My mother-in-law said that she's been making bread since she was 5. Her mother taught her and expected her to make bread daily while the older kids did their jobs and her parents did what they had to for the day. They are Navajo

@@sunderdaswani7388 Thanks for watching! I love the old ways and so much we learn from the old timers. I find it very fascinating to sit with an older person and listen to their stories on how they used to do things.

This method is very similar to the Navaho Fry Bread method.

I have another great recipe that’ll give you better texture for your bread: add a half cup of oil to 6 cups of flour mix well before adding 2 cups of boiling water ( it must be boiling hot when you add it) mix well and don’t forget the salt , this dough can be stored in the fridge up to a week, and you can use it straight from the fridge, it’s great not just for flat bread but also for stuffed bread like a calzone, and if want to meal a sandwich wrap you can make it thin as you can ,place it on your skillet just for seconds ( you don’t want to fully bake it) then add your stuffings then put it again in the skillet or sandwich maker to toast it.

After it’s cooked, brushing melted garlic butter over it would be tasty.

I make mine the same but with a little olive oil added and also with different flour, like spelt, Einkorn, Buckwheat, chickpea, the list goes on. So easy and tasty.

That's a big problem with the current generation. Schools have cut out classes like home ec and shop, so students don't learn the basics like making simple foods or automotive or home repairs. Now it's throw it away and get another one.

Just found your channel. Liking and subscribing. So nice to know of things you can make when supplies are low, or just for fun with the kids. I never made this before, but I can't wait to try this out on my SO. I think I might double the recipe and add a little garlic and garlic oil to it, maybe some Italian seasoning, basil and oregano, and fresh parsley. It would be great flat bread pizzas, but also delicious with hummis or maybe cottage cheese and fruit. I could also see it beingva delicious accompaniment to scrambled eggs and sausage. You have such a welcoming and calming presence about you that is so nice and homey. I feel like I was welcomed into a new friend's home! Thanks for sharing! I will definitely be trying this recipe very soon! Thanks again and God bless you!

I make it then add shredded chicken some salsa and top off with cheese and air fry for about 4-7 minutes. Sometimes I use Alfredo sauce.

Teri, I really enjoyed the video even though I'm 79 and have cooked up a storm my whole life. The only thing I might add to the flour before any liquid would be maybe a touch of garlic and/or any other spice that appealed to me at the moment. People wisely suggest keeping a little butane camp stove handy for power outages, but I also like to make sun ovens when it's hot enough outside to discourage insects from the area. Those can be made very cheaply with a cardboard box lined with tin foil but I save every piece of flashing I come across for one purpose and another - in this case, for sun ovens.

Thanks for showing how easy it is 😊 I tried making a sort of calzone, where I rolled out the bread and put some stuffing that I liked in it Then folded it up and baked it. I guess you might need an oven for it, but you could do it in a hot pan too. Anyway, it came out not bad. I could use a little more practice, though Lol

It may be stale to YOU, Susan, but not everyone grew up in a cooking family. Not everyone is 65 either. So your statement is tone deaf. Some younger folk are seeking to relearn the fine art of home cooking too, and videos may be more enjoyable to them than ratty old recipe cards. BTW, I'm 79 - so don't try to pull age rank on me. I say HOORAY to Teri and other people who care enough to share their knowledge. Another good channel for people on a budget is Hillbilly Kitchen. I don't agree with that lady's politics or a lot of her theology for that matter, but she can really cook! And even after a hard life, she truly seems to care about people so I have respect for her as well.
