My dad is 80 years old and he said that Shohei is the best baseball player he’s ever seen and he started watching MLB in the 1950s. Dad just shakes his head when he watches Ohtani. He says that Shohei does everything well and makes it look easy.

How is it that he's not even in the conversation for AL MVP? Every year he plays, he's the most valuable player. It's not even close. If he could only pitch OR DH, he'd still be wanted by EVERY team in MLB. Great show mate!

Ben, thank you for your awesome emergency Shohei Ohtani reaction video. I swear, I have been a Phillies fan for over 27 years and I have never seen any human being accomplishing what Shohei Ohtani is doing . 2 nights...it took just two consecutive nights to show us the most brilliant two-way performances ever! 8 RBI...I've only seen that one other time, Jayson Werth with the Phillies. Then, the very next night, he completely annihilated the Royals, the same team that scored 12 runs against the Angels the night before. I still found that difficult to believe that Shohei's 8 RBI wasn't enough to win the game! 🤯 8 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 13 K. This, as you said, Ben, is historical.

1. I talk about him just as much as you probably do! I absolutely love this guy and to be an Angels fan and see what he is doing is incredible!!!! Every time he comes to the plate....I wait to see what he will do. I LOVE THIS GUY and to see the response being a fan in the stands at Angel Stadium when he comes to the plate or the mound is incredible...the MVP chants and the love that Anaheim has for Shohei...there is nothing like it!!!!! Well, that may be too far into FantasyLand, but even if Ohtani did that it would hardly rate attention from the brainless commentators who dominate on ESPN and elsewhere--blathering on, as they do, about the latest rumor about some NBA player who might be traded or might be unhappy or might be getting a big contract or might be mad at some other player. Stupid talking heads with no perspective on athletic accomplishment and what really matters.

Combined with his super incredible skill set, Shohei is humble, respectful and is quite simply, a “Class Act”. He has heightened strong interest in baseball and is an excellent role model for what the human spirit is able to achieve with passion, unrelenting desire, focused discipline and hard work. I believe his father’s coaching and mentoring instilled his character and values. It’s an interesting video of Shohei’s youth.

奥様のツイートでベンを知って、ベンが面白くて待ち受けになってました。大谷が去年活躍する前からベンのファンです。話し方というか、発音がアメリカ訛りが無いような気がします。アナウンサーとしてネイティブになっているからか、日本人にも聞き取りやすくてスポーツニュースを見た時はさらに好きになりましたね。

Aaron Judge is having a good season so far. But Othani is this years MVP, as long as Othani continues to pitch at a high level and hit the way he does, there is no one to be condider for MVP but him. I have said it before , if this kid was white, he would get all the accolades,, no question. And all of you know this.

Ben, do you have any insight as to why Trout and Walsh were both not playing on Wednesday? It almost seems as though the Angels don't care if they win or lose particularly when Shohei is pitching. This was not the first time Trout took a rest day when Shohei was on the mound. It worked out this time, but that will not always be the case. Shohei needs the support of his whole team if they are going to be playoff contenders right? Have they given up on the playoffs? I am very frustrated and confused by this. Great show. Love the Shohei segments.

They were scheduled days off for Trout and Walsh, but this isn't the first time this has happened when Shohei pitched. There were quite a few other times Maddon rested Trout, Walsh and a few of the other starters and literally had triple A players playing.

In Japan, there is an opinion that the Angels may be trying to devalue Ohtani. The reason is that he needs to lower the annual salary he pays Ohtani.

Tony Clonginger did not hvae 13ks, so Shohei is the only player in MLB history to have 8+ RBIs and 13+ Ks in a career and he did it in back to back games. WOW

動画ありがとうございます！大谷選手が僕も好きです！コメント欄を見ていて、大谷選手が投手の時、トラウト選手や休んでることに色々思うことはファンの人はあるかもしれませんが、大谷選手はチームメイトに批判がいくのは、1番彼の心が辛くなりそうだから、応援して欲しい。おそらく大谷選手は全て理解した上で投げていると思う。これは彼がワールドチャンピオンになることを諦めてない証明なのかもしれない。主力が休ませることが出来る投手はほぼいない。彼はMVPや殿堂入りを気にはしてない様に思える。彼は世界一の選手を目指してるのだろう。世界一の選手が、チームを世界一にする選手と言うなら彼はそうなることに努力を惜しまないし、彼は世界ナンバーワンプレーヤーになると信じてます。1番は大谷選手が楽しく、健康でプレーしてることが1番だと僕は思ってます。例え、認めない人が居ても、僕の中では、彼は世界ナンバーワンプレーヤーです。まだまだ、色々なことを成し遂げる。完全試合をした、翌日に全打席ホームランと言うとてつもないことをする可能性だってある。でもそれは大谷選手以外居ない。いずれ、誰よりもベースボールを愛し、ベースボールに愛された、世界ナンバーワンプレーヤーと言われる日が訪れると信じていますし、健康で誰よりもベースボールを楽しんでくれたら、僕は十分です。

8回まで投げ抜く。これは、2021シーズン後半から心に誓っていた投手スタイルです。それ以前は、6回で 100級越え交代、中継ぎ投手が脆くて打たれ翔平に勝ち点が付かない試合が数々あった。まず、6回で 100級越えというピッチングの問題。私的いうと翔平は「荒れ球」であった。よってHR は少ないが、試合時間の長い投手であった。四球が多い走者に苦しむ。スプリットに伴うキャッチャーの後逸などピッチャーとしては、打ち難い方だが「問題児」でもあった。　2022シーズンは、ピッチャーとしてガラリと人柄が変わって日本から帰ってきた。つまり、100球 ÷ 8回 = 12.5 球/回　12.5 球 ÷ 3打者 = 4.166…球/打者　という計算になる。　つまり、平均的に、1打者に使える球数は、 4.166…球しかない。審判判定の「見逃しストライク」ないしは・空振り・ファールで勝負することになる。　8回を 108 球で終えたという事は、打者二人を出した事によるものです。その他は、1打者 4.166…球を守った省エネピッチだった。　その内、8回を「完全試合」、9回を「完全試合」という事もあるだろう。
