This is something hitting very close to home with me. I'm not going to expose my issues, but it's taken me a very long time to realise that I am not my parents, and to anyone who's dealing with any of these issues, you are not yours.
No matter how out of control you feel, and how messed up your life seems, you always have the opportunity to make a better one for your children, should you decide to have them. And remember, you're not your parents, but neither are the people who you don't want to let in. Don't let an awful past stop you from having an amazing, vibrant happy future.

Hi guys. I am blown away by the popularity of this video and the support it's receiving. This was such a difficult topic for me to deal with. Here's the thing though; as it has blown up so suddenly, I'm receiving dozens of notifications not only for comments of support, but also people asking for the TV shows and movies and songs featured, and as much as I love to introduce people to new fandoms, every fandom, TV show, and movie are all listed in the description, just as they are in every single one of my videos. So please, before commenting to ask what movie or show is at a specific timestamp, please just have a look in the description box. I promise that everything you're looking for is there! Thanks, Kirstyn.

I sometimes felt like a nothing because my dad was verbally abusive to my mom before I was born and then when I was born... he left, he dissapeared from my life and all of my childhood I wondered why I didn't have a dad. TOP SIX WAYS TO LOSE YOUR CHILD'S LOVE: 1: Abandonment/abuse 2: Comparing all of their problems with your childhood problems 3: Telling them to be grateful for everything you give them for example: "be grateful for the food I put in your stomach" 4: Blaming everything on them or on their phone/iPad/TV 5: Too strict- taking away their door, grounding them too often, never letting them go out, etc. 6: Always on their ass about everything

Emily Taylor I used to be, by my own father. We had some fun times but I knew they wouldn’t last. One day we’ll be at a carnival the next he’ll be yelling at me calling me a “liar like my mother” a “mistake” and telling me I “Ruined his Life”. This is called emotional and verbal abuse. If I try to explain it, some people just say it’s a part of growing up, it’s natural in arguments, it’s not a real kind of abuse. But now he is better, he has gone to rehab, and I now I wait for him to come home from federal Prison

You are a truly remarkable survivor who deserves a relationship where you feel safe, respected, appreciated, and trusted on a daily basis. You deserve to have your emotional needs and wants to meet consistently. You wholeheartedly deserve to feel sincerely cherished and loved. You deserve to come home each and every day, knowing that you are always safe and appreciated. You will be able to discuss what’s going in your mind with your partner without worrying about what his reaction might be. You will be once in a while showered with physical affection in the form of reassuring hugs and sweet kisses. You will be able to know that he will be there for you, no matter what happens and vice versa. You will share spontaneous laughs with him as well as find him to be a shelter where you can share unspoken tears. ❤ Stay extraordinary, my lovelies!

I used to watch these everyday as a teenager looking back I was just trying to find people that I could relate to. It's been 6 years since i had a stable relationship with my mother. I'm happy than ever and wish it stays this way

I’d love to believe that I won’t be anything like my mom but I see anger in me and I hate it but at least I apologize to people my mom thinks what she does is “funny” or “quirky” like “haha I take my anger out on you I’m just quirky like that”

I can SOOOOOO relate to this. My parents are the WORST. My mom Kelly has EXTREMELY and very toxic ambition in her nature. She says certain things are my own fault.....(crying)are they? BECAUSE IT JUST HURTS SO MUCH COMING FROM HER!

I never had abusive parents, in fact my home life when I was young was complicated and rough. My parents divorced when I was 3, and growing up I looked for a father figure in every man my mom brought home. Back then she was trying to live a youth she never had, and i was raised by another man who was only there for 7 years. I learned a lot. I didn't meet my biological father until I was 6, but by then it was too late to try at a relationship. He popped in and out back then and still does now. Just today, I'm supposed to be graduating tomorrow (postponed ofc) but he didn't even message me back, instead messaged my sister asking how much money she wants for her birthday. Back then it used to sting, but I'm way past looking for a father figure in anyone because my mom grew and stretched into both. She did her best for me, and yeah she had her flaws but she tried to be there for me and understand me more than he ever did. Sometimes its the neglect and abandonment that gets me the most on the bad days

I don't get physically abused by mom. She provides me with a great life but I am constantly getting mentally abused by her insults and fights with me when no one is looking and then she acts like the victim. Home is supposed to be a place that makes you feel comfortable but to me it feels like a place that is constantly lowering my self esteem and I don't want to be here feeling like that :(

This video means a lot to me, at the age of 3 months my mother left me so I deal with abandonment issues, when I was five my father was very abusive to me. I let him beat on me so he would not hurt my siblings, which cause my PTSD, I want to say thank you for making this video.

I just broke down even more at “that was your fault”. Being the daughter of an alcoholic who is abusive in every form sucks, and imagine being 8 years old begging your dad to stop drinking for him to retaliate “you’re the reason I can’t stop drinking, you make me drink. I need to drink because of you” hearing that over and over every year I begged him to stop.. I have given up on him now. It’s one of those nights where everything is hitting me and it just hurts

1) this edit always makes me cry, because it's actually fricken perfect and relatable💔 2) For my Teen Wolf fans, all I'm gonna say is this-- Even though we don't see a lot of Mr. Lahey, what he did to Isaac permanently scars me. I loved Isaac so fricken much, and seeing what his dad did to him kills me. I mean really, WHO LOCKS THEIR SON IN A FREEZER?! It's just sad, and it breaks my heart💔

Mary wasn't abusive, but John was, and what she did or didn't do didn't really matter in the end because Dean still had to do it all. And then when she came back she didn't do much to be and stay with her children. Just my opinion :)

🙏❤ " How To Read a Book " was a great help and very informative. (1) Once you begin, read quickly through the book and get a general "feel" what it's about. (2) Then go on to a second reading where you read more carefully and take notes, but not heavily annotated. (3) A third and subsequent readings will be much more in depth & you will have conversations with yourself about the book as if you were describing the work to another person. I've applied it for nearly 30 years and my efficiency for reading is so vastly improved. -Eppie Hemsley
