Back in 2012. A conversation at work with the GM. I brought that idea up, the third arm. Who ever figures this out will have a winner. I was working for a manufacturing company then. i love this lady's brain !

Inserts: modify the solder iron tip if that is all you use if for, make it fit the insert. Then you can also use a lighter to get it to heat up fast, and the iron just keeps it hot. Clamp the piece, use second hand with tweezers to keep the insert in the tip, then press. I made an adapter to bench drill so i can get straight motion. The "press and wait" is good for one but more than four.. you want to make a tool for it, it is so easy to fuck up. In the end, it is not much stronger than tapped threads, only when the piece needs to be taken apart often. Hidden nut is for pull strength.

you know i used to work at a scrap yard moving tires im strong enough to carry 6 at a time but i can actually see this making it easier not just for me but some of the guys that struggled to move 3 at a time id buy it it might need to be more sturdy then plastic but it can be a huge help for moving

Only half way thru but the rubber things as someone with mobility issues especially holding grip for long duration shit looks awesome

The most hilarious bit is how with making a control handle for the third arm, you've made your original hand less useful to do stuff, so you're kinda just back with 2 hands, 1 hand if we're talking practicality

Having multiple arms like Doc Ock from Spider-Man would be overwhelmingly helpful with construction. I have tons of situations where I needed another set of hands, but there either wasn’t enough space for a second person, or more often than not, my coworker was a buffoon and I was often far better off struggling by myself.
