Today I share my top tips for embroidering onto patchwork. I love embroidering onto patchwork, be it English paper pieced or traditionally pieced by hand or machine, combining embroidery and patchwork is my favourite thing to do. When I stitch onto tiny pieces, I use hexiform. In this video you will see me stitch lazy daisy flowers, French knots and stem stitch, whilst telling you my top tips for getting good results. This video will be useful if you are a beginner to sewing, patchwork and embroidery, but also useful of you have just never tried stitching onto patchwork before.

Lovely Emma. You do beautiful embroidery. Recently bought some 1930s fabric and embroidery cotton to try my hand. I’ve made many scrappy hexagon quilts but am looking forward to this new stage in my hexagon journey. 💐

Thanks for watching. I’d been embroidering since I was a child and when I started EPP I wanted to continue embroidery which is why I ended up combining it 😊

Once again such pretty sewing. I love to embroider too. It is my all time favorite sewing. I have done a lot of hand sewing and quilting for many years but never hexies but am starting my first hexie quilt. I may put it on hold and try some of the smaller things you are showing because they look so pretty and like a lot of fun. You are doing a great job on your videos. I love your work, really inspired me to get back into hand sewing again. My hexiform shapes have arrived and I’m about to dig my fabric stash out of the loft. Thanks for your wonderful videos. I use pilot frixion pens to put the pattern on fabric - they are great - really fine tipped - the pattern doesn’t fade for longer term sewing but the lines completely disappear if you run an iron over your design, so it’s there until you don’t want it anymore. I find them better than the thicker felt tip type pens. Just thought I’d share 😊. Thanks again.

If I'm not mistaken I think you were using the letters you found in your grandmother's stash. That is so endearing. I really enjoy watching you sew. Your videos have encouraged me to make room in my day for slow stitching. I have ordered some of the precut hexagon pieces. I also like how you embellish your stitching with embroidery. Thanks for being such an inspiration. I like the sampler you are making. It is a masterpiece of peace and tranquility.

In your 2 videos, you answer two of questions important for me: we don't take off this kind of paper so I will order them from UK to Canada! And, second, I love the embroidery and was asking myself if I can embroidery with this kind of paper and you show me that it's yes! I am so happy ! You get a new fan!!! Emma your work is so beautiful, and I enjoy each and every video that you make! I would like to know if you might consider selling copies of the initial embroidery patterns in you shop? I would love to buy a copy of it. I would think since it is old it might be ok to do so? I really think they are exceptionally pretty with the roses.

Hello Emma. I just discovered your channel. My passion is embroidery but I have never used it on Hexies. I am so intrigued with your hexi embroidery that I am going to try it today. My question is what is the maker of the thread you use that are on wooden spools? I have only neutral colors that I ordered so long ago I have no idea where they came from. I love your work and yes your calming. also as with yourself, I do not use a hoop. I thought myself how to embroider at about 11 and didn't have one. I was wondering about your big sewing kit not the needle book. Do you have a video on that?

Thank you for watching Vikki. In this video I am using aurifil aurifloss embroidery thread and I usually use size 3 or 5 and sometimes I use chenille needles.

Emma can the thing still be washed even with the embroidery in it? I like the idea of combining skills to make things more personal but I find a lot of things really still need to be able to be washed and dried. Very good tips and great advice to accept our stitches! Thank you.v

Yes you can definitely still wash it, the threads are colour fast so it won't affect it. I don't wash my decorative pieces, well I haven't needed to yet. Thanks for watching

I live in the U.S. How does ordering (The cost do not mention US dollars) and posts work from UK?

Hi, thanks for asking. The costs are in pounds but it will be converted to dollars on your card. My website calculates the postage based on the weight of the items. Shipping to the US starts at £10.95, I just charge exactly what Royal Mail charges, but if you've only bought small items and it ends up costing less at the post office, I always refund the extra. I hope that helps.

If I understand you don’t take off the stabilizer and you embroidery with it inside the form of EPP?? Can I know where you buy that fabric to keep the form of EPP??
