That he took his friends life too is sad. It makes me wonder if he told him before taking off, that he actually was breaking every single rule and didn't know what he was doing or if he tricked him to go on that deadly flight, without giving him a chance to make a reasonable decision about the risk.

I feel sorry for the janitor who forgot to shut down the elevator he was cleaning, though. That was an honest mistake you can only do once...and he probably died flat like a bloody pancake. My condolences. 😔

@@BreadBrawls Bob was watching a KZfaq video. The only problem was that he was driving on a busy highway. He was enjoying the video so he wanted to like it. This simple move caused him to have no hands on the steering wheel while driving 70 mph. Suddenly, traffic braked hard. He looked up and tried to steer the car left, away from hitting the car in front of him. The semitruck in the left lane couldn’t react fast enough as he hit Bob’s car on the driver’s side. Bob sadly later died from his injuries in the hospital. This is an important reminder to NOT BE ON YOUR PHONE WHILE DRIVING.

20:25 - Worth mentioning is that the intake of alcohol in this manner bypasses the liver, which means there is nothing filtering the alcohol prior to it hitting the bloodstream. Making the alcohol much more potent than it would be if consumed the normal way.

I was working at an auto car wash just yesterday. I was hired to do some of the wiring for one of the machines. When I was taking with the owner he told me of all the different story’s of how people died in one. It’s mind boggling on how dangerous a car wash is.

An interesting sidelight on the janitor story is that a lot of elevator shafts have a space at the top to avoid this sort of accident. It's a bit cramped and often very dirty, and the possibility of serious bruising (but not death unless you are very stupid or unlucky) is always possible, but you should survive. So this guy is doubly unlucky.

Same thought occurred to me, but the regulations for "man clearance" do vary from country to country (even state to state). Where I come from, elevators also have to have a big red emergency stop button on the roof in case someone finds themselves in this position - but that might not be the case everywhere.

I'm thinking it either A: never happened, B: didn't happen in the US where there are like a million safety regulations in place, or C: it was a very, VERY old model. I mean there was a building downtown here that still had one of those really old cage door elevators, and they still employed the same guy to operate it for like 70 years. The building didn't update the elevator to a modern one until he was literally too old to work anymore.

@adamb89 A lot of companies that have those old elevators will keep them around for the novelty of it. There was an old department store in downtown Colorado Springs that had one of those cage elevators. My brother and I LOVED riding it, as did our mother, who grew up shopping in places like that. I think the building is still there, but I don't know anout the elevator.

Usually elevators have a gap at the top and bottom of their shaft so elevator workers can work on them if they are stuck. Sounds more like a building code violation.

That one with the cop could be a comedy sketch. Two cops walk into a room. Cop 1: "Oh my god, how did this happen?!" Cop 2: "Well, he apparently picked up a gun and did this. " *shoots self in the head* Cop 3 walks in: "Oh my god, what happened?!" Cop 2: "It was insane! That tree cutting one hits too well to home since i have done plenty of roof clearing from snow (Finland) and the amount of ppl i see that think that those lines put around the dangerous area don't apply to them baffles me. Even jokingly said to my boss that "do i seriously have to have a bat or a shotgun to make some ppl walk those extra meters to be safe?".

I was hitch hiking in Los Angeles in the mid-80s when I was given a ride by an elderly black gentleman in an old beat up station wagon who in retrospect was entirely senile. Although he did not die, my guy should be mentioned. A tourist in the Misamis Oriental province in the Philippines stopped by a zoo where he saw what he believed to be a plastic crocodile.
