@@LilyCReads10 Lol there are no canoes in Book Lovers a far as I remember so why is that on the cover?? 😂 The romance is between two people in the book publishing industry so the title is at least a little more applicable, but the romance is also secondary to the story between the protagonist and her sister.

I've read Beach Read and Book Lovers in the span of a couple weeks. To me, Emily Henry's books are the equivalent of the Hallmark movie. Are they the same? Yes. Are they predictable? Yes. Do I have a fun time reading them in a not caring, chill sort of way? Yes. I think these are cute reads, but by NO MEANS literary masterpieces. They are simply a palate cleanser.

I’m glad that I’m not the only one who feels the same way about about Emily Henry. Also, in the first chapter of “People We Meet on Vacation,” the main character says, “I’ve never liked any of his girlfriends.” I knew that I wouldn’t like the book. Wow, I’m very surprised! I felt very different about Beach Read! I felt like it was an intentional blend of genres- mixing the convenience and HEA vibes of a romance novel with the reality and dealing with personal traumas and past hurts of lit fic. I also felt like we got quite a good amount of writing related content without it being the only thing we saw on page. I haven’t read the second one yet, so I’ll watch that part after I read it!!

I love your unintentional Elizabethan attire. What other historial figures or eras can you coincidentally exude? Pre-raphaelites? French New Wave? Y2K? Emily Henry should write a novel called "The Book of Gardens/The Garden Book" about an archaelogist that learns about honeybees. Nothing about a garden, but there are bees and they like gardens.

This is my first time watching your video and oh my, you're literally speaking my mind. Beach Read didn't feel fun at all although I thought it was just me cos everyone seemed to enjoy it lol. I also couldn't bring myself to finish People We Meet On Vacation. It's so boring. Book Lovers wasn't so bad though. Nora had some meaningful back story (her mum, the city, the hardships). And the story is actually about book lovers. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one!

I am 5 minutes into the video, and I am gonna stop before I spoil myself more of Beach Read 😂😂 but anyways, from your description alone it's seems like yes, Emily Henry does have a formula as my first book of her's was Book Lovers. And let me tell you how mad I was that we didn't have 'a lot' of book loving scenes. Like where's the part they gush on book characters? Book arcs? Book plots? None! It was written as between a literary agent and an editor who discusses books. 😭😭😭 LIKE! The art of book loving (for me) comes from the reader first then the people who work in the publishing industry. I gave it a 4 because it was good. But as you said, WE HAVE BEEN BETRAYED! 😂😭😂😭

LOL!!! I agree the title of Beach Reads is misleading, but they do live on a beach (from a northern Midwest US standard). As a South Florida gal, I tease my Michigander husband about his version of beaches. For most of the non-coastal United States, a beach can be a beach of a lake and many people in northern states don't use it strictly the ways they do in southern places. For example, in Miami it's hard to find someone not in a bathing suit. Where I grew up in Long Island, NY, there were tons of people fully clothed hanging on a boardwalk as well as people in bathing suits. I think the beach in this book was a northern one. The beaches on the Great Lakes are often just backdrops of boating activities with people fully clothed hanging out on their decks (especially when the tide is so low which it often stays for years). At least, that's how my in laws use their beach house. Just felt like I needed to defend my husband's people since I tease them so much about it lol!!
