Great reaction. Elvis didn't often respond well to choreography. He was more used to responding to music with his own movements. He matched up with the rhythm and beats because he was a professional musician; it came naturally. Whenever there were other dancers a choreographer more often would match them to what Elvis was doing.

Elvis was a natural dancer-moved to the music. That’s what started all the ruckus in the first place-no white singers moved they just stood and sang. Elvis grew up in a Pentecostal church where moving to the music was what you did and it was seen as being filled with the Holy Spirit. I think that is why it confused Elvis when people thought his moves were vulgar and why he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong. He found it funny, and often chuckled, when girls would scream at his moves. As far as his movies, I heard an interview by one of the early choreographers brought in for Jailhouse Rock say that Elvis wanted to feel natural with his moves and so he showed the choreographer how he would move singing the song and the choreographer worked the other dancers into and around Elvis’s moves. He said they choreographed that number together. For his live shows-it is ALL Elvis! I know he liked to have little competition with Ronnie Tutt, his drummer, to see if he could move to all Ronnie’s crazy drum parts. That’s really fun yo watch-Elvis always smiles and laughs-he had so much admiration for the other musicians in his band. You can tell they really enjoyed one another.❤ Elvis was just given so many gifts. He also really did play the organ and the bongos as well as other instruments.

When Elvis came it was mostly radio. TV was new and surely not in every home and where it was it was small black and white with poor picture. Movies were the way to really see the stars at their best. Elvis made his stardom without anything but his pure talent and voice! Without the all the channels we have today! And he is here today! Strongly! Made 110 million last year!😘♥️🇫🇮

TV wasn't in every home as much of the 60s but it was in a lot of homes. By the mid 50s surely most. That's how Elvis became so suddenly famous and scandalized the country with outrageous movement. Sun Records couldn't give him that but the Colonel and RCA did on multiple shows. There was only 3 networks and a variety show offered multiple acts. Everything was concentrated so when Elvis was on the whole family watched him; even those who didn't like him; unlike today where several devices offer multiple channels so everyone is able to choose what they experience. In the 50s and 60s Ed Sullivan was the head honcho and his exposure offered the first experience with a lot of cultural change. One year was enough. After his last appearance on Sullivan in January of 57 Elvis would be on TV only 4 more times starting with Frank Sinatra in 60 after his army service.

Elvis said when he was singing the way that he moved was what he was feeling at the time, it was just a natural thing for him. I watched another documentary and they said that Elvis did most of the choreography on Jailhouse Rock.

I was alive during this time period and the men of my family members and relatives had the same dark hair and sideburns like Elvis at that time. I also went to one of his concerts back in the 1970s. Fun fact: Little Richard was good friends with Elvis and said Elvis told Little Richard You have nothing to worry about. You will always be the King of Rock and Roll

Elvis never required or wanted a choreographer. Sometimes the studio would hire one and they'd help the actresses and others on set. Elvis just vibed and the music flowed through him. Whereas Michael Jackson hired and spent millions on choreographers himself, Elvis was a natural supernova. He just was able to work in any music genre and vibe to it and young people of all races went nuts. Elvis introduced a NEW DEMOGRAPHIC. YOUNG PEOPLE. He wasnt singing to white or black people. The music was for young people all races and walks of life. That is partly why most reactions are super positive nowadays from young people when they react to Elvis. Young people just relate to one another....

@@betsyjonex9364 GREAT CHOICE for this reactor to react to. PROVES that Elvis came first as the original teen idol and that he had no blueprint, and that MJ OBVIOUSLY copied a LOT of Elvis' style and movements, to the shock and dismay and disbelief of many MJ fans. MJ never credited Elvis publically, so they never really had any idea.

Choreographed for his movies based on his dancing/movement style (Elvis choreographed himself sometimes) while in concert, it was all Elvis; his movements were naturally his own & weren't rehearsed or choreographed. Btw, there was no such thing as MTV type videos 'back in the day' albeit many would argue that some of Elvis's movie performances (Jailhouse Rock for example) were early examples of what would later become MTV type video performances as were the 'stand up' and 'sit down' portions of Elvis's 1968 Comeback Special which if you've not watched any of them yet, you should as you'll definitely enjoy them.

This was choreographed to a degree. Elvis always put his own "spin" on the dancing, though. If he went off what was a part of the choreography, they rarely did another take, he was that good. As for live performances, that was a whole different story. The musicians always had to keep their eyes on him to see what exactly he was doing to keep up. Nothing was really choreographed per say.

I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Awesome reaction. I had to set some fool straight last night people trying to dirty Elvis name not on my watch what sickens me the most is the people that are talking smack know nothing of what they are speaking of, i have spent my entire adult life speaking out to people that try and judge a beautiful soul that is not here to defend himself and don't get me started on my girl Priscilla people hate her because they are straight up jealous she made Graceland prosperous no one else and people putting her down no way not while i still have breath in my lungs no one i mean no one will disrespect them period. God bless you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn. 😭Elvis told me all the time you should always know where you stand with people now i know what he meant. #forevermyking #forevermysexyjello

“ Music Video “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This came out in 1963. There were only 3 tv stations. Rotary phones. Manual typewriters. No microwave ovens. The Golden Arches had just started to be used as a symbol for McDonalds. The only way to listen to music at home was a vinyl record or reel to reel tapes. MTV wouldn’t air till 1981. In 1963 music videos weren’t even a concept. This comment just tickled me. It made me laugh. Thanks for giving this old lady a chuckle. I have enjoyed your Elvis journey.

I am not an Elvis expert, but it looks choreographed to me, because the dance movements repeat. He is singing this song in the upper range of his voice, and singing a lot of words, with a lot of syncopation. It must be hard to sing - try to spit the words out that fast with so many notes in your upper range, and you'll see, but he seemed to be natural with this kind of song, and although this is bossa nova, the singing style is similar his early rock and roll song. It is not very comfortable for a baritone, but he really seemed to favor his upper range in his early career. Later he did in sing in his upper range with a darker sound, but here is still singing lighter. His sense of rhythm was incredible.

Love your reactions. Unfortunately most people judge Elvis by today’s standards, because life was different in the 1930 and 1940’s TV’s did come out till around 1946. Toilet paper did not come out till the 1930’s [Elvis born 1935]. Coca-Cola did not take the cocaine out of its drink till 1929. Doctors prescribed Quaaludes to treat insomnia and anxiety disorders back then., Quaaludes were not made illegal till 1984. Elvis had serve insomnia and sleeping disorders all his life and use this in the Army to get sleep so he could keep awake on long duties. You can’t function if you can’t sleep As you notice in in Ann Margret and Elvis dance in Viva Las Vegas and now in Bossa Nova Baby that Elvis sometimes look unattached in his body movements. Elvis had a rare genetic condition known as hyper-mobility or EDS This is associated with joints that can hyper-extend and Elvis was famous for his gyrations. The doctor who defended Dr. Nick and got him acquitted, and who studied all of Elvis medical records for his whole life found the Elvis had been terribly ill for about ten years before his death. Until Oct 1973, Elvis was hospitalized for deteriorating overall medical condition, and causes that mystified his physicians. Elvis had glaucoma, spine arthritis, sigmoid volvulus, megacolon, loss of teeth, hepatomegaly, herniated disc, and elevated eosinophilia count, and arachnoiditis, CTCD. “Small nerves in the skins soft tissue start to disappear, and large nerves become inflamed.. The pain and suffering in those persons, like Elvis who have internal organ, multi-system defective connective .. is profound. This is CTCD. “We will never know how much of Elvis’s drug seeking and taking was due to medical and non-medical purposes. However, on thing is clear, he had insurmountable pain. During Elvis’s lifetime there was no recognition, understand or treatment for CTCD. “What is clear, however, is that there may be no greater cause of severe intractable pain the CTCD” . “Pains so horrible that it forces these tragic individuals to seek whatever drug they can obtain to find a little comfort” Elvis had saver megacolon issue. As the fiber that holds the intestine disappear this causes great bloating, constipation and pain and a protruding gut. You can see this in his last concert “Unchained Melody” (Rapid City June 21, 1977). Note in the “What Now My Love “(Live 1973 Aloha in Hawaii Best version!) you see his right eye tearing, (that was his bad eye. He’s not crying, that’s pain from the light sensitivity cause by the glaucoma. If you then go to “American Trilogy” which comes later in the show, both of his eyes are tearing badly from pain. Elvis commented to one of his lovers, Lucy, that he nearly passed out in the middle of the Hawaii concert. That’s why he did not move too much. He told Lucy that even taking all the medications he was still in pain when he was preforming. He told Lucy that he was dying. This is in 1973 it only got worst till 1977.

The almost 800 songs in his catalog were mostly originals....the end results are brilliant because Elvis Presley changed lyrics and musical arrangements according to how and what he felt they should be. Just because he chose not to have his name credited as co-writer, except for 'Love Me Tender', doesn't mean he had absolutely nothing to do with the songs he chose to sing. He was the ultimate perfectionist so of course he did. Same for songs he covered.
