The past few days we have had terrible storms here in Nova Scotia causing power outages all over the province. The church got taken down and trucked away & we discuss the kitchen renovation plans!

I wanted to take the time to thank you and your family for inspiring my Husband and I to go out and live our Dream. We have sold our house and have bought a 50 foot sailing boat. We plan to set sail in May from southern Spain. You have given me the courage I needed to better my family's life. I will always be grateful to you, your family and your channel. Like you we are planning to spend more time doing the things we love in the most amazing places. You will always hold a very dear place in my heart and you feel like family to me, before finding your channel I was in a very dark place and now I'm living my best life .Thank you so much and please keep up the amazing things your doing. All my love Debbie x

Perhaps I have missed something along the way, but I would love to see a simple floor plan of the house. That way I can better visualize the connectivity of one room to another. Maybe I’m the only follower that would like to see a floor plan. Thanks for all your content. I really enjoy all you and your family do.

Every time I saw that church in your videos, I fall in love with your location all over again! I am so sad to see it go, but totally understand. I am excited to see what you come up with to create with your “church pieces”. You have so many creative and awesome ideas! Stay safe and warm! Your wood stove reminds me of a story my grandpa used to tell me. In the late 50’s South Carolina had an unusual amount of snow. They received enough snow to be measured in feet rather than the normal dusting to inches. My grandparents were forced to utilize all of their firewood and had to start burning old furniture from the house. This broke his heart because some had been built by his father. My grandpa was born in 1891 and this furniture was older than him. Grandpa owned a sawmill and couldn’t even get there to get the wood they needed. When things began to thaw, he of course went to get wood and he and my uncles spent the day chopping wood and stacking it. Their electricity was out for the better part of 2 weeks. During that time they were able to not only keep their home warm using multiple fireplaces, but my grandma had to cook on the wood stove. She said it was just like when they were growing up. They promised each other that they would never be caught off guard again, and they weren’t. In fact for the remainder of that cold cold winter, they kept a fire in that wood stove. And on occasion grandma would cook on it just because she could. She told me she guessed it was like having a crockpot. She would make meals in her heavy cast iron pans that would simmer all day.

Please be safe with having the generator next to a window. Dangerous levels of carbon monoxide can quickly build up in your home that way. (Speaking from someone in Louisiana who deals with hurricanes and generators often...and there are always deaths from generator use and carbon monoxide build up each hurricane season)

We moved to Ontario from the coast of Massachusetts. Our house was built in 1850 with a great view of the Atlantic. Winter storms are no joke. I am glad that you have had the foresight to plan for the issues that arise from them. Our old kitchen was very large with maybe 6 square feet of workspace and no built in cabinets. It functioned well due to the walk in pantry. You putting in a pantry is just the answer to making an odd kitchen workable. One thing I would suggest is lots of deep drawers for storage. Where you have to have traditional cabinets with doors, especially on a lower level, make sure that your shelves can pull out to access items in the back. It might be a tad fussier to build but you will have easier access to things and save wear and tear on your backs. I am looking forward to seeing what you do!

Yes, easier on you back! I have a lot of cupboard space in my 100+ year old kitchen. At 66 I only use the uppers and my pantry. I wince when I see kitchens without the upper cabinets, but I get it!

Love watching you guys. You didn't live too far from me when you were in Ontario. I have a couple suggestions for you first I suggest getting some oil lamps for when hydro is out , in my opinion alot safer then candles ( although the flickering of candles are so nice). The second thing was since your so good building things I think it would be cool to build a replica of the church but as a bird feeder then you can have it hanging/mounted in the direction you would have looked to see the church. It would be a nice reminder of what you saw. Hope your family take care and keep posting videos please.

I, like so many other subscribers, loved that you had that pretty pastoral church as part of your horizon. But you thinking to ask for ‘pieces’ of the church is exactly would I would’ve been bold enough to do as well. You really tickle me 😊. I can’t wait to see what you create with what you were given. And I like to think that the pieces of church will be grateful to have been rescued and given a new forever home with such a terrific family within the rescued home that was its longtime neighbor. Best wishes for the renovation of your pantry/kitchen/dining wing of your home going smoothly for you!! ♥️

The power was previously owned by the province but since its become a private business they don’t seem to keep the infrastructure in good shape, resulting in lots of outages whenever it storms. Mostly it’s trees getting heavy with snow and ice hanging on the power lines and some breaking and pulling down lines. Fortunately they seem to be pretty quick to start working on outages. Good thing you got a generator and wood stove and a lot of wood on your land.

We've been dealing with windstorms in Alaska, too. Last weekend we had winds up to 100 mph in various areas, with buildings down, many homes with broken pipes, semi truck-trailers blown over, etc. However, people helped one another, and no lives were lost. Another storm is happening now, but it seems "minor" compared to a few days ago. This too will pass.

We are used to power outages, seems to be much more common then it was growing up here. Too bad you didn't have a opportunity to access more of the wood from inside the church. I spent a lot of time looking for rusty metal roof then one day on a drive home I seen they were tearing down an old house not far from me lucked out in getting more then enough for my project along with the old nails with the lead seals.

That is so sad they tore it down. I truly believe that if they had sufficient funds I bet it could have been saved with a lot of money and labor. But I’m guessing it wouldn’t have been cost effective to fix it. It would be cool if they put up a replica church in its place! The church my grandma goes to is a little 2 row church built in the late 1800s. A few years ago they finally added on a bathroom to it, as it didn’t have one before, and you had to walk over to the Ed building that sits next to it. Love little old churches 🥰

Hope you all can stay safe! And thank goodness for the woodstove. I love mine and am very thankful for it! There are high winds forecasted for my area in the eastern side of Alaska starting tonight through the next couple of days. Hopefully we don't suffer damages like your area or even the western side of Alaska did a few days ago.

Love that you got pieces from the church. Can’t wait to see what you do in kitchen. I am so happy for you that you don’t have to have laundry room in basement. I am also glad you were prepared for outage. It seems you have thought of everything.❤️🤟😍

your kitchen with indoor outdoor dining sounds amazing. Can’t wait to see it finished. If you have room a wood stove in your kitchen would be dreamy.
