Oh, Dena. I just came across this. While I went to the working cow horse side, I appreciate your connection to the horse from a young age. Me? I would only eat those big shredded wheat biscuits because they were almost like hay. I lived and breathed horses from a very early age. I set up jumps in my yard and made my friends compete, I had my dad buy my first horse from an old lady who posted a sign outside her house, "Paint for Sale". My mother exclaimed, "Where did you steal that horse from?" as I walked it home. Those memories, like yours, run deep and are meaningful.

Sobbing for the farms we have all lost. Dairy farms were such a great place to grow up on and I am so sad to see them go under. I feel blessed to be able to have grown up on my grandpas farm and ride the cows in to be milked. Thank you for sharing this! I have this same love of horses and have never competed but raise them and help my kids and now my grands!
