I'm very sorry for your loss of Fleet. Regardless of whether we're acclimatised to that sort of heat here, it's still too hot for our pets and I would have pulled them from a hot room too. That's why I tell people it doesn't matter if your rabbit or other pet is in dog crate or smaller enclosure simply in a laundry or something with the bare essentials for a couple of days, just get them out of the heat. Also Orbit is adorable :)

I’m getting 4 or 5 male rats from a rescue center in about a week and a half and your videos and store have really helped us. We visited that same deer park a few years ago and there were few week old collie puppies that we had on our lap 😍

There were 8 boys all cramped in a small hamster cage on a trash diet and they hadn’t been cleaned out in months. There was also their dad on his own. I don’t know who would do that to these poor animals but at least they will have the best life possible now

The heatwave was awful for me and my pets. We weren't prepared enough, though I thought we were, and as a result one of my older Hamsters sadly suffered too much in the heat, and had to be rushed to the emergency Vets, where he passed away in his sleep the following morning.. Both me, and the Vets were hoping he would pull through, since he showed signs of perking up before I left him, but.. It was just too much for his little body. A Vet Nurse was with him when he passed away, she told me that he waddled into his hide, lay down, and just.. Went to sleep, and that was it. Hearing the news over the phone at 8:30am shocked me, especially as I was already preparing to bring him home.. It shattered my heart into a million pieces. It really showed me that I need to be even more prepared than I already was to handle sudden temperature changes like that.. 40 Degrees is just too much. Next time, I'm going to have an evacuation plan in place.

I'm so sorry, I hope you don't blame yourself, no amount of preparing can change the way our houses are here and old animals are always more susceptible to the heat. Without air con, even with doing all the things I usually do, i'm pretty certain I would have lost Wispa that day too

@@Emiology Thank you for your sympathy Em! For a while, I did blame myself.. I kept wondering what I could have done differently, cursing how unfair and sudden it was. I had just gotten home from my own Summer holiday two days prior aswell, so it felt like I hardly got to see him before he passed. Our old buildings simply aren't suited for extreme heat.. At least, I can use this as a learning experience, and hopefully it never happens again. I'm going to collect his ashes in 2 weeks time. His name was Snowball - He was a rescue, and while he was only in my life for 11 months, I loved him dearly. I'm rescuing a new friend tomorrow from a Shelter - A little Robo saved from a hoarding situation. :) I can't wait to start bonding with him in a week or so. The best way I can honour Snowball's memory is to remember what he loved. He loved being my friend - I'm more than happy to be another Hamster's friend too. :)

It was fun seeing all the pets again. Your rats are so big and adorable. Sorry to hear that one of your older ones is not doing so well. It's always sad to see then grow old so quickly. I recently lost two of my girls to old age. Because that left my neutered boy alone, I had to quickly turn around and adopt new babies. Owning rats is such an emotional roller-coaster.

Modified my 2 Ferplast cages into a tower block because I’d introduced my two babies to my two one year olds and I needed one big cage for all four girls. Youngsters love it, the older pair are a bit daunted by the height. Love the bloggs, keep it going 👌

good news ! my new rats have been skittish but today one of them, (tiny little guy, pluto) finished licking the spoon, came up, and began licking my finger. this is progress !! I’m very proud of him

I switched to snowflake supreme for my rattos after you mentioned it last time! I had been using Aubiose at first, then I went bioactive. I didn’t mind Aubiose but it did seem to make me sneeze! Bioactive was amazing for the smell but the soil got EVERYWHERE. I was always finding it in my bed, carpets, clothes etc, and all over their hammocks! So far enjoying snowflake! It still gets dropped out the cage (all bedding does!) but feels cleaner, they love digging in it, and even carry it up to their nests!

Glad you're enjoying it! I'm not against trying something else to see if theres anything slightly less dusty but it's way better, the Aubiose would make its way downstairs and all over but with this being bigger pieces so far it's not as bad!

Oh sweet Wispa, your little face keeps making my heart melt. ❤ I keep thinking what is the rodent you want to get (hopefully it's fine if I put my guess here 😅) and I keep leaning towards harvest mice. I could be totally wrong though, I don't know much about their care, but if they use a wheel then I think thanks to their tiny size they would be able to use that wheel.

I remember last summer when it was so hot here in Finland, luckily I have ac in my house and I just kept all doors and windows closed so it was quite cool inside. I have more trouble in the winter keeping my room warm enough for my rats, especially nowadays that electricity is so expensive.. And I'm just scared of any draft that could cause problems for my rats and their lungs 😅

The only room I have working Aircon in is my bedroom. That's where I keep my chinchilla so he doesn't overheat. The other rooms I have fans blowing everywhere and I use Chilled tiles for my rabbits to lay on.

We have two chinchillas, and the heat can be fatal for them! So I'm very grateful, that the building in which we live is a typical German house from 1938 😂 If you keep the windows and shutters closed at daytime, it stays nice and cool (around 22°C, max 25°C)! I personally hate summer, because of the heat...

Hey, I live close to the deer safari and sadly they've always mistreated their small animals, it's been a while since I've been but last time they had their guinea pigs and rabbits in the smallest hutches I've ever seen and didn't have any water for them, so sad to hear they haven't improved 😢

I think it would be awesome for you to do an art show or gallery with all of the projects that all of your rats and/or other animals have made since you’ve had them even if it’s just a short little video or part of one of these videos. Or even a silent auction or some type of art sale where you could donate all of the proceeds to some type of animal shelter

Hey there! I love your videos and find them really helpful. I have talked to and met so many people who suggest I watch your channel and I always say I do already! I have 3 mice and I’m planning to upgrade their cage. The main reason is a little one of mine is a little sick and the vet suggests I stopped scatter feeding so she can get to the food easier instead of having to look for the food. Also they’ve been in this cage for a while and they deserve a upgrade. I was curious what cage you use and if it’s DIY how? If you’ve made a video on this I’m really sorry I’m asking I’ve looked and couldn’t find one! (P.S. fleet lived an amazing life with you and I’m sure he was very happy! I’m so sorry for your lost.)

I was wondering how you give your snake enrichment as I own 3 (2 royals and a kingsnake) and have been wanting to add some more enrichment to their enclosures. I know having multiple hides, lots of clutter and climbing opportunities are all good things for enrichment, but I was curious if you had any ideas about more things that I could do on days I can’t get them out to explore in their playpen. Also, I read an article recently that said researchers found pairing male mice was more beneficial compared to the risks of fighting/injuries/death than keeping them singularly due to their social needs. I was wondering what you thought about this and if you would consider a male/male pairing if the only other option was to keep them separately from one another. Thank you Emi and I hope your health remains as well as it can be. I honestly don’t know how you can handle everything you do while struggling with your illness. You’re one strong lady and an inspiration to all. ☺️💕

Most things get restocked weekly. If something is out of stock it’s a shortage with the supplier and we’re not able to get it in at this time

I have my big double cage at the bottom of my bed, I just open the doors so they can go in and out. I then have a barrier running from one wall to the other closing the bed area in, made of the pet play pen plastic panels/shoe storage you can get on Amazon! Basically a pop-up false wall blocking off half the room!

for the room, they're expensive but invest in a real playpen with tall and SOLID panels! mine learned how to push the other ones over or climb them. mine were also pretty good about knowing how to handle tall things and not jump off (and they LOVED to climb and be tall lol!!)

I love your videos !!! Recently I’ve had lots of loss of my mice ( got my first at late November as adults and after that it was just babies ) I’ve had my special mouse, the only one who enjoyed people die at around nine months possibly due to mycoplasma flare up ( while in a tiny cage as we where about to move and just introduced new babies ! ) And my new babies died over a month later due to my cat getting indoors, opening my door and knocking my small , temporary cage down to the floor and she managed to kill both ( really beautiful babies who I was getting to know , a himilayan/ pew and a Burmese) She also injured my last original mouse who was sick already, she somehow grabbed the cat and fell two feet while the cat was being put down in my shed ( away from my mice ) Somehow she is still alive but seems to be even sicker then ever, but she is still fighting and loving life so I won’t let her go just yet. We still have our 2 skittish sisters, whom take care of my original girl

Cat saliva is incredibly dangerous for mice and other rodents due to toxoplasmosis, please take your injuried/sick mouse to the vet for antibiotics if you haven't already :(

@@sleepylark I took them to the vet in less then an hour after they got their injury, the vet cleaned their wound and everything, she’s doing a bit better then just after her injury !

Hey emiology, I have been watching your videos for over a year now to gain information on getting pet rats! I just wanted to ask a question regarding keeping male and female rats together as online it’s not giving clear answers. I want to keep both male and female rats together (from a rescue) the males are neutered but the females aren’t spayed, would it be a problem if the females aren’t spayed? Or should I save up money to spay them and keep them separated until I do?

my boys have been doing very good lately!! I’ve had them almost two weeks and they will comfortably eat off the back of hands now and aren’t very skittish anhmore. however I have an issue and want to know if anyone here has an answer: one of my boys, apollo in particular, is very greedy with food. he will bite and pull on the spoon, smack the other rats away. he will lick thin layers of wet food off of your hand and then bite and try to pull you away. he has drawn blood but otherwise doesn’t seem aggressive. the other two have stopped nipping, but he hasn’t showed any signs of stopping. what can I do ?

Hi so I was wondering if maybe someone in the comments could answer this or you yourself, but I was looking back on a previous video on where it said that rats like to urinate on your things just to get used and mark the place, but will it just repeatedly happen if I decide to clean it? I don't have a rat yet but I'd like to know this ahead of time for I can't find the answer online

The more you clean the more they’ll scent mark! Specifically in the cage if you’re over cleaning it

Why do you feed them with live animals? That is cruel. I think it would be fair if your animal seek for the food by themselves not just hold them right in front of them. That it's not nice..

I’ll be honest I can’t remember what animal you’re referring to in this video. But it’s not cruel, it’s a natural part of their diet and enrichment
