I will never forget the night Elvis was in Oklahoma City in 1975. I am disabled and in a wheelchair and always have been. I am coming up on my 63rd surgery. Well anyway that night for some reason this man came up to me and said, would you like to go meet Elvis? I said sure., well it happened to be Joe Esposito. He took me back stage to meet Elvis before the show and it was like I was in shock the whole time because I was such a fan. He was so nice and so very gracious to me. We talked a bit and he asked me how I became to be in a wheelchair. He hugged my neck and told me to take care of myself and said he wanted me to have something. He told me to open my hand and he gave me this gorgeous diamond studded ring with a black sapphire in the middle. It had 9 diamonds. I still have it to this day and would not part with it for anything. God Bless You guys and RIP Elvis my friend!

I remember that day. I was 21 sitting on my parents couch watching TV when the announcer said we interrupt this program to bring you this special Bulletin Elvis Presley was pronounced dead at Memphis Baptist Hospital at around 3:00 pm. I could not believe it. It felt like part of America had died. A very sad time.

I was 17 that summer, just graduated high school. I'll never forget the Summer of '77 lots of things happened in NYC that year; but the biggest impact was losing Elvis on the afternoon of August 16, 1977. I'm 61 now, still a die hard fan and will continue to be until the day I'm called to glory.

@@rickeyzinn5135 Exactly! Time's have changed and I think I can say that Elvis wouldn't be happy to see what a mess this world has become. I really couldn't believe America would get so bad but here we are wondering what happened. It really started while Elvis was still alive, they started by taking prayer out of school and changing the law's that use to protect children from the evil of the world. When I was a child you couldn't even say pregnant on tv, now you can turn it on and find out how to get pregnant. It's really sad for the children, they should be protected as long as possible. I'm not saying getting pregnant is evil but really children need their innocence intact while they are not old enough to understand adult life.

I remember the day clearly, I ran out of a room and repeated what I had heard on a news flash that Elvis was dead. It was about an hour after she married my stepfather and at their wedding... All of the women embraced each other and wept while the men gathered in a group silently shaking each other’s hands to offer condolences one to another. I was ten years old and to this day I have never seen so many people mourn as deeply for a person in my life. It was like happiness had been stripped from the earth. People are still mourning to this day. The man was a legend however it became a curse when people idolized him so much he became imprisoned in his own home and lost his freedom. RIP

Seeing the pain in Billy's face and the hurt in his voice tore me up. I have so much envy for y'all because you were close with Elvis and have so many beautiful memories. I get so upset when i hear people say that he faked his death, i always tell them to think about Elvis's family and the pain that it causes them. We were all blessed to have Elvis and God Knows we all wish he was still here, but it was in God's plan. God Bless y'all and THANK YOU for this video, i know what a toll it takes on you to re-live it. I would love to be able to meet you guys one day, i grew up across the street from Graceland in Oak Acres apartments and i was friends with Harold and am still in touch with Jimmy (Patsy's Son). I think it's a DAMN SHAME that you would have to pay to go to the grave. If only those people knew who you were. I have never understood how the Smith family was treated after Elvis Passed. I think i can safely say that Elvis would be highly pissed

Elvis was a precious soul that lived 50 years before his time. He was a heart felt man that adored his family enough to always want them near to him and dear to him. He used his gift of success to use as a gift to others. Money didn’t mean as much to Elvis as the gifts that he could give to others with his money. He knew that money would come and go but those family members and friends could never be replaced and that’s why he wanted them around him all the time. He knew success and being at the top could be a lonely place. I pray that he is resting in peace and complete rest among the angels in heaven. I’m sure if he could come back he would choose to stay where he is among peace, love, and eternity.

Scientology. It teaches you that family isn't nothing special. They think you have a million lives and a million parents/ kids. No one is special its all by chance. Its why even her kids feel lost. Scientology has been tearing families apart for years. Priscilla had that bond attachment with her parents in those fundamental years. Its heartbreaking. Its why Lisa's son couldn't get real help too. Depression is your fault in scientology. They look at you to fix yourself. Some people thats not an option.

To Billy, Jo, Danny, and Joey - thank you very much for sharing that with us. I believe that when Elvis looks down at what has become of his legacy, the business and commercialization of his life, I bet he takes incredible comfort knowing that his family genuinely loved him and misses him. I bet this is one of the very few things that still makes his spirit smile.

I've never met any of you. But its quite obvious that you folks are good people. Honest people. Just tell it like it is and I respect you for that. I'm a business man in a small town in kentucky and have been a Elvis presley fan ever since i can remember. I was a good friend of jd sumner. He and I met in 1989. I really enjoy all the stories that you all share. I'd love to sit down with you all and drink a cup of coffee one of these days. I realize that you shared a life time with a family member who without a doubt was the greatest entertainer the world will ever know. He loved you, and you all loved him. I think is fantastic that you have never come across to anyone that you are better than anyone else. I really respect your genuine honest approach. Elvis was an amazing person no doubt about it. Thanks for everything that you were able to help him with. The world will never know the depth of your love for Elvis, but I'm positive Elvis knew your love and devotion, thats all that matters. Have a great evening and GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I was born on August 18th 1969, I remember August 16th of 77, when Elvis passed away, I think time stood still for the whole world. We were all in shock and disbelief. Now I’m 51 years old and every year on my Birthday, I make sure to share my birthday thinking about Elvis because I think he was not only just a fantastic entertainer, but he was a fantastic person as well. The world just hasn’t been the same since we lost Elvis Presley. We miss you Elvis.

I remember that day very well. I was 27 years old at the time. My Sister in-law, and I had tickets to go see Elvis in Portland Maine. I'm from Maine. My Sister in-law called to tell me, never mind we're not going. I asked why, and she told me. It was August 16, 1977. I could not believe it. I turned on the T.V. and sure enough. I like so many teenagers at the time wanted to Marry Elvis when we were old enough. I thought we would make a good couple, because I had black hair and blue eyes too ! Haha. Elvis was such a force in life, not only his voice, his music, but his kindness. It was a big void in our lives. We will love Elvis forever. To this day, nobody can match his voice. His body may be gone, but his Spirt lives on in Heaven as well as on Earth. I am sure he is happy being with God, the Angles, his Mom, Dad and Brother. Elvis would want you to be happy in your lives, until you see him again. Thank you guys for sharing your stories! God Bless.

I have been an Elvis fan since a child, here in London, England. I was 12 in '77. It was big news here in the UK. My mother bought several newspapers to read about it. She is french and her favourite song was His Latest Flame. She said she played it all the time in record dept. in Woolworths, Oxford Street. I had a good friend Gary. He died in 2007. He was a hugh Elvis fan and referred to Elvis as 'The Master'. I asked where was he when Elvis died. He said he was at friend's place and she said that Elvis has died. He thought she was joking and then saw the news for himself. He said to me he was overwhelmed with grief and just had to go home to be by himself. It was a very emotional time. Every 16th August he'd play just Elvis songs. Elvis was so many things to so many people. A great human being entertainer and philanthropist. You were lucky to have him in your lives. Better to have known him for 42 years than never, I guess.

I love the honesty that Billy exudes. It's so refreshing to hear the truth Instead of people not acknowledging Elvis's frailties. Billy makes him more human rather than someone who doesn't want to talk about his issues. Talking so honest and open about him makes him more human than Priscilla, Joe and Larry do. They care more about the image than the man cause the image makes money. Thanks again Mr Smith, you are amazing

For he lived in a time when rock and roll needed its heroes. And elvis was truly the king of rock and roll. No body touched the world as he did. God has a special place for him in heaven. He was a legend and he was human as we all are. He never forgot what it was like to be poor. Even when he got famous. His heart was big as the world. We miss him always. God bless him always. Honestly I feel "No person" should have to pay to visit Elvis (and his family) at his gravesite. He would be appalled to say the very least! From what I have read, Elvis disliked greed. Example: T. Parker wanted to "raise" the price of concert tickets. Elvis said to Kathy W., "No way in hell will that ever happen. These people work hard to try and save to come see me. I don't care how much money "I" make; as long as payroll is met and the bills are paid...that is all I care about."

I can see how Elvis's passing is still hard for you all. I can feel sadness vibes big time. It's touching and hard to watch. The sorrow is still clearly etched on your faces when talking about it. Thank you for speaking about it again. I can see you really cared for him deeply and that's nice to know as an Elvis fan that someone did truly love him. Truly. When to me it seems like so many people took him for a ride. Well, you were family weren't you... Still are! My grandad passed away when I was 11 in 92. I'm 40 in March and it still affects me today. My mom gave me this photo of me and him together yesterday and I just cried buckets last night. I'll never get over it. My grandad was all I really had. I had a bad childhood and my grandad was alI I had, I was like his shadow. I would follow him to the ends of the earth if I could have! He, I felt, was like my guardian angel. When someone means that much to you and they were a big part of your life how do you get over it? My grandad wasn't Elvis either!! so don't know how you guys are feeling! Elvis was fab. Just remarkable. He was beautiful I'm sure he was and It's beautiful to hear you talk about Graceland not being Graceland without Elvis. Graceland is about the £! It's lovely to hear you speak about him so sincerely, that's what made me subscribe a while ago. I'm with ya about the birthday celebrations. Nice to see you all together. Family is a lovely thing. I was born in 1954. Elvis was just getting started at that point. But I grew up listening to his music & going to Theaters to see his movies! He felt more like a family member to me. I never got to see him in person regretfully. I never had the opportunity. When he died I felt like I had lost a person in my family! I am approaching 70 yrs old now. I hope before it is my time to meet my maker that I do get to go to Graceland. And if I have to pay to go pay my respects to him I will. I do agree with you all that you shouldn't have to pay to visit his gravesite. If anyone wants to go only for that they should be able to without paying. And that could definitely be done no doubt. Thank you for sharing for posterity such a painful memory. I can barely imagine how it turned your world inside out. I was 17 at the time and my cousin called to say Elvis was dead. Just like you I answered that she must've got it wrong and it was probably his father who I knew had been sick. That day I had spent all morning listening to his records and I remember the last song I heard was Make The World Go away. Ironically, in the following weeks and months, there was Elvis music everywhere on the radio and in the shopping centers and his records were sold out. It took me a year to finally hit the wall and truly realize that he was gone.
