People should do more of this. Reviewing products *after* they've been used for ages. Most people post product reviews after a couple of days.

Most of the reviewers who give a positive review, and who appear so enthusiastic about the product are professional reviewers that receive the item free or receive a payment, just to give a positive review. Best advice is to ignore those reviews.

Not sure if I like the idea of "dips" forming after only 10 months. Can you imagine after a couple of years! This one's not for me....thanks for posting your review 👍

I've just sent for an Emma mattress - as regards dips, I currently have a silent night memory foamed topped interior spring mattress which cost me £1100. Despite turning every few months it has serious dips after a year. This also happened to the mattress it replaced, a Sealy which cost £900. Basically, I'm done with paying for top end mattresses which do not live up to their past reputation; these Brands were good in the past, but it is evident that they have cut corners in production quality

My honest review after two years of constant use is that they are Utterly rubbish mattresses. I'd rather recommend marshmallows in a sack. It gets ridiculously soft after 5-6 months.

Finally after 4 years and 2 Emma mattresses later, they have collected the 2nd one and the manufacturer is in the process of refunding the original cost. The collecting company told me they collect more Emma Mattresses than any other make, so that tells a story. I now have a Brook and Wilde hybrid for the past few weeks and that appears to be very sound indeed. Far more substantial and with a degree of proper springs.

You need to know the real truth: If you do a bit of research, you will find that nearly all the new names - Emma, Eve, Matt, Simba, ... - in the mattress industry are fast growing tech companies that have no clue how to make quality mattresses, and are just in the business for making quick money. They use foam that no one has ever heard of, and offer only a 'one type fits all' model. How can this be the right mattress for everybody, no matter if you are light or overweight, small or big, have artritis or sweat a lot in bed? With these mattresses, you never find any certificates. They might use synthetic glue (that's why they smell when unpacked), which is not good for dealing with moisture. Are there any toxic products in the mattress? Is it a fire hazard? Since there are no certificates, it's hard to answer these questions. The cover is made of 100% polyester, also useless for dealing with moisture, and can be washed at 40 °C, which will not kill bed bugs (you need 60 °C for that). The way these mattresses are tested is often by repeatedly pressing something mechanically into the mattress and see what the consequences are after a few days. The body temperature and skin moisture of a sleeping person have a big influence on the effects of compression and wear, but these factors are not considered at all in the test. While these mattresses might score very good on durability in the mechanical compression test, it is totally unrealistic in real situations. The only positive thing they have is their price (that is why they often score 'Best Buy' prices). They are so cheap because the quality is so bad. There are already dents (which is destruction of the foam bubbles) in the mattress after 10 months. In five years time this mattress will be damaged severely. To get the mattress in the box for shipping, they are compressed very hard to reduce them in size, and wrapped airtight in plastic to keep them compressed. Most foam mattresses are designed to withstand a person of 120 kg. To get the Emma mattress in the small box, it is compressed by putting a pressure of 150 000 kg (yes, you read that right, one hundred and fifty thousand kg) on it. And it stays wrapped up for weeks. Ask any mattress expert out there what this does to a foam mattress, and they will all agree that this does irreversible and serious damage to the foam. So if you want a good mattress that will last for, and gives you comfort for a decade, be prepared to spend a bit more money on it, and don't buy one that comes in a box. It will do you good in the long run.

Those dips are really really bad. Comfort wise but also for your physical health. Seeing this makes me think about returning my 2 weeks old emma mattress because if i can expect dips like these then its a really bad mattress which will cause serious problems in the future

I’ve had this mattress for about 14 months. Saggy has become really bad and where I had a great sleep before it’s slowly got worse and worse.

Had it now 6 months and its great. The edge is great, doesn't feel like you'll fall. Got a bounce aswell

Just given up on our 2nd Emma mattress. The dips have given me a bad back. Emma say we've got to have a 3rd replacement for another 6 months before they'll consider a refund. Sorry - I'm not risking making my bad back worse. DO NOT BUY AN EMMA MATTRESS.

One important doubt I had was actually about the smell, since I have a dog's nose (in function, not form, hehe) and ended up getting rid of our latex foam pillows exactly for that reason. If its dipping your Emma has had it. Just had a battle (much more expensive memory foam one) with a mattress maker and retail store and they agreed finally to replace but its taken me 4 months to get to that point on a mattress with a ten year warranty and it coming up 5 y o. Manufacturers have been so slow about it and initially refused to replace but retailer intervened and we got agreement to replace. However we went out and bought a full one layer latex matress (has certification) of our choice. Talk about chalk and cheese. Pain gone. No coughing. Sinus issues resolving.

The raised bit is a known fault with the mattress and will not go, only get worse to the point it wakes you up if you lay on it. I had three mattresses that all had the fault and finally trying to get a refund which is taking a lot longer than their advertised 3-10 working days

You two made me decide on buying Emma, and to be honest it is the best mattress we’ve slept on. I have sciatica for the longest time, and there are days that are really hellish. My husband works as a nurse so he has chronic back pain, and leg pain due to the nature of his job. A month ago, I had the worst attack of sciatica that I can barely walk/ move and had to skip work for several weeks. Due to reviews, I initially ordered Eve from Amazon but was scammed (by delivery date and up to now no refund!). Out of desperation I have looked for a second choice, which was Emma! Your unboxing was so fun and I imagine me and my husband doing that in the future (inspiring). Anyway, thank you Mr. & Mrs. T for an awesome review/follow up. We can now sleep comfortably, I am better because I feel my body is well supported, no more snoring, no more sleeping pills, tossing and turning, and no more middle of the night waking up to uncomfortable mattress. Best decision ever! BTW: we availed their NHS discount which was helpful (as the money we have for the mattress is still with Amazon-Eve)!

Thanks for the quick response. I am on my 2nd hybrid. I weigh 12st 8 and my wife about 7. My side just sags and has become so soft. I feel I am rolling uphill to get to the other side of the bed. This 2nd mattress they replaced last July has only been in use for 3 months last year and 3 weeks this year as we are not always in the UK. It was great to begin with but now its lost much of its support very quickly. I am not sure these are built to last even if though they give a 10-year warranty. I see that the original is supposed to be firmer, so if they replace again I will be asking for the original. I am not sure that these foam mattresses are not much more than bit of a gimmick that makes high profits. They must take 5 minutes to produce a couple pieces of foam fitted into a zip cover. No quality compared to a more traditional type of mattress thats for sure. With no means of communication except email its not great customer support. At least with a shop you can talk face to face about an issue. Thanks again for your reply. Regards

Don't bother! I've only had the mattress since July 2019 and, after a only few months of use, the foam has softened considerably. This means that it's now too soft to support my back and it causes me significant pain. I don't believe these mattresses will last anywhere near 10 years! Worst mattress I've ever experienced.

correct they dip so the only part of the bed you can use is that dip (yet they use this to their advantage by saying it moulds your body into your sleeping position) yet basically what its doing is rendering the rest of the mattress as useless,..i had a nectar that i returned as it gave me a bad back and it made me sweat(never experienced this on any other mattress before) , totally put me off full memory foam all together, . but thats just my experience and memory foam suits others,

I bought 2 years ago one for my daughter. She likes the mattrass but when I bought it, I didn't realise that you can't turn it to sleep at the other side. But it is important to turn head to feet regulary. I wash the cover every 3 months on 60 or maybe also a little bit more if she got a bloodstain in the mattrass, I know the advice is 40 but 60 is important to kill dustmites and the cover isn't shrinking. I like my own mattrass much more, but matrasses are a personal thing. I think Emma is indeed very good for 2 people sleeping in one bed because it is indeed not bouncy but still not too firm.

I have had to send my Emma Original Mattress back. Little did I know until owning it, I am what can be classed as a 'hot sleeper'. I wake up several times in the night to kick off the covers because I get completely overheated sleeping on this mattress. It's a real shame, because the mattress is very comfortable otherwise.

Felt way to hard for me, it’s like sleeping on a plank of wood, don’t sink in at all. And mine had a strong smell even after a week I can still smell it. Emma has sent out a soft layer so hopefully that will make it better

I had a memory foam mattress a few years ago and when we tuck the cover off to wash it. You could see the moisture in the mattress, parts of it was turning green. It wasn’t an Emma mattress, but it’s put me off buying a memory foam mattress ever since

That dip is why I am looking to buy a new mattress so Emma’s is not for me

I'm 100kg and it makes my back ache now. It started off fine so I think the mattress sags over time and just under a year later, alas outside of the trial period, I'm looking to replace it. I think longevity will be a problem for these mattresses especially if you're heavy. Buy cheap buy twice as they say.

We bought ours from Lidl, we have had it 8 months, incredibly uncomfortable, I have resorted to sleeping on the floor as this is more comfortable until we can buy a traditional mattress, my wife still sleeps on it but the dip is now unbearable for her as she can no longer turn in bed now! The mattress is very hot in summer months and the smell has still not gone completely after 8 months. Beware of not buying direct as Emma do not offer any customer support if bought from Lidl! When we get a proper mattress we will cut this up to make outdoor bench cushions and a dog bed.

I tried this out earlier in John Lewis but I found it too firm. Not sure if it's one of those things where if I persevered I'd find it more comfortable. I much preferred the Hybrid, soft and cosy.

Mine is horrible got a massive dip where your backside goes so if you try to side sleep you roll back because of the dip. Total waste of money. Wished I never bought it!!

Interesting. I bought this memory foam mattress after reading all the fantastic reviews. However I sent it back because it was absolutely terrible. Like sleeping on a park bench. I persevered for about 30 days to see if it would improve. It didnt. It felt soft and squidgy with the hand but sleeping on it was sheer hell. I was crippled every morning despite Emma stating you will get the best night's sleep of your life!

Mine was deemed faulty after 8 months. Waiting for a different brand to come and John Lewis will collect and refund. Massively broke down in the middle and cripples us!

Do t know if it’s just me but bought a Emma king sized premium mattress and I feel as though Ive had some decent nights sleep after years ,it’s a bit weird to my other mattress as it’s unbelievably firm so will take some getting used to but so far so good ,impressed so far

Read on which that they recommend that you rotate the mattress every 30 days for the first year… too avoid dips etc… then once very 6 months…then once a year after that

The Simba got a really bad dip either side. They replaced it and same thing again. Got rid of it. We now have the Remfit 600 and it's been amazing. No dips and far more comfortable than Simba. Might be worth trying after the Emma.

Matress in a box, you know it makes sense, getting one tomorrow down the market

Its pretty shit to be honest, look inside the cover and its basically a slab of foam. Probably costs 10 pound to make. Also don't remove the cover you'll spend 4 hours getting it back on.

I spin mine around not flip... I found after a few months I start getting shoulder aches and pains.. Spinning the mattress stops this... Apart from that it's excellent

There is some mistake on dates. You have 10 months use on 08/2020 and the label is 11/2019. So, did you start to use before the mattress leave the factory? 🤔

A good video, but getting personal is the memory foam too hot at any time of the year and what weight is the heaviest of you as some videos use 16St7lb is the optimum weight when you move from medium to firm mattress?

When you lie down and want to move after a few hours , do you find it difficult to move and that you’re sinking in .... do you also feel like you’re sloping or sliding off the bed ... as I’m feeling that and I’m gonna return my Emma

I bought one and it is the most confortable mattress I have ever had, but you need to know that is not for lifetime, just for 10 years. My advice: Until 100kg buy the Emma original, for more than 100kg, buy the Emma One.

I’m assuming this is the MEDIUM mattress? There is also a medium-firm option which is a fair bit more expensive. We’re used to a firm mattress but have been told that as you get older it’s better to avoid them, so maybe worth trying the medium.
