So sad we have few performances of elvis in the 50s
@memesouls8653 Жыл бұрын
Not few performances, few recorded performances. Cameras weren’t a common thing until the mid 60s for people to have or let alone for concerts to record their live shows.

Agreed. Very happy to see something like this is out there. I think more stuff will come out as the years go by. Hopefully!

One of the very few times my Dad, Hank Garland, was actually on stage with Elvis. Dad was one of Elvis' recording guitarists in Nashville.

Yeah, I took me about three seconds to realize they just took the studio recording and made it sound noisy with a bunch of screaming girls behind it.

He always gave his all. Here he is wearing that flashy golden jacket. I was 11 and the adults in my family told me I was not allowed to watch "such things". Only My Aunt Dorothy liked him and we watched him on her small black and white TV. Dorothy had danced for a professional dance company in Seattle in the 40's and early 50's and she totally loved his "wild" dancing. I was very much into the Mouseketeers at this time but thought he was the wildest performer I had ever seen. Later I came to appreciate his musical talent and style very much, especially his Gospel music. I was not really raised a Christian but his music touched me deeply.

Seen this footage before but never with the actual audio from this show. It's mind boggling & a revelation to hear the live version of Jailhouse Rock. Elvis is the true definition & the embodiment of Rock nobody did it better & no one ever will. If Rock n Roll can be summed up in one person it's Elvis "the pelvis". What's really amazing & phenomenal is unlike the other rockers of the 50's Elvis didn't stick with it after 1958 he hung up his "blue suede shoes" by 1960 he was hanging on by a thread.The "Rebel" Elvis was short lived & 60 years later the early Elvis shows of "56 & "57 are still amazing & timeless. Elvis didn't need to stick with it to show he's forever the King of Rock n Roll. The other artists had to "stick with it" but Elvis could do it all & sing any style.
