Emax Aeris Link ELRS Modules - Overview, Settings, and How To Update

In this video, Kris goes over some of the features and the update process of the Emax Aeris Link ELRS Transmmitter Modules. The OLED version, which is micro sized, will fit into the JR module bay of radio's like the TX16s. The smaller nano sized module will fit into radios with a "Lite" module bay.

Sweet! Was worried I would need external power for my tx16s which I think is dumb. Glad to know tx16s can do it without external power.

Nice overview. The eMax modules look nicely made. They are -- unfortunately -- very late to the ELRS game though, and the module does not really offer anything that we don't see from other companies on the market currently. Nonetheless, it's always welcoming when a well-known brand like eMax decides to make their own modules, since their products tend to be a gateway for newcomers to the hobby. Hopefully with this, we see them dump FrSky everything on their BNF fleet over the next year or so and go full ELRS.

Thanks for your comment, John. 👍 I think you're right that they will be going ELRS and HD Zero for future releases. Quick question for you: have you had ELRS fail safes? Both Kelly and I have, even when setting the TX is set at 1W Max, dynamic power, and 250hz packet rate. In both cases, our DJI video feed was still good. Kelly's a fan of the DJI RC and the simplicity of that setup. When I made the "Which Target" video for the Emax Hawk Apex and my hair turned gray, I had to agree with him. 😄

@@SunriseWaterMedia I have never had ELRS failsafe with either the betafpv module or the happymodel. Have flown it in some crazy environments, too. What was the proximity, and failsafe location? ELRS should never, ever failsafe in a park or open field even on 250hz.

@@JohnCuppi One failsafe was on his boxer radio, and he was within line of sight -- maybe behind one tree 100 feet away. The other, less surprising but still annoying, I was flying with my TX16S and the Emax module and went behind a small stone building. The o3 video was fine, but the radio was warning me that the connection was low, but I thought I could power through and make it around the small building (maybe 250 ft away), but no way! Now Kelly and I call it "ESRS" ... Express Short Range System. 🤣 I'm hoping to do a test with it where I can find the failsafe distance / lack of penetration, and then try crossfire in the same location, as well as DJI, because we can't trust ELRS... especially over water.

@@SunriseWaterMedia Yeah this doesn’t sound right at all even for 2.4ghz. The failsafe on his boxer radio - that was with the emax module too?
