It’s so frustrating that 99% of these were literal animal abuse. I wish people would actually research proper animal care before getting a pet 😔

exactly!! not too long ago my aunt came over and wanted to see my pet mouse. I showed her and she said he was really adorable, that when she was younger she had like six mice and she absolutely adored them. but then she went on to say that eventually they got sick with something that could've made her sick as well so she had to get rid of them. I understood until she said her parents took them and then released them into the field across from their house...😬😬😬

My aunt killed my turtles. I had two turtles for about four years. Then I moved to university. My uncle had snakes and he said he had room and would love to take the turtles for me. He upgraded their tanks and things looked great! A year ago I found out that my aunt got tired of the turtles and let them go..... I am still really mad. Because I would have taken them back. I graduated last year and live on my own. Yes. I will never let her and my uncle take anything of mine anymore.

The one thing that annoys me is that when you try to inform these people 9 out of 10 times they just call you a "Tik Tok vet"and their fans / them will basically tell you to "shut up and you don't know anything and this is how the pet stores has them or this is what the pet stores told me" 😒😭😔

In the UK we have those laws, its focused more towards invasive species though. Its the wildlife and countryside act 1981, within it, its states you cannot release non native species into the wild. On a more basic level you are definitely breaking the animal welfare act 2006 by doing it. Ie the whole 5 animal needs etc

I am honestly so happy to see someone with the same opinions as me when it comes to pet care... I often feel like people think my thoughts are 'extreme'. I just think that if you buy a pet (an animal that is born into this world for your enjoyment) it is your responsibility to give them the best life possible! If you do you can have one of the most rewarding relationships of all time, it can be truly magical. I am very passionate about animals and am very interested in habitat design. (I know I shouldn't have any pets other than millipedes right now, so I research animals I want and make detailed 'floor plans' and extensive care guides instead)

Not only is releasing any animal, not just domestic animals, into the wild a possible overnight death sentence but this is also how we get problems like the boas and tegus down in the everglades. Horrifying to see people abandon their pets in the wild AND FILM IT. I just can't wrap my head around it. I helped to rescue an abandoned rat once, he was lurking on someone's backyard, and the house owner was bright enought to notice it was a pet rat and called some rat people. I happened to live nearby, so I went there and after hours of waiting I managed to catch him into a travel box with food and my rats' smell in it. He was the best and most loving little guy right when I got him back inside, but sadly I had girls so he went for adoption. And yes, he was sadly probably abandoned, because a similar looking rat had been found nearby like two weeks earlier :/

If you have a male mouse, you think they're lonely, and you can't/won't neuter, there's been some really interesting colonies people have been making of African Soft Fur Rats/Mastomys natalensis females with male fancy mice (or male M. natalensis and female fancy mice), they're similar in so many ways that they treat each other as conspecifics, but cannot interbreed. A lot of people have started breeding them, either as pets or as feeder animals, so that's always something you can investigate.

There really is no excuse for people to treat their mouse friends like this. It breaks my heart seeing them in tiny cages with no toys, wrong type or size of wheel, wrong bedding, wrong floor covering, wrong food. My mum and I have been keeping mice for many years and before we got them we went online and found out everything we could about keeping mice and made sure our local vet dealt with pocket pets. It’s so easy to get it right. ☹️

I never understood the process of impulsively buying an animal without knowing anything about it. Like, what’s the point? You may not even like the animal, you may accidentally kill the animal, and just by purchasing it from a pet shop you’re already making a mistake

can people just notice how just because the animal is small DOES NOT mean they go in a small cage.

How do these mouse releasers not notice how starkly the white stands out against the place they're releasing them?! Do they legitimately have no understanding of how animals survive in the wild?!

One of my moms friends was saying how she wanted to get her 3 little kids another pet because their dogs and chickens are apparently not enough, so she said " I should get them a little hamster or something! I am sure they would absolutely love to put it in one of those little balls and roll it around the house. And they only need small cages so they don't take up to much room. " I was like " nooooooo! ". Hopefully they don't end up getting one, if they do i might have to steal it and give it a better home. Lol

me and my mom bought 3 mice, and we got a critter trail cage, but we put the cage in a big bin. They have most of their toys outside of the cage, and 2 wheels. They like to sleep inside their cage tho
@Emiology
@Emiology 3 жыл бұрын
As long as the bin cage itself is the correct size above the minimum you could connect the critter trail with a tube to the bin cage to give them more space 🙂
