2 yrs has past and nearly all Ash in Western NY are dead and becoming hazard's

@@Boost_Addict I know, I moved to Southern Nevada last September and there's a variation of Ash that grows here that's unaffected. I have a few on my new piece of land and I get them treated as well. I told the couple who bought my Angola land that those need to be treated otherwise they'll all die.

Something you can not only tell your grandkids about someday. But also able to physically show your grandchildren living trees having spent their first 120 years preparing for their next 100 or more that your family had patriotically inoculated until danger from fatal infestation populations inevitably past after 12 years. And how spending total of $400 or less after 12 years is an alternative option instead of paying $5,000 to lose already established maturing tree. Then lose one or two new replacement trees costing $300 or more to purchase and install, after 99% of the new trees arrive from nurseries with trunks already to deepen root balls.(Does your family tree service offer root flare excavations using air wands to remove dose of soil & mulch burying trunks?) As a professional arborist your pops must also be excited about prospect of great need to begin structurally pruning thousands of new replacement trees. @@tjhughes7740 In a perfect world yes. But even if EAB disappeared overnight. The deer population is still climbing and they eat huge amount of small woody vegetation so regrowth would takes decades of even possible. I have not been to the national forest since 2020 but I’ve heard it just keep getting worse every year.

Right Lisa, today only unprotected trees succumb to EAB. Ash will be back someday, just like DED resistant American Elm today!

It's far too late in our area. Mountain top isn't far from me, I'm north of Scranton. By the time you see the bark slipping, they are toast.

@@matthewstone8466, I am in wyoming county and I treated my ash trees a few years ago and still am. I hope the treatment continues to work throughout the years

@@matthewstone8466, yes I have had some success, more than half of mine have died but there is still about 5 hanging on, 3 of which I would say are very healthy given the circumstances

My most beautiful tree fell down tonight in a thunderstorm. I’m not sure if it was infected with the EAB but I’m suspicious because of how strange the roots looked. It’s a huge tree. I hope it won’t be hard to have it removed.

Nick K , think they meant plant other than Ash. But EAB won't girdle tree until age eight, or after reaching 1" DBH in stem size. Even back when Elm trees began dying from DED, towns thought of planting with native Elm since such a superior urban tree. Ironically, Ash has been an even superior urban tree. Comparable to sycamore plane tree.

It will take many years as the EAB move across the North American region. The main fear is that they will start to attack other trees once the ash trees are no longer in abundance.

Matt, thankfully EAB does not infect or disease trees like dutch elm disease and chestnut blight had fatally done. While whats only fatal to ash trees, is borers exponentially building population numbers, making it able to reach dangerous "Infestation" stage levels locally. Meaning, it takes a lot of vulnerable trees and a lot of EAB over five years locally to become dangerous. Otherwise ash trees survive low numbers of borers just fine. Also remember, all EAB exit out of trees to fly to other trees and feed on leaves. So it's not like termites that once in tree, remain and continue producing till no more wood remains. Thus once glutinous EAB kills off 99% of its remaining food source, even if EAB continues to survive locally at low levels. It would take 50 years before enough ash trees grew in woods again, and 50 straight years of cities planting all new ash trees. What we now do know is, after 12 years of owners fully protecting family tree. And with last generations of seedling trees now getting older. All the remaining local surviving trees, and the limited EAB will coexist. Without fatally killing off whole trees for foreseeable future.

Does BMSB damage trees like the Ash Borer? I have a couple smaller trees that I think are Ash trees and I see something is eating behind the bark. I assumed it was EAB, but, I did in fact see a BMSB on the tree.

@@idmhead0160 BMSB don't damage trees AFAIK but they do go after fruits so they are devastating to the agriculture industry / farmers

The EAB got every one of my ash trees (also, about a dozen or more) a few years ago but this year i am seeing many(probably 30+) ash tree starts popping up in my landscaped areas. I didn't know of the treatments you can apply back when my mature trees were dying but I am going to try to transplant a few of these starts and start with the treatments to see if I have any luck. I don't have 50 years left to experience a new set of mature ash trees again but I might get to enjoy a few years of shade from these.

The company paid for this production which was not inexpensive. The owner wanted to help educate people across the nation about this invasive bug. That was a public service as not very much info was available at the time. Don’t you think it’s fair he should be able to put his name and info on something the company paid for?

It came from an untreated pallet that was likely from China but could have been from multiple Asian countries.
