The best way to try and deduce how the absentees fit into this system is comparing Preseason to what’s been happening mid-late. Carney been in that deeper Enzo role at times and also the third free roaming attacker when Gallagher wasn’t there. Nkunku more or less was in the Palmer role. We cannot exclude the closest player to elite that we have in Nkunku. Imo you can look at switching it up by having a LB hold width and Nkunku being in the left half space, just like Palmer now on the right. You’d have Palmer and the RW interchanging on the right side with one free roaming with the other a bit wider. Then you’d have Reece Badiashile Colwill as the three and Enzo/Caicedo as a staple pivot. There’s a lot of different profiles with Reece Gusto Fofana Lavia that you may see as outsiders to this new system, or instead he can utilise them by plugging them into different areas and I could see everyone playing a part. Of course the main thing is the press (and is why I don’t think Poch is the right man with the type of squad we got) but you’d hope he can get everyone going in a compact off the ball shape where there’s less space to cover - easier to press.

Only a lunatic wouldn’t play ENZO cos he’s CLASS and KEY to every midfield structure. IMO

There is something we are missing from this system. It’s not only Cucurella that inverts in this system. For zonal pressing which happens in this system, no zone in the pitch is left unoccupied and all players will need to be willing to change positions to have an extra passing option and for overloads. What Poch needs to do sustain this is to do more training drills in positional play.

No team should change a winning system to accommodate a “lazy player” because of poor work rate. Step up or be benched/sold

It's naive to say there was no structure previously. There was, but it's either; 1. The players did not understand the structure deployed or not tactically aware to implement it properly at a time 2. The structure did not suit the players hence, it always looked very disjointed

I dont think this system will carry on, Reece james is an attacking fullback and you cannot have two inverted fullbacks so one must stay back as a CB meaning his talents are wasted (same issue with Gusto) Nkunku will not have a role in this team as he is not a striker and palmer is claiming the CAM position. Enzo cannot fit in while the gallagher role is in play since he cannot do it so he would have to rotate with caicedo. Owners wont want 200 million sitting on the bench. My guess is gallagher is sold along with chalobah and Poch is forced to find a new system with two fullbacks or he will be replaced.

I think two things are correct when it comes to Gallagher: Gallagher has improved on and off the pitch with leadership and playin, the owners will sell him regardless of his improvements.
