Don't think for a second that all Elvis's fans were there ! Some of us could not afford to go and sat home in mourning in front of the T.V. soaking in every horrific detail we could and praying it wasn't so ! Very Black day in history for all of us who lost Elvis.

Elvis's band was like his family, when he was with the band in rehearsal or on stage Elvis was in the most comfortable place he could be. He loved it. James Burton, Jerry Scheff, John Wilkerson, Glen Hardin and the great Ronnie Tutt were Elvis's rock solid band! Elvis fed off of their energy and they fed off of his! The TCB band!

My Daddy was just a young adult/ adolescent a few years before I was born when he tried to ride to the funeral service at Graceland. Just to get to the boarder by car from where he lived is 3hrs he made it past the boarder but couldn't make it to Graceland in time. He still loves Mr.Elvis and I know most of his songs so do my children. He was an amazing singer and writer. May Mr.Elvis Presley rest peacefully forever with God beyond heavens gates 🙏🙏🙏 I know my Daddy will meet you one day ❤.

I saw Elvis in 'May of 77. Years later, I had the honor to shake Jim's hand, along with Jerry and Glen at an after show dinner with John Denver. Just got really nice vibes from all, seemed like such gentlemen, just like JD. Only the best, for the two best. I'm so so sorry they had to endure the loss of both. Putting their music aside, I think JD and Elvis were actually a lot alike and they surrounded themselves with awesome people. But E and JD were both taken so early, I'm forced to believe that our souls are eternal and that these gentlemen had greater missions elsewhere. We remember with you, Jim, like it was yesterday. The 2 days that E and JD moved on, I think are two of the days when everyone in the world shared a group hug.

Finally I got up the nerve to ask,.& actually,. That might’ve been the second time I met JD,. Anyway,. When I asked are you sure Elvis is dead,. That was him,. I’m sorry but he did pass away! Jake Hess btw,. Was one of Elvis’s favorite gospel singers & he went to his house several times & sang with Elvis! I knew James Burton years ago! He is/was a wonderful man! Kind, generous, thoughtful! I met the Burtons' years after Elvis died. I knew his son Jeff, also, who sadly passed away also. His kids taught me how to snow ski in Tahoe! Many fond memories of them! I never met Elvis, but James introduced me to all the other country western stars he worked with. I met Alabama, Hoyt Axton, John Denver, Dolly Parton, EmmyLou Harris, and lots of others. He would show me his guitars and play hot licks for me and show me his records. He was much more famous in Europe and had several of his own releases there.

I was returning from a party on that appalling day. My mother opened the door, and said "You better come inside. I have some terrible news. There has been a news report that Elvis has died." I said "What?" As I went into the living room, there was a very grim-faced presenter saying there was an unconfirmed report about his death. Half an hour later, the story was given credence. All the scheduled programmes were cancelled, and the TV stations ran their own tributes to him. The next day was truly dreadful. I went for a short walk. There wasn't any traffic on the road at all. A girl I knew, cried every day for two weeks after his death.

There has never been an entertainer with a presence more powerful than Elvis. I tell my fiance that the greatest music in the history of the world has already been made and a lot of it was done by Elvis. Elvis could walk up to a hot mic without a single instrument and captivate thousands. Nobody in this day can do that. They have to have pitch machines and computers, they have to lip sync because of their lack of talent. Elvis was something special. There was something very different about him.
