EMILY, YOU NEVER GIVE UP - A STORY ABOUT HOW I BECAME PARALYSED
After I left hospital for a spinal cord injury, I made a short documentary about becoming paralysed and time in hospital. I got into 7 film festivals, which I am very proud of because before my injury it had been a dream of mine to get into a film festival. Now I have achieved that goal!
I hope you enjoy my film and see the impact the people made in making my time in hospital an easier and more enjoyable.

Yes, English class right? Well your KZfaq name helps me remember 😂. But I do remember you! Thank you so much for your comment! Yes I have come a long way since year 9, not so shy and would never have imagined I would have the confidence to have my own KZfaq channel 😂 but thank you so much for remembering me, watching my film and commenting, means a lot thank you 😁

I'm the same way in a wheelchair but not because of an accident and did not have damage to my back, just 3 strokes and I fried my brain in the walking dept, so here I am scooting around in my wheeled chair being so grateful I didn't die. I'm 82 and on the last few laps of the main event, life. But I'm going for it full throttle. So sorry to see your condition but you are so full of life like myself that I had to send you a thumbs up, big hug and lots of Aloha from Hawaii.

Another great video..And what interesting informations. You experienced so strange and difficult situation and your video helps many people to understand many other sides of sci. Yes there are many thing to learn everyday.. so difernetn things..All this that hapenned with your voice, your feed, your first transfer and ...etc just says that a sci is something very complicated and it is not just 'not walk', so thanx again for this infos and we wait more videos with more. As i see you, i bet that the bad times,cries,thoughts are a small minority to your great altitude, positiveness and smile. At the end, everyone has each ups and downs, why not you? ahhahha.. I hold this from your words : each new day = each new adventure, i will add : each new smile !!! Go on!!

Emily, thank you so much for telling your story, my story. Well mine is a bit different. I am 69 and 6 weeks ago I had a very big blood clot in my aorta arteria. I am now paraplegic T6. I do not remember 2 weeks of ICU and intensive care. I do remember week #3 when I hallucinated due to pain killers. After that I had great memories with nurses and CNA's and also my therapist. We now live the same lives, suck up the bad days and smile, enjoy the good days. After 6 weeks, I'm still in shock, not sure I understand yet what happened yet. Why me? I was so active. So like I just keep going. I was released from the hospital a week ago and I already cook, clean, take the garbage out, etc. You video is spot on. You haven't missed a thing, the technical aspect, the feelings, the discovery that being paralyzed is more that just your legs not moving anymore. No one can understand unless they are in our situation, yet you showed them so well. Thank you.

Thank you for watching my video 😊 Good to hear your home but as far as having those feelings, I’m afraid they might be pop up sometimes for your first couple of years. This injury is life changing and takes a while to become a new normal. What I do when those feelings come up is I try and think about 3 things I love about my life now. That seems to help me but everyone has their own strategies and ways of coping. 😊

Hearing your story, you would be an inspiration to many others disabled or not. I can think of some whom I know who'd benefit from having your determination and spirit and they are completely able-bodied but choose to dwell in self-pity. I think you have achieved so much and I can see it doesn't just stop there. It's sad that out of the several billion people who watch KZfaq only about 19,000 have seen this, but 10s millions would watch some teen rave on about a rented lifestyle which isn't even real. You my dear have a story that should be heard and Google should promote it better, IDK sometimes there is little thought about the things that really matter. Example: I've been on YT for about 14 years I live in South Australia and today was the first day that your channel was shown to me.

dreamgirls so I’m what’s called Asia B, that means I have some sensory. So I have altered sensation on my right side of my stomach and right thigh. So when I touch that area I can kinda feel something it’s not the same as before my injury but it’s something. I am incomplete so that means I may get more sensation and movement or may not 🤷‍♀️ who knows. I’m actually doing videos on my channel of trying to get more this year

So your C1 wasn't a SCI? It would have been a decapitation if it were right? That makes me cringe. What? Wait...I have a traumatic brain injury (TBI) was what made me not remember? I also don't remember the accident (mine wasn't a car accident)....we thought the TBI was well AFTER the SCI.
@EmQuattrocchi
@EmQuattrocchi 4 жыл бұрын
My sci was t4 but the vertebrae at C1 was fractured, it’s called a Jefferson fracture 😊 I am very lucky my spinal cord was not injured there. I might have not explained that right in the video, sorry! So they told me I had an ABI, so I have no memory of a couple of days before the accident, the accident or about a month after (the month after I had short term memory loss as well). People have told me it is better not to remember my accident but I wish I did so I know what happened, do you wish you remembered your accident?
@morgancalvi6675
@morgancalvi6675 4 жыл бұрын
@@EmQuattrocchiwow! That's a long line between bursts...C1 to T4. Are you sure there were no other vertebrates damaged in between? Radiopedia says Jefferson fractures can involve up to 4 vertebrates. What is an 'ABI'? I have memory loss/sketchiness of a few years. I kind of remember right before...but I have very little memory of afterwards or a few years afterward. It's weird. I do wish I had that memory because honestly, I don't even remember Henry was in a wheelchair...although the kid he hung around with was in one from being shot...or was that Henry 🤔? It's weird. I wasn't treated right away. My next fuzzy memory was the next day when I woke up in bed and couldn't hold my head up. Perhaps if I had remembered, I'd have gotten treatment right away. Nothing hurt though...and THAT was strange. They explained it's because my nerve signals were interrupted to my brain when the neck broke.
@EmQuattrocchi
@EmQuattrocchi 4 жыл бұрын
Morgan Calvi Well that’s what the doctor told me, and explained it was the way of the impact of the accident. But as I have been told lots of times and learnt everyone is different and everyone’s injury is different 😆 so I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ And an ABI is an acquired brain injury, I think its the same but TBI is the more specific name. That’s just what doctors and everyone call it for me.
@morgancalvi6675

@@EmQuattrocchi I'm sorry, I think I asked you that before...so this was the second time you answered. I have a temporal lobe damage (all 4 sides) along with my spinal cord injury...but I think the brain damage may have come either before or after. I have a few sketchy years around the time of my injury.
