This house was always decorated with the same color lights as Graceland at Christmas. I started going down there in 66 when I got my driver license to see the decorations. I started attending Humes in the fall of 64. You could feel Elvis in the hallways. I used to go to Graceland and park by the stone wall hoping to catch a glimpse of him but never did. The best I could do was a pretty good conversation one night with Vester who happened to be working the gate.

We, Elvis fans, are so blessed to have you. You take some of us places we will never get to go and I appreciate all your hard work. Also, for you to document the Elvis history like you do for future generations is such a gift. So many things would be lost and forgotten over time and I love the way you are preserving history with all your research and diligence. You are a true treasure, Mr. Stallings. Thank you.

I try to show these videos to my mom but she starts crying whenever Elvis is mentioned... She loves him so much she can't keep it together. Awhile back I watched his comeback special with her on dvd... Tears rolled down her cheeks as she smiled. The emotions this man evokes in fans like my mom is mind blowing. All these years later and his effect is unreal.

I am always confused about the telephone . I got to know Dee a couple years before her death ' I asked her about the phone upstairs. She said it was not a link to Graceland so who knows. As you go upstairs the bedroom to the right is where Pricilla stayed.The bedroom with the mirrors was the boys room. There was a deck on the 2nd floor but it was removed. The two lions at the front door was put there by Donna Early when she was showing the house during Elvis week. I was a guest of hers and I stayed there for a week., It looks like there's been some work on it. If I ever hit it big I would purchase this and the Circle G for the fans. They both need to be loved.

Amazes me how this Presley family rose to be famous & from dust we go back to dust...& how Vernon's house is still there but is not well maintained. My thinking is this is Elvis's dad house & a big part of history /plus borders with Graceland ...think it should be part of the Graceland attraction / Elvis history with the house included with the mansion tours... Honestly Vernon's house /pool etc should be A-1 maintained. It's history. His dad so many times went with Elvis in the touring / concerts. Father/son were so close.

I may be wrong but I’ve lived in mostly old houses & they’ve all had these, including the house I live in now. They are light switches. They’re supposed to have a draw string coming down to pull on. In the master bedroom they usually have one by the door as you enter (as with the rest of the rooms) & then another by the bed to turn it off/on in bed. Most old houses have had them removed completely & replaced with modern switches. They’re still quite common over here in New Zealand.

Another great video Billy! Great to see inside and the back garden, even if they are in need of TLC!! The owners of the Hickory Log restaurant bought the house after Vernon moved into Graceland following Elvis' death. The Hickory Log was opposite Graceland on EP Boulevard where the old Elvis auto museum once stood and was a favourite hang-out for fans and Elvis' entourage. Of course, the restaurant in turn was sold to the Elvis estate to make way for the Graceland Plaza.

Vernon's house is actually pretty good size, especially prior to the big houses we have today. While with a bedroom hot tub and an outdoor swimming pool, it's a nice crib. Especially, too, since he could just stroll right through the back onto the Graceland grounds or walk a very short distance to get his horse out of the barn for riding. A very nice, quiet country life, which always makes me sad - as it's so peaceful there - yet both Vernon, and especially Elvis - died so young. WONDERFUL PICTURES, TOO - BILLY - AT THE END. ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE PHOTO OF THE WIDE OPEN FIELD SHOWING THE MEDITATION GARDEN AREA. ANY IDEA WHO WAS CONTRACTED TO BUILD THE HOUSE AND FOR HOW MUCH? I've often thought of buying one of those house that is on the perimeter of the Graceland fencing like Vernon's. And I would imagine they aren't all that much. If anyone has any idea how much those homes go for, please let me know.

On a website, it says Elvis had a doorbell style buzzer installed underneath the dining room table that would summon the kitchen staff. I just searched online and somebody says the one on the ceiling in Vernon’s home was a heat detector for a fire alarm system.
@SpaGuy4 жыл бұрын
Yes there is indeed a door bell under the dining room table you can see it if you crouch down and look under the far end of the table during the tour and I touched the door bell on the ceiling in Vernon's room and it is a door bell no doubt..
