Life is so hard with a newborn baby and other small children. I don't know what I would do without my husband and older children who understand that Mom is so busy with the baby but the baby will grow soon and won't be so fussy.

One thing I try to remember is that the baby picks up on your emotions. If you're stressed out, they may fuss even more... I have 3 young children, 6yrs, 4yrs and 2yrs. It is REALLY hard when the toddler wants or needs something, or just wants attention. But these days fly by and one day, they'll be running around the yard playing.

Wow this is golden, we still do that even as an adults. For example it could be 2 coworkers or family couple, arguing and anyone that witnesses, is emotionally become disturbed regardless of age. Or sometimes you might come into restaurant and waiter is happy even if you have a lot on your mind it lifts you up as well. Thank you so much, that is exactly right thing to keep in mind! Not to mention you are super mom, to have your babies all 2 yrs apart, wow!👏

really important thing...you shouldve added that colic may be caused fully or partially by their digestive system being underdeveloped and needing to finish developing, meanwhile giving the baby pain because of their digestion. this is a really important factor, as not every baby cries just because 'scary new world'. where I live (the Netherlands) colic is just a synonym for digestive system issues in babies. and in order to calm those down these tips in the video will not help in the long run (they will help deal with the aftermath, but not prevent issues happening). digestive issues in newborns are unavoidable but there are some things you can and should do. you need to go back to what food they are getting if youre using formula, what bottle youre using, how much air they are sucking in while you feed them if they are a bottle feeder, do you burp them if they are a 'burp baby' etc...thats why they sell 'anti colic bottles'' as well for slower eating. there are medicines that you can feed to your little one before feeding time, and they help them with digesting, and that are perfectly safe and common to use. so before a feed i give my baby infacol. then feed her but not too fast if it is via bottle. take breaks when baby asks.so after about 10-15 mins feeding time via bottle, its time to burp. but, my baby is not a burp baby , but a farty baby, but we give her opportunity to burp anyway, and keep her upwards for about 10 minutes after a feed to make sure food goes down. we give her gentle leg massage (keep in mind do NOT do 'bycicle' massage on babies as it can do harm to their developing hips) , and prepare a 'warm pillow' that is size of her tummy , we warm it up in a microwave and we place it on her tummy either while shes awake and looking about, but usually i put it down on a safe surface like her crib, put it down where shed lay then lay her on her tummy with tummy touching the warm pillow. she usually falls asleep really nicely too, and thing stays warm long enough to soothe her. also, a warm nice short bath also helps.

We had a hard time around week 2 and 3. We tried everything, until we finally by week 4 understood our little one was getting overstimulated and overtired. Now we keep an eye out for any tiredness cues, and we pick him up asap and go into a darker, quiet room to cuddle (typically me giving boobie) and when he is just about to fall asleep we put him down and leave the room. If he starts crying we help soothe him through shushing and giving pacifier to suck, and some gentle touches, once he is calm again we leave the room. If he continues to fuss, we try changing diaper and giving a small meal. He seems a lot more hungry during the evening, wanting frequent smaller meals. We have used white noise a few times, and it has worked wonders.

My son is now almost 3 months and it seems that we already got through the colic period. I can say that all of the tips in video are great and worked for my baby, plus we did lot of chest to chest time and belly massage. When it was very bad we bath our baby and that was great for him, he was distracted and warming and soothing effect of water helped as well.

Here are some things I've learned with my 2 month old boy: There's a technique which helps me, learned it from dr Hamilton, name is "the hold", you can look it up at KZfaq. Also, another thing that helps: lying down on your back, your head on a pillow, child on your chest in a position belly-to-belly or child could be curled: knees touching their belly. In this position you can carefully rock them up and down. Just swiftly. In addition, you can also gently pat them on their back or butt or stroke them. Sometimes bathing him in warm water helped. Hope my experience helps someone else. Lots of love to everyone

@@EmmaHubbard I have a question ma'am,my baby wants to vomit and is unable to and this series starts from late evening till morning 7:30 am so..and it's been 4 days that entire night he tries to vomit and this makes him fussy and irritating and entire night he doesn't sleep but mornings he is absolutely fine. He doesn't need any inclination but the night hours minimum elevation too doesn't work. But it's hard to put him down on his back ,he needs to be elevated the entire night by holding him in my arms . Is there any solution for this. He is suffering badly at night hours. Thank you ma'am

This coupled with my inability to produce enough milk to breastfeed my baby was really stressing me out. (She was born prematurely so it’s been hard from the beginning to produce milk.) I think what really helps is the mental point that these witch hours are part of the new "job" and everything in the evening before 11pm is not over hour but normal "work time". Try to do the best out of it. I turned on some fancy music and started to dance with my little boy on my arms. Both of us liked it 😊 Next thing - use feeding times during these hours for your own rest. Close your eyes, take deep breaths. You will need all the energy you can get for the next crying period. And don't focus on that this feed should make him or her sleep. It might not and that's totally fine. Also, when your little girl or boy stopped crying be aware of the fact that due to moving arms and legs during the cry he or she is heated up and should literally cool down. It might help to put off one layer of clothes for a few minutes.

Going through this now at 4 weeks and we feel hopeless. We thought something was wrong and only wondered if it's colic but didn't realize it most likely is. With Colic/witching hour, is it more likely that the baby won't sleep? We're having a hard time putting him to sleep, lots of crying (we've followed the tips that are in your 7 tips video) - and really the only thing that works each time is if we put him in the stroller and push it around the house.

Awww mine is 5 weeks. My baby is weird, cries when i swaddle him and spits out the pacifier i got him. He liked paci at first and happily used it for a few days but now he doesnt want it. I find he is usually most fussy around 6 to 7pm when he gets tired and ready to sleep, i put him in his cot, normally if i leave him at this point he wont sleep and will cry after a few minutes or immediately after me putting him down. But ive discovered rubbing his tummy and singing or reading to him softly will soothe him enough for him to drift off to sleep. Every baby has their own quirks i think.

Have people had the experience of your baby making an irritable moaning sound after feeding. Is my baby bored? I run through my checklist: hungry, sleepy, nappy, gassy and sometimes the baby is crying or appears upset for no obvious reason.

My baby is 4 months old and this is the worst he has been. He has been pretty fussy up until now but now it's the worst it has ever been. 2 hours straight of crying and me trying a million different things and nothing seeming to work.. 😖😩

Cluster feeding is very common during the witching hour. It is tiring but calming for the bubs!

I have a 3 week old boy (almost 4 weeks) he’s started to get really fussy during the witching hour. When he has his first evening feed he has around 4oz of formula, after this he is bobbing his head like he’s routing for more so we try to give him more but he just rejects it and screams! Is this normal?

@@missymoo1568 Hello dear.. Reading your reply put a huge smile on my face because now that my baby girl is 16 months old and is sleeping, playing, eating healthy solid foods, communicating with us and understanding us better.. I can say with 100% confidence that the difficulties you're going through right now with your little grand child will soon be over.. You are going to fall more in love with baby as they grow older. The first 6 months are quite tiring especially if your daughter is only giving baby breast milk (which is the best option). Once they start solids they can sleep better at night because they won't be so hungry. I don't even remember I once made this comment.. She was too little and had colic and later on teething problems but its much better now. There will be hard days and sometimes there still are as my toddler has now learned to run around and mess with the things in house 😂 Please remember to take care of yourself as well and have atleast one day of complete rest in a week. I hope your daughter and her husband can manage a babysitter and go spend some much needed time together as well.

It sounds like your little one is going through the Period of Purple Crying. Although it is frustrating it is completely normal and it will pass eventually. The tips in this video should help. Also you might find this video helpful too: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMuAf7p-st2XqmQ.html

Should I be concerned if my baby never goes through this?

Not at all. For some babies they are just a little bit more fussy during this stage then usually but it is very minor.

You can’t. You can just offer it. You can try different types. Mine mainly only takes it if she is hungry. Bides time while I warm a bottle.

My baby is 2months old and always pushes the pacifier out with his tongue

My newborn also pushed the pacifier out- she just didn’t want it. Some bubs just don’t like the pacifier but will happily suck on their hands (if you position it close to their mouth) or an adults clean finger. Hopefully that helps!
