I saw Ed Sheeran give an interview years ago where he said he had a terrible stutter as a kid and memorized the entire Marshall Mathers LP to help get rid of it when speech therapy wasn't working. So seeing him play for Em now, I just can't imagine how much it meant to him.

The set list was perfect. Rap God is a display of lyrical and technical ability. Sing For the Moment is a direct product of rock influence and Eminem at his most lyrically substantial. Stan is a direct line to the obsession with fame and celebrity towards people who very much like the audience is only human, and the song he performed with Elton at the peak of what many believed was Em's attack on homie sexual attraction. It's the duette that showed he was more than the news made him out to be. Forever was the song that pulled Eminem off his brief hiatus with a verse so hard he stole the whole track. And cemented the notion that the man was irreplaceable in hip hop. Not Afraid was the all new all different Eminem, faced down addiction and came out a new more introspective individual. We heard an entire lifetime through lyrics, whether they be his best or worse bars the set took us through his highs and lows

He respects the GAME so much 6. Most successful rap artist of all time 7. He's a living legend *Like you, I only liked his old music. BUT don't sleep on the 2008 Relapse. That albums word play & rhyme scheme is a straight masterpiece even though it's horror core.

Tofu Teh...was it? Yeah John here. I am more for realities, and being an absolute asshat when required....and we are getting there. Donuts are not my bliss....they're food and I eat em for breakfast. I ain't being a victim for anyone. Shit I ain't even a victim for myself. And I do not like other people enough to be for them. Actually I take that back. I'd be a victim for one celebrity.....Janet. Ride or die for that icon. So I guess you are right. Just not in this format. You must be a spammer, because you can be right and wrong at the same time. Go figure. Such talent. On Crooks Corner Lord Jamar stated flatly he is only a "guest" of hip-hop, and he'll never be true hip-hop. Charlemagne and Budden have stated the exact same thing and worse. Going so far as to say he is not even a real rapper. And so many hip-hop artists have discredited him just for being a whitie. Dre did not give that little nugget in his speech for nothing. They trash him and try to take away his credibility quite often. So I am not trying to be a victim for THIS celebrity. I am stating a simple fact. And take the wealth aspect of the comment and shove it right up your lifesaver. That has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation. MGK is rich (25 mill).....and that shit stain does not even hold a candle to the other rap artists. So yeah....mute point. Now stop. Seriously I am being a nice guy right now, because I am supposed to be more patient with younger people (You are definitely younger....literally everything gives that away). Enjoy bringing your donuts and rainbows together in bliss. Leave this dog alone. I do not hold to social norms of today's triggered, safe space, constantly offended at everything. Do not bark up this tree, or we will find out who is the victim of who.

From the teen boy earning his dues in rap battles at hiphop shops to the 20 year old young man desperate to get out of poverty & provide for his new child, through the height of his fame with 8 mile movie and drug addiction to nearly dying to the sober matured 50 year old man he is now. Music, Literature, Art is a portal to the past. I got goosebumps. I saw my entire childhood and young adult life listening to this. All the major downs in my life, Hip Hop has gotten me through it. My journey began with DMX and Eminem (they came out around the same time) my mom wouldn't let me buy their albums. She listened to Hispanic music but I didn't connect to it. My father was Black and my experiences have been as a Black kid. She didn't understand that and at the time I didn't know how to articulate that point. I knew Biggie and Pac but by the time I learned about them they were already gone. I had no choice but to record their music on tape so I could listen to it and the radio in Florida at the time was like Club music (come and ride my train played a lot). Later, my friend actually invited me over and showed me this CD with a cartoon vicodin pill on it and we sat down and listened to it and it was Eminem. The album was great, cartoonish violence, funny, dark, and at times sobering. I was 14 but when I heard Brain Damaged I could tell, even through the humor, there was pain. I related to his music. His cadence, his flow, his storytelling, his style everything. Em was my guide through Hip Hop. I love how he always thanks those who inspired him. That's why I never understood why people try to tear down his impact. There are white rappers who don't have a list as long as Em's and they get more love. If it weren't for Em I wouldn't know to go back and listen to Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Masta Ace, KRS-one, Pharcyde, Beastie Boys and so many others. The age we live in is amazing. KZfaq and spotify, all instruments to go in and listen to Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, Redman, WuTang, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots. Em did that for me and that is why he is my favorite rapper. I'm beyond happy for him. He wears his love of Hip Hop and the culture built from it proudly. During a time I'm sure he would get both shunned by older white people who didn't understand it, and Black people who said he didn't belong. He could've easily said fuck it and been an accountant or something, But he didn't and his dedication to the craft is getting recognized. He taught me to take the pain and anger and sadness and frustration and channel it into art. "Rabbit Run" is my favorite Em song because he captures the struggle of the world on your shoulders and the pressure of mundane life while you try to realize your passion through unconventional means on an unconventional path, and he does it with so much passion and pain. All of this is well deserved. Hip Hop music is beautiful! Congrats Em!

Love hearing your perspective from someone whos in the rap game, Scru When Em said something along the lines of 'something inside me is a little more happy when im angry' , i completely agreed with your timeline of the favorite era of his music. I was 7 years old when 8 mile came out, 18 when i first saw it, high school when I was obsessed with music, and college when music became a backdrop for what i really wanted to do in my life. Now, it’s a reminder of how I can contribute as a florida boy.

Em as an Artist either way is amazing. He worked for it. Even if yoh don't like him, gotta respect the work flow. I like most of his work. He has variety and style not alot can copy. They can try but there will never be another Em like Marshal. He opened the doors for alot of people to full appreciate hip-hop

19:30 Same Scru, same... Grew up listening to classic rock and early 90s due to my parents and the music that was around in my time. Beasties and Coolio were some of my first cassettes, but when Em dropped Infinite, Em was in my discman for so many long drives the CDs wore out about 5 discmans.
