Bill Medley was born in Los Angeles. He met his singing partner Bobby Hatfield while attending California State University, Long Beach. The pair began singing as a duo in 1962. Their first single was "Little Latin Lupe Lu"; their first hit was "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", produced by Phil Spector in 1964. I knew a guy who was in the army with Elvis and he said everyone liked Elvis. He was a good guy and not conceited at all. He also said a couple of jealous guys picked a fight with him and Elvis knocked them both on their ass and no one ever tested Elvis after that.

This is hilarious, wish I’d been there to witness it. I was a junior in high school in ‘68, so I grew up listening to Elvis. Bill Medley’s story isn’t really about himself, it’s all about Elvis. After all, it has always been about Elvis.

Medley really makes you feel like Elvis was a good guy. There are no stories of Elvis being mean to anyone. I think he was just a pure, loving southern gentleman with an innocent soul that got messed around by a cheat, thug and scoundrel named Col. Parker. Medley was a powerful force in music and still is. The two of them were friends and I bet Elvis had few real friends like Bill Medley.

Bill does not feature on that particular recording! This song was sung by Bobby Hatfield. But you're right, it's a fantastic song.

Thanks, Bill Medley, for this lovely insight revealing the kindness, the humor, the humility and sweet generosity not of the legend, but of a man named Elvis Presley. Not a fan ? Watch this and perhaps you'll understand why we love him so much !!
