Elvis's house, first filming at Graceland after Elvis' death
Graceland Tour Elvis Presley Home, Cars and Airplane - Graceland Elvis Presley Home in Memphis
Graceland is a mansion on a 13.8-acre estate in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, once owned by singer and actor Elvis Presley. His daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, inherited Graceland after his death in 1977. Graceland is located at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard in the vast Whitehaven community, about nine miles (14 kilometers) from Downtown and less than four miles (6.4 km) north of the Mississippi border.
It was opened to the public as a museum on June 7, 1982. The site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1991, becoming the first site related to rock and roll to be entered therein. Graceland was declared a National Historic Landmark on March 27, 2006, also a first for such a site. Graceland is the most-visited privately owned home in America with over 650,000 visitors a year, rivaling publicly owned houses such as Biltmore Estate, Hearst Castle and the White House.
Graceland Elvis Presley Home in Memphis
Explore the beautiful mansion, walk the gardens where he found peace, tour the aircraft that he traveled on from show to show, and encounter Elvis Presley's Memphis entertainment complex for an unforgettable experience featuring legendary costumes, artifacts, and personal mementos from Elvis and his family.
This video was filmed at April 3, 1981 🎬

I bet you would never see a room that held letters and gifts from fans in any other singers home! The people that loved Elvis was the ones he seemed to cherish the most. He was humble and knew the Lord Jesus Christ and that I know is something that Elvis stood out from all others! Elvis didn’t die, he just went home.

And who would pay for the expenses? I am very thankful that Priscilla managed to preserve Graceland and made it possible for fans to visit. In my opinion, the state should have cared about that. Memphis profited immensely from its famous son but in the end, when Elvis died they behaved as if they had nothing to do with him or Graceland. In the 70s Europe, that would have been unheard of.

@George Dave ELVIS just had ‘everything’ and you know what I mean. All he wanted to do was entertain and send the people home from concerts happy and had enjoyed themselves. Like all human beings he was not perfect. BUT his voice never let him down even right to the very end I know the music industry has changed and moved on but there are plenty of Col Parker’s out there even worse For me music since the 80’s doesn’t interest me I’ve grown up listening to what my late parents listened to Frank, ELVIS, Dean, Perry, Matt Monro and of course Sir Tom Jones Real Entertainers 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

It was like this when I visited twice just after it opened in 84. It's not like this now. Things moved to museum. Racquetball building now has public bathrooms. It's not how Elvis left it. I'm glad I went twice when it opened. The horses were all there except his passed. But I took photos of Priscilla's grazing. The cars & motorcycles, skidoos, Blue Hawaii jeep were all still under the carport and we got to sit in the jeep, on the skidoo and take photos. Copies of the will were available, I got 1. LM was to inherit at 21, then changed to 25, then 30. Estate was in debt so it was Priscilla as executor & her choice to delay it until Priscilla turned the estate into a business to make money and leave her an inheritance. She sold 85% of Elvis Presley enterprises off a few years ago. Retaining 15% which would be the estate and personal belongings. She no longer owns the rights to his music, name etc.

@Darin I was there twice and it was definitely dead by 86 as they gave us tour of the horses, which I have photos of and we were given a postcard of his horse which had passed. The entire story told to us on the tour. Some people read things now and believe them but weren't there back then. I still have all the photos plus the postcard . Priscillas old horse grazing , yes tours were alot different than now. Up close. Most of the items removed, replaced, rebuilt etc. Not as Elvis left it.

Watching this old footage made me think of what could've happened if Priscilla hadn't taken control of the estate. Most likely Graceland would've been sold, as indeed were the two planes. The contents and cars also would've been sold or auctioned off to private collectors. We never would've been able to visit Elvis' home and see all that he left behind. Visiting the famous home of the world's first superstar was a major highlight for me. Memphis is so blessed to have had Elvis as a resident.

I always thought Priscilla was in it for the moolah but in the end she did what nobody thought....she made the Man immortal by opening up his beloved home to his fans whom he loved so much. What's more she even let his Aunt Delta continue to live in Graceland long after Elvis had passed. Aunt Delta died in 1993. Priscilla could've easily kicked her out when Graceland opened up for public visits in 1982. But Aunt Delta was even given the honor of cutting the blue opening ribbon on the front door. I can imagine Elvis smiling from heaven at that sight! Agreed Priscilla benefited greatly from the Graceland public tours but at her heart that wasn't the intention. Having said that, one thing I just can't fathom: why 'Elvis and Me'? Why did she write it? Why did she have to? She could've just let those sordid bedroom secrets remain locked forever in the same upstairs bedroom that she locked to the public forever!

Jerry Schilling wasn't there anymore in the 9 months Ginger Alden dated Elvis Presley. Jerry disappeared when Elvis' health and career went downwards but still received a salary from his sugardaddy Elvis. Schilling was not a friend but a parasite just like most of the MM, Priscilla Beaulieu and Linda Thompson. Linda did not only get a house from Elvis but also lots of spending money. Even after their relation had ended Linda asked Elvis to pay the rent of her Los Angeles apartment. Linda also liedvaboug her ending the relationship. Linda wanted to marry Elvis but he was not interested. Red and Sonny West plus Dave Hebler helped publish a tell-all book about Elvis out of revenge for their dismissal in 1976. Remarkable because before their dismissal they had not been "working" for Elvis for at least a year but they still got their salaries paid. How can you expect to be paid for doing nothing for your boss?

@marciadiehl5733

Yes...Colonel Tom Parker wanted 50% of Elvis's estate after he died. That was the arrangement of his managerial contract with Elvis while he was alive and Parker felt that since Elvis was still making money after death with the sale of his records, Parker wanted his cut of the profits. Thankfully Priscilla stood in the way and took him to court to fight for her daughter, Lisa Marie, and the legitimate heir to receive any future money from the estate after Elvis's death. Priscilla won her battle against Parker in court and once she got control of Graceland, she opened it up for tourists and turned a great profit for the estate to keep the mansion open as well as provide a hefty inheritance for Lisa Marie. Parker was a user and an opportunist. He was also an addicted gambler whose habit caused him to gamble away millions and millions in Vegas casinos. I believe that by the time Parker passed away, he was practically a pauper.

Here's a fact I got from an inside source. Shortly after Elvis' death they stored 60 jumpsuits in dirt floor out buildings behind Graceland. A family member whom I won't name sold several of those suits " out the back door" for 300 bucks a piece. Vernon, Elvis' father, had the suits cleaned and properly stored. He almost sold them all ( Elvis was almost broke when he died), but someone talked him out of it. Now, the few privately owned jumpsuits sell between 350,000 and one million dollars. Each.

Anyone who believes that Priscilla Beauleiu saved Graceland is foolish. Plans were in place before Elvis was moved to the Meditation Garden. To insure that Elvis would stay buried at Graceland plans were made to secure and sustain the mansion. The idea was originally conceived by Parker and Vernon not Priscilla. She adopted that narrative when there was no one alive to dispute her claims. I feel badly for the life Lisa had. Priscilla’s son Navarone is an untalented greedy person just like his mother. In any interviews since Lisa’s death Navarone has taken every opportunity to say horrible things about Lisa. He’s happy to take the millions he’s getting from Lisa’s estate and proudly says how great his mom is. Priscilla dumped her at the steps of Scientology who took millions from Lisa. The truth needs to come out and if Priscilla is buried at Graceland all Elvis fans should boycott the place. That woman is out there still trying to elevate herself and further try to ruin Elvis’s reputation. Yes she was 14 !!! Where the hell were her parents??
