Great video! So glad to see places like the Shell, Chisca Hotel, etc. have been preserved and not torn down. Major historical venues in the birth of rock n roll. Such a shame American Sound Studios was torn down!

I was there in 2004. It was really exciting for me to be there and to see where Elvis did his first show. The whole experience was great for me especially being a life long Elvis fan. Spa guy, kudos to all the great work you do. I hope if I ever come to Memphis again I would like to meet you. Thank you for keeping us fans up to date with all the information. Just when I thought I knew everything about the King.

Thanks for sharing this very important part of the history of Elvis. It is amazing to see the buildings and the floors of the areas where Elvis once stood and walked on. I love seeing these rooms backstage and knowing that Elvis was in those rooms getting ready to perform .it was exciting to see the first place that Elvis ever performed a live show. What an honor it must have been for him , and very exciting to those people who were there to listening to him sing and show them a wonderful time. Thanks for all you do, Spa. So appreciated. Would love a segment devoted just to the famous Humes High talent show in '53. (Loved your previous vid on Humes bathroom "haircut" incident btw) That is what Tom Petty says must've been a pivitol moment in Elvis' life. It's where he finds the first real public validation of his talent. Elvis later recalled how popular he suddenly became in school after that performance. It's a hugely important moment that I feel has yet to be properly documented.

Another lesson in history, it was like I went back in time. I was trying to imagine what that show would have been like. Keep On Keeping On!!!!

Wonderful video!!! I think about how they messed up Elvis name. I do not think it was a common name, especially in Oregon where I live. Next to my Grandmas grave is another grave the man is named Elvis and he was born in 1888. I loved your tour. It is very interesting. I have been to the auditorium where Elvis performed the Aloha special in Honolulu. It would be interesting to go there and tour that too. They have a wonderful Elvis statue too. I think you’re right, Billy, from my experience, I’d say that one side of that basement was for men, the other for women. They’d each have their own bathrooms, and dressing mirrors/tables, as well as their own separate doors leading out, and up the the stage. I’ve used the dressing facilities of a lot of venues built between 1930, and 1960, and that would be my guess. Great job and video as always, my friend!

I am saving for a trip to Memphis this year in August and I'll rent a car to visit ALL of the places that you have shown us in your videos,including visiting the cemetery where Red and Sonny are resting and buy some clothes from Lanski's and of course the tour of Graceland and a visit to sun studio's and walk down Beale street. I lived in Memphis in 1970-71, still have many relatives there. Sunday being my only day off back then, I'd hop on my Harley and go for a ride and always wound up driving through Overton Park, there was always a crowd every time I went there. Thank's for sharing this video, I enjoyed it.

Thanks Billy, It was so nice to see that Shell Stage up close. At one time there was a large tree that someone had carved Elvis in the trunk of with a chain saw. I remember stopping and looking at it. I guess it's rotted away by now but at the time I thought it would last a long time. I wanted to see the inside the stage that day but it was said there was a street guy or wine-o sleeping inside so I didn't try to go in, but I wanted to. Thanks Billy the spa guy 👍 for another cool video, I did see a video of a few months ago with no sound that was supposed to be Elvis's first performance before a live crowd and the first one to be filmed-now the guy that aired it said it belonged to his parents who obviously were at the show, said that Elvis pulled up in a station wagon I think, which they hung around until it got close to Showtime. The film itself is just short snips of Elvis just hanging around and a short clip of him performing

A little trivia about Slim. He was left handed and played the guitar leftie. A very young left handed Paul McCartney, probably 12 yrs. old, seen a picture of Slim in a magazine and noticed Slim's strings on his guitar were the opposite of a right handed player. Slim was the first left handed guitar player Paul had ever seen.

The pictures of Elvis show him with the custom leather covered Martin guitar ..( a great story in itself)..I would have thought at this earliest period of his career he would have he would have still been playing his Kay guitar...A Martin guitar would have been a large expenditure for a young man just starting out...I know I bought my first Martin on a "extended layaway "plan when I was 17 from a kind old gentleman that ran a jewelry and loan

I grew up in Memphis in the 60s and 70s in Midtown I saw Bookert and the MGs trapeze -Argent And buddy miles right after Jimi Hendrix passed and I saw a lot of plays an orchestral shows at the Shell

Those side wings on the shell are much smaller than in earlier (1950's?) photos. Makes me wonder if the 1955 dressing rooms were beside the stage. If so they're gone now. Scotty would have known.

I was just watching the latest post from true stories now I have never put any credit that Elvis is alive and all that ,although I could understand if he wanted to disappear especially at that point of his life.anyway true stories had a picture of meditation garden being constructed and their concern was no one was buried there really I dont know it raise a question for me as to where there ever any photo documentation of them being moved from the cemetery to Graceland?you would think that news would have leaked out to paper and such especially after the threat to steal Elvis from the mausoleum do you have any answers Billy?thank you
