My god that doctor that asked the first question at the end just loved to hear himself talk. he was rambling on and on so much its obvious the "efficiency" he talks about is all in his mind. the presenter did a great job, made some great points, and didn't deserve to have irrelevant rants come spewing at him by some guy with an inflated self image.

That was crystal clear. I agree the doctors asking the questions didn't get it. Timely efficient documentation sharpens the mind, addressing concerns rapidly shortens encounters not lengthens them.

I am an emergency medicine physician and this video has really shaped my thinking and practice. This is required viewing for current trainees and even for current attending physicians. 1) Resuscitation, 2) Life Threats, 3) Symptom Relief, 4) Disposition, 5) ED Flow, 6) Customer Service, 7) Resource Stewardship, 8) Public Health.

This is such a realistic, safe approach, his points are clear, practical and in the best interest of the patient. I don't understand the comments at the end, nowhere in the presentation did the speaker suggest or imply that we should "spend one hour casually chatting with the patient" while we are are aware others are waiting to be seen.

This is the essence of emergency medicine with probabilistic thinking in mind - well delivered as always by Reuben

I am a Personal Support worker and these principles are very helpful when going from client to client you can read the care plan and quickly identify what they need. Thank you for the lecture! Hopefully, i will be a doctor one day and apply this in an ED.

Simple presentation even understandable for "layer" patients...goals : efficiency and liabilities covered..Thumbs up Dr Strayer.. I found this video as studying for a medical interpreting certification exam. at least I was very helpful for me Mainly to know about the group of conditions inside the wheel. Gracias !!

Is it possible to get a copy of the handout?

I’m a nurse practitioner student studying towards neuro…but i did work in the ED for a long time and I was a paramedic for thirty years…I always reminded students…our job is to keep them alive long enough to let the docs fix em…I remember being a terrified sixteen year old EMT…and wondering what’s wrong so I could follow the right protocol…nope…A…B…C…D…worry about the particulars after the patient is good enough that you and they are going to make it…it’s about the patient’s needs first…I really think this is a great presentation… :). Thanks doc… :). This approach applies in all medical disciplines…neuro too…they must be alive for a detailed history to take place…top down… :)
