My mother (Patricia Altman) is pictured at the end of this video. I would like to thank Larry Page, Steve Johnson and Kim Sparrow for sharing this with me. I had never seen it. Thanks fam. The anniversary of her death just passed on June 20th, so seeing her really touches my heart and brings back some great memories. She loved her some Elvis. Love ya'll! Thanks so much! Miss you Mom.

That's what endured him even more to his fans that he would even bring that entire tour into their little part of small town America and always try to give them 100% no matter how exhausted and burnt out he was from it, And they responded to that with all that Madness and Hysteria, Camping in front of ticket offices, Hotel rooms, Airports, The multiple attempts to break into the hotel and get up to his room, Bribeing staff to let them enter the room after he vacated only for things to get out of hand swarming in their and stripping everything out of it Leaving thousands of dollars damage, Then following/stalking the tour routes for hundreds of miles down the highways, To do it all again, It was an army of Hysterical Grannys and Mothers all teaching their daughter's how to commit petty crimes and larceny, LOL Even law enforcement feared and steered clear from that crazy hoard with the beehive hairdos!!!

I asked to guy who use to book Elvis`s tours, Charles Stone why he booked Elvis to silly little venues like this, instead of 60-70 thousand seat stadiums. "Elvis didnt like rain" was all he said.. Elvis should never played shitty places like this. He should only been booked to the biggest venues.

@@darksideka It made no financial sense to drag a sick Elvis to play a 7000 seat arena in 1976, one year before he died. I`m sure the fans were happy to seem him there, but it was a terrible business decision on Tom Parkers part. Tom Parker turned down offers to do Wembley Stadium in London in front of 72 000 for $1 millon, to do a 7000 seat arena in the middle of nowhere and almost not make any money.

@@yellyman5483 Again it adds to the Elvis mythos that's lasted all these years, Fans know someone or were there the night Elvis Presley came to their small town or Waved at them from a limo at the local airport, Nobody cares about Wembley especially American fans, He performed at far bigger Stadiums like the Houston Astrodome and Pontiac Silverdome and hated the vibe of those mega arenas.

Hi my name is Bonnie I'm 77 years Young and I live in salt lake City Utah I never got to see the king in person he never knew my name or so my face I've loved him since I'm 11 but one thing is for sure he was the greatest not because he could sing or act or move or even for his good looks I loved Elvis for so many other reasons Elvis was the greatest he stole my heart when I was 11 and he has never given it back. Thank you for making this video and taking me back to a time that I didn't even know existed I've saved this on my phone so I can rewatch it and show it to other people and I've shared it keeping his memory alive for the younger generation is important they have written so much garbage about him and I have never listened to any of it he was the most amazing man to come along in my lifetime I will always love him till the day I die and beyond thank you from the bottom of my heart he was the greatest and he will always remain the greatest of my life. Thank you for this video. I live about 30 min away from this arena. I wasn't living in NC at the time Elvis played here, but they used to have pictures of him from the concerts In the lobby where the ticket windows were. I have seen many concerts and other shows in the Cumberland County Memorial Arena (currently Crown Arena). I don't know if anything will be built on that spot. It was suggested to build a performing arts center. I graduated in the auditorium next to the arena from high school and college before the Crown Coliseum was built behind the the arena. Great times.

Another excellent review guys. The thing that has struck me, is that some of the hotel accommodation where Elvis stayed was not where you would expect the greatest singer in the world to say. By that, I don’t mean to disrespect the hotels, but some were not 5 star places where artists today would probably demand. Again, this is just typical of Elvis, a down to earth, genuine guy, one of a kind!😍😍

I love your videos. Having said that, i can`t believe why they booked Elvis to this arena. Especially so late in his life. Elvis was very sick in 1976. Instead of doing one stadium in each city, they made him do numerous of shows in mid size arenas like this. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Elton John and Paul McCartney did 60 000 plus stadiums in the 70`s. There were offers for Elvis to do Wembley Stadium in London which holds 72 000 people. Elvis could have done at least 20 sold out shows there, and made so much money that he could have been able to take at least a year off. I will never get over how badly Elvis was managed in the 70`s. I would have booked Elvis to places like "Shea Stadium" in New York, "JFK Stadium" in Philadelphia., "Kingdom" in Seattle, "Rose Bowl" in LA, and "Houston Astrodome" in Houston instead of making the biggest star in the world do a 7000 seat arena. Every stadium show would have been sold out. Elvis would have made money, and he would have had more time to rest, and to take care of himself. Maybe he could have done more movies instead of always being on the road. I asked the guy who worked for Tom Parker who booked Elvis`s shows Charles Stone, why he never booked Elvis to an outdoor venue. The answer was pathetic. "Elvis didn`t like rain" Charles Stone also told me that they never gave the musician anything to drink before shows. The musicians had to buy their own soft drinks, and they even made Elvis pay for tickets to his own show.. Elvis`s security had tickets that was payed for by Elvis, and Tom Parker even made money on the scarfs that Elvis used to give to the audience. Tom Parker would buy each scarf for $1, and sold them back to Elvis for $5 a piece. Tom Parker also owned the merch, and made more money than Elvis on the shows. Elvis had to pay for the musicians, travel, security, etc out of his cut, while Parker only had to paid for his own crew..

Thanks for this great video presentation. I can see Al Strada and Joe Esposito walking with Elvis at 3:24 . I'm guessing the three concerts Elvis performed at Fayetteville in August 1976 would've earned around $300,000 - equivalent to approximately $1.4m in today's money, and probably netting Elvis a quarter of that after all costs and tax are deducted.

He could have easily played in London on Wembley Stadium for 70 thousand people, but no.... he played in small venue like this.... The main fault in EP´s career was he did not fire Col Parker in 1973 when he had a great opportunity to do that. He could have done huge and challenging things - but he would need proper management aimed on worldwide success, not Parker´s (by 70s) incredibly dated style of managing aimed on easiest way how to gain money.
