PSA: For people that don't know better... you should never ask a veteran if they've killed someone or how many people they've killed. It's very disrespectful and you are probably not going to enjoy the response you get from most veterans.

Why not? It's like asking a plumber if they've ever unclogged a toilet. It's part of their job description.

Bonkers McGee he means that no matter who you are the fact that you’ve killed another human being or multiple other human beings is hard to get over and doing something like that can take a mental toll on anyone especially veterans, so more often then not they just don’t want to talk about it and they would just rather talk about literally anything else

I find it so great that this guy is capable of being so ridiculous and funny, as well as focused and serious. That's a pretty dangerous combo! It makes me wonder if he acts like this in real life, or if it's just a sense of humor that he puts on for KZfaq.

Based on some other vids I've seen, that's just the way Eric Carr is. He is probably chill to be around, but who knows? maybe he will play some extreme paradiddlediddles while serving you a bowl of chicken soup. We just don't see him much off camera. Although drumming and serving soup sounds really cool tbh.

I served 21 + years as an Army Bandsman. In addition to our regular duties we trained on Weapons , Radio , First Aid , Close Area Security, NBC , did our own vehicle PMCS . In the Units I served with there were CIB's and Air Wings . When Division went to the field we went with them as Close Area Security , Reactionary Force and to Augment MP's . Army Bandsman have been KIA's and WIA's . The 101st & 82d Band Members are Airborne as well . Along with Clerks , Cooks and Mechanics The 101st Band was on the line at The Bastogne . At the Battle of Kaserene Pass the entire First Armor Division Band was captured while re-fueling Tanks as they pulled off the line . These are just a few examples, there are many more . Yes , we played for Pass in Revues , Retirement and Promotions , Funerals , 4th of July Parades , Veterans Day Parades , Retreat and To The Colors but we were Soldiers in The U.S Army - Mike Foxtrot !

I actually worked with the 1st Marine Division Security Platoon, and yes, they are mostly band members. Being a former infantry corpsman, I can say that these dudes were great to work with. Our Plt Sgt was a SSgt Trumpet player and squad leader a baritone player. Both were easy to teach and the whole platoon’s morale was very high because these Marines were eager to do something different aside from their daily playing.

Hey Eric. Sorry to do this to you, but I have a "few" questions. - Would it possible for you to get your doctorate while still enlisted? - Specifically for marching in the Commandant's Own Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, is there an age-out limit that is reached before someone could technically retire with pension? - Why are the contras using 4/4 size and not 5/4 size like the corps used in DCI throughout the 80's and 90's? - Are the Marines making a special deal with Kanstul since they are ceasing production of G bugles? - What mouthpieces do the contras use if they are issued or recommended by superiors? Thank you and please forgive the length of this, I'm way too curious, lol. Have a good morning!

Eric I have a few military related questions, and obviously if you can't answer because of protocol I understand. How does it feel if a civilian addresses you as "Lance Corporal" or other enlisted (not officers) personnel by rank? How is your unit dealing with coronavirus besides not touring, are you still having rehearsal and everything? How old is the oldest marching serviceman in the Commandant's Own? Are there or have there been Marines who have transferred from another role/branch into the Commandant's Own that were not in another band? For the Commandant's Own, do you have a designated music repair serviceman?

If I joined the Marines is there a chance I would be able to get into the Commandant's Own? Also how many bands are actually in the USMC? And how much longer do you plan on being there because I would very much want to meet and play with you in the military. I would probably join in about 4 years so there is your time to guess if you will still be there. I was originally going to join the airforce but you inspired me to not only change paths to be a musician, but to also join the marines. Thank you for your service and I hope you read this and possibly respond. I just want you to know that you are awesome.

How often do musicians across the board have to do ISTs ? And do they have to do any kind of requalification on the rifle while in their unit ?
