare, in the form of money, than Elvis’ welfare in the form of same and, more importantly, in the form of mental and physical health. In contrast to what the movie portrays, Sonny West, Elvis' friend and personal body guard, a member of the “Memphis Mafia,” had nice things to say about Parker. During a presentation that he gave (Up Close & Personal with Sonny West) after the passing of both Elvis and Parker, he said, "But Colonel, to make a bad decision with all that he had to make ... I'm going to tell you something. I'll tell you this and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Colonel Parker ... If I could go to my grave and make half of the right decisions that he made regarding Elvis, I would be very happy that I had really, really accomplished more than I ever thought I could … and along with that, I would take all the bad decisions that he's made and I'd take all of them and I'd still be way outbalanced. But, he, he was, uh, his ... his … Elvis was his best interest … and there's been things that have come out against him ... they weren’t intentionally done … like Colonel Parker being the bad guy … you, know … because he wasn’t. He cared about Elvis and he did the best he could and I think he did a hell of a job. I worked with him a lot on tour so I was with him constantly on tour out there and I saw what he did for Elvis.” In the same presentation, in reply to a question about Elvis, West said, “I would say … probably what really sticks out in my mind … if you kind of took everything together about Elvis, with his humility and his warmth and his compassion and his concern and take all of this … and, you can probably wrap it up in one word … is, humanity. His humanity was something like, you just don’t, you know, it’s such a big word but he covered that word very well. It really brings him to it, you know … yeah … humanity.” In a June 22, 1977 interview, before Elvis’ passing, Elvis’ father, Vernon Presley, said, "Colonel Parker is an honest man. And I think that's where the big organization and the big togetherness comes. You know? Once you find out, you don't have to worry about a guy being your manager, what he will do for you ... he handled it ... you do the show ... everything worked smooth.” In West's case, harboring favorable opinions towards Parker might be attributed to Parker producing the money-making opportunities that he did. In the same vein, Elvis, the "bread and butter" of the operations, combined with Parker’s business prowess, enabled a quality of life that West would not have been able to enjoy otherwise. Therefore, his loyalty was to both. As for Vernon Presley’s opinion, at least at the time of the interview, some say that he was snowed by Parker. Like West, Mr. Presley also enjoyed the fruits of Parker's labor - as conniving and manipulative as Parker has said to have been. The bottom line is Parker was able to produce the venues that equated into dollars. Although his antics might have been questioned during the process and much later, the concern at the time that it was happening wasn’t strong enough to change the equation by replacing Parker. As long as the money kept rolling in, the relationship that had been established wasn’t questioned, business as usual as it evolved was the accepted norm.

@@ree214 I’m glad you enjoyed it! Really.. but I am more discerning and ELVIS had a special something about him and and Austin, to me has absolutely none of Elvis’s charisma. With the thousands of impersonators around, or tens of thousands to be more accurate, this movie was just a poor example of another impersonator who doesn’t look like ELVIS, poorly moves like ELVIS and doesn’t sound like ELVIS.. yes, he tried but he is NOT ELVIS, just another impersonator. ELVIS really had something special and it’s an insult, in this day and age to even try to emulate him. With technology and special effects these days they should have had the REAL ELVIS instead of a poor impersonator but as I said, I’m picky.. and the one person on the planet who had something special, even the way ELVIS looked at someone, WHICH AUSTIN DIDNT HAVE, and is impossible to replicate should NOT have been insulted with a poor copy..

Tom Hanks on the Colonel Tom Parker. Tom you still don't know what he sounds like. He didn't speak with a foreign accent. Tom's performance was confused and creepy. Austin however was just amazing. This young actor is a breath of fresh air.

It's because Tom hanks was playing role of devil that is common thing in Hollywood. That's why they talk a lot about sacrifising in movie. Which behind closed doors means, selling soul and real sacrifice for wealth and fame. Also they show number 23 on door when Elvis opened it in motel. Devide 2 on 3 and you ll get some clue. Also Elvis mother died, when he was 23, and Butler's mother died, when he was same age. Just coincidence? Jim Kerry has movie called number 23. Also, bolt of lightning is symbol of Lucifer, and young Elvis has tie in that shape when he participated in this weird creepy act in church like some worshiping. And his moves in dancing looked too crazy and disturbing, and people losing their mind. When you look at details, puzzle pieces gets together

Tom Hanks looks like an amateur dramatics ham in this film compared to Austin Butler. it truly is one of the most remarkable performances commited to film.

Austin's fame has skyrocketed. I hope his new found fame doesn't go to his head and it doesn't change him. He is such a kind hearted loving caring person. I hope he never forgets where he comes from and doesn't forget the people who stood by him and will always be close to Prisilla and never walks away from her. Please Austin, don't let your fame make you into a snob like a lot of the stars. Don't snub your fans. People love you, especially women.

They left out of the movie where Elvis had a boxing robe made for Muhammad Ali and how Elvis hid away at Ali's Deer Lake training camp for a few days just to rest and get away from press n everything. And when Elvis would rent out a theatre so that him and James Brown could watch a movie together with friends. Muhammad Ali and James Brown should have been one of the highlights of ANY Elvis movie and documentary.
