In this tutorial, you will learn how to enable email double opt-in in MailerLite.
Email double opt-in is a process by which a person must confirm their subscription to an email list by clicking on a link in an email sent to them. This is an important step to protect your email list from spam and abuse.

Good explanation. Unfortunately, it does not work (yet), though I toggled "Double opt-in" on the form's page and also on Account settings -> Subscribe settings

It does work now. It seems like the system skips the double opt-in for e-mail-addresses that have already been used. This is not optimal, but I will keep using MailerLite, because it is the most comprehensible solution I found so far.

I dont have any forms, just the landing page, how can I know if I have the double opt-in activated? And if so, how can I edit it to personalize it?

Hello Norma, the process is the same but instead navigating to Forms, Navigate to Sites > Landing pages > Overview > Double Opt-In.

@MailerLiteOfficial ok, found that switch. But then, the button behaviour options are only 'success page' or 'Redirect to' custom page. How do i trigger the double-opt-in process here?, ie, send a confirmation email before going to the success page. (txs already, glad to have found this thread :-) )

Hi, can you tell me if there is a way to make the "confirmation thank you page" an email that goes to the subscriber's inbox rather than a landing page? Thanks!

Hi Stephanie, I am not sure I understand. Would you like to send an additional email to the double opt-in email where they already confirmed the subscription?

@@MailerLiteOfficial Yes. When they click to confirm their email address, they are sent to a landing page that shows a confirmation thank you. Is there a way to send them a thank you email instead so that they have it in their inbox?

@@missstephthebibleteacher The only way to do this would be to set up an automation. You can create a custom landing page so you will get a link that can trigger the email. They will still get to thank you page (the landing page you created) plus they will receive an email. Is there any specific reason you want them to have this email? There may be other, better solution 😊

How about designing thank you page into something pretty, you can change the text, add images, we have an article block you can use to give your subscribers valuable content right after they confirm subscription and you can even add links to download freebie. Would this work? 😊

Hello! What to do if the Confirmation Button in the Double Opt-in email does not link to the Thank You Page, but to the main Mailer Lite Site. I don't see where I can customise the Confirmation Button lin, I think it should go to Thank you page by default. Only that it does not.... Could you suggest what can I do to fix it?

what if i still want to have single opt-in and I have this toggle OFF but still after subscriber puts his email and subscribe they get this confirmation message. how to turn it off for real? I have new version of mailerlite and free plan - does it matter?

Hi balonm, you should be able to turn it off regardless of what plan you have. As I mentioned in your other comment, you are probably looking into the wrong form but please contact our support team (support@mailerlite.com) to help you better 😊

I've been working on my double opt-in for hours and I can't make it work. When testing it, I. get the Thank you screen after filling in my email address but I'm not getting the confirmation email. I'm in the New Mailerlite

There is an issue that needs to be fixed. Every time you create a new form you have to redesign the double opt-in from zero? Why can you just take the same "template" from previous double opt-in created before? It's the same mechanism of Automation emails, you can copy the same design from the ones you sent before.
