that's a honest mistake. On a side note it is very hard to have to put your dog to sleep. I've dealt with it a few times

It is very hard to deal with, had a dog named trouble, he was 19 I believe, had to put him down due to his old age, I loved him, he was blind and had to use a doggy wheelchair I miss him

🙂 Nothing to be embarrassed about, honey. English can be a tricky language. So many words can have more than one meaning. And by the way, I lost my cat recently (in the same way) and yes, it was very difficult. I feel for the person you are close to. 💖

Irina, even native English speakers can make this mistake, don't be hard on yourself. At best, English is a difficult language to learn.

That’s a mistake a native English speaker would also make. Because many words and phrases in English have more than one meaning and are often context dependent. I would have asked the same thing, and English is my first language

no worries. under normal situations most people, regardless of native language, are more mindful of how we speak when talking to someone who may not know the language perfectly. your English is really good by the way.. . better then my Russian. I can read some Russian but only speak much less.

i would wonder myself as lost could be either dead or cant find him. Without them explaining or you knowing he was sick ahead of time, you would not know which one they mean by lost

one day I think you would die laughing to hear how I messed up when in russia . you think your understanding is bad. . also when I was in China and thought really good to live a tip and message in Chinese. I got slapped since the stroke was off and ment something else
