I saw Elvis in 1975 in Memphis. All he had to do was turn his head a little and the women started screaming, including myself, I was only 17 years old and he died 3 years later. The entire venue just shook with his voice. When he sang “Hurt” it was so crazy good, but one of the best songs he did that night was a gospel tune called “How Great Thou Art.” I requested it to be played at the funerals of both of my in-laws, they were amazing people and they loved Elvis, they both went ballroom dancing on Saturday nights, may they RIP. Thanks for this Jamel, great memories. 🌺💕🌸

According to one of his close friends the reason why he’s laughing is because every time he sang that song he had fun testing how little he could move to get as many women in the audience to scream at one time. I think I heard somewhere that at one show he did in ‘69 when he started touring again he sang this song and shook his leg a little bit and all the women in the audience screamed at once. So everytime he did that song he just teased all the women by doing as little of his moves as possible because he loved the reaction it got.

Lucky you keep those memories alive in your heart like i have for many yrs. Elvis was the best friend i ever had in my entire life. we met when i was 17 yrs old. I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted way past that one day in time. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. Seeing him dancing and singing breaks my heart because i know he is not here anymore my mind understands but my heart never will, i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation, which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. I walk past Graceland everyday without fail. Love from Memphis Tn..

Tuesday, August 16. 1977. My mother took us shopping for back-to-school clothes at Capwell's in Walnut Creek, California when an announcement was made over the store's loudspeaker that Elvis Presley had died. Everyone in the store simply froze in their tracks. Suddenly there was a crashing sound. A saleswoman behind the cosmetics counter fainted and, as she fell forward, knocked perfume bottles to the tile floor. I was very young but still remember that day vividly. It's hard to overstate how famous was Elvis Presley. His talent and charisma are unsurpassed.

Cool CPA : Same for my mother and her 6 kids (me being 8) returning home after school clothes shopping that day about an hour or so from NYC. She heard the radio news and almost drove off the road in grief. She pulled over abruptly and we all mourned with much of America that week and for some time to come...

Great stories guys? I was 6 when our mom ran into the room in her whaling cry that they just announced Elvis died. My father cried too. When Elvis performed in Madison Square Garden, I'm not sure of the exact year ,my father,my two uncles and few of their friends went to his concert. My dad immigrated to the US in 68,his first concert in the US was at Madison Square to see his favorite singer Elvis. He was a fan of Elvis before he immigrated to the US. So to have his dream come true as an immigrant in NY to see Elvis is a cherished memory for my father who's currently 82.

I was 3 and we were camping and when they announced it on our little tv, my mom (who was a HUGE Elvis fan since she was a kid) just lost it. Even though I was 3, I knew the impact Elvis had.... and to this day still has. I grew up listening to Elvis records with my mom and watching his movies with her too. I remember the first time we visited Graceland in the early 80s and my mom was beyond thrilled. I also remember she got yelled at by the tour guide for touching the couch in the TV room in the basement (you were not supposed to touch ANYTHING). LOL!

My great uncle Curtis was best friends with Elvis. She was born and raised in Memphis TN. He came over almost every day and jammed out with her uncle (also a musician) who was so talented that Elvis actually wanted them to be a duo instead of him single. Later on.. when he was making girls faint (including my mom’s friends in high school) they thought she was insane 😂!! She’d have to tell them that he was like an uncle/family member to her. She didn’t see him as they did. Of course she thought he was cute, but she knew him. Take care. 💙🕺✌🏻

Yep. Every time I hear the word “cool,” Elvis comes to mind. There is a video of this man whose sister has passed but she had a treasure trove of stuff she collected and documented being a friend/girlfriend of Elvis is and how she went on some tours it’s so interesting and on KZfaq but he had a funny story that she was walking down the plane and she fell a roll down the steps and he said an Elvis, you know, was cool and he didn’t want to come down the steps right after that, lol. so I think he waited a while before he came down. It’s such a funny story and very interesting, but yeah it’s on KZfaq I think it’s the unknown girl or something like that. she has literally documented with pictures and calendars and writings and cassette tapes of everything and she did, and had it stuffed away. The brother couldn’t even find it for the longest time, but he knew that she had gone with them, and they finally found it. she never released any of that stuff to the public herself

Ha ha this was one of my favorite reactions!! Elvis truly was one of the greatest showman ever. On a side note if you haven't seen it, you have to watch "Bubba Hotep". It's a hilarious fictional movie about how after falling into a lengthy coma following a freak accident involving hip gyration, a now aged Elvis Presley (Bruce Campbell) wakes up in an East Texas nursing home, where he befriends Jack (Ossie Davis), an African-American senior who claims to actually be President John F. Kennedy. After residents of their quiet retirement community start dying of dubiously unnatural causes, Elvis and Jack discover that the perpetrator is Bubba Ho-Tep (Bob Ivy), an Egyptian mummy with murderous intentions and they team up to put an end to him.. it's an Excellent movie!! I know you will enjoy! Thanks for sharing and look forward to more videos! Stay safe & God Bless!! P.S. Look forward to your reaction to "Talking Heads".. So many great songs!! David Byrne is such an eccentric and talented musician who was way ahead of his time!! With all due respect, if you wanna see Elvis cut loose, it's on stage live...the main footage that won't be blocked has been done, look into all the amateur film footage shot by fans over the '70's. The quality may not always be that great, but it's awesome watching him in action. PEACE!

My grandpa (1938-2004) would take my grandma and slow dance the dance solo on family occasions. Years later I learned my grandpa had won from 1950-70 lot of dancing competitions. This song felt nostalgic.

React to anything from The Comeback Special. Small stage, acoustic, with the audience setting right around the stage. So fun to watch.

The black leather Elvis. When I saw those leathers on display at Graceland, I thought I might kneel and genuflect. As close to a holy rock and roll relic as there could be.

My whole faily watched that on T.V. back then. I remember how excited everyone was to have Elvis doing that special. When he came out wearing that black leather jacket and pants it was just awesome. I was sixteen and he had me and my mom pretty amped up. We loved him!

I had no idea Elvis covered this song. For anyone who doesn't know, this was originally recorded by Little Willie John back in the mid 1950s. He's a very underrated singer who died at the young age of 30. He also recorded the hit songs I'm Shakin and Need Your Love So Bad, which have both been covered by numerous artists. You have to check out Little Willie John's original recording of this song. Elvis was a bit too chill and understated with his performance.

I think Peggy Lee did a cover as well. Elvis fans were annoyed when Jose Feliciano covered it and it was a top hit. If RCA was not so stupid, Elvis could have had that hit years earlier.

Fun fact his guitarist, James Burton, is from my city, Shreveport LA. He’s also friends with my dad. One day I was at my folks and someone knocked on the door. I go to the door and there’s James Burton holding a guitar that someone sent him, I don’t remember if it was Gibson or Fender or what. I was starstruck. He’s like, “Is your dad home? I got this new guitar and wanted to see if he wants to jam for a while.” So he comes in, Dad gets his guitar and I’m sitting there listening to one of the greatest guitarists playing in my parents living room.

That’s awesome thx for sharing! Fun fact: My great uncle Curtis was best friends with Elvis. My mom was born in Memphis TN. She met him at 5yrs old. He was like a part of the family. Her uncle was also a musician, & they played together for many years! It would drive my mom’s family crazy! 😂 All the instruments were at my family’s house. They’d eat dinner a lot at his house and then jam out at her’s! I can go into A LOT more detail of what happened through the years, sad things he told Curtis about choosing fame, etc. Anyways, I’ll just leave it at he was a very humble person up until his last couple bad years. He mentioned my family’ name via a book my mom has... & of course he mentioned Curtis. He was really just a good ole boy from Memphis. Take care. Ttyl ✌🏻

Around 1974 when doing this song, he would simulate women screaming his name "EEELLLVVIIIISSSS" when he sang the line "I light up when you call my name". It's pretty funny. The funniest version was from his May 11,1974 show in Lake Tahoe.
