Because this is a memory quilt, consider adding some dates or years. You could embroider your son's bday on one. This year on the lilly of the valley block. The year you purchase your home on the house block. Etc. 💖🌞🌵😷

I LOVE this quilt so much. I recently discovered your channel and I love your style and your approach to slow stitching. I was always the one who said “I will NEVER hand quilt a quilt”, but after discovering your channel and starting to EPP (because of your channel) and now seeing this video, I want to start a quilt like this. Thank you for sharing your life and your approach to slow stitching. You have caused me to reevaluate how I approach my stitching (both hand and machine). To slow down and not be so focused on the end product but to also focus on the journey. Thank you.

This was lovely, Emma - so gentle. It's beautiful to see your QAYG quilt slowly evolving. I like that you are content to let it happen gradually. That encourages me to go ahead and make a start on mine even though I have house projects on the go. As you say, it's nice to have something sweet and comforting to pick up once in a while that has no time-pressure on it. I did get the wadding you recommended, and I have some scraps of fabric and some vintage embroideries to use. So I might even make my first hexie tonight 🥰 I appreciated hearing your thought process about the placement of colours, tones and patterns - I'll bear all that in mind moving forward. Thank you, Emma. Take care🌸💞

I did start mine a couple months ago and I am having so much fun collecting fabrics from friends and family, using fabric scraps I love of my past projects, and trying new techniques on some of my hexagons. Even if I never end up stitching them all together, I’ve had a wonderful time making the individual hexies. I’ve got about 10-15 right now. I’m not sure how I want to arrange them so I haven’t started sewing them together yet. Thank you for the inspiration!

Thanks for sharing your progress and how the quilt looks as you connect the hexagons. Your work is feminine and beautiful. My only project is quilt-as-you-go with templates I bought many years ago that’s a two piece XL Hickory Nut template. I’m appliquéing brightly colored geometric patterned hexagon halos (flowers without centers) onto striped background fabric, it’s a Japanese textile look. Like you, no idea when it will be completed, it has become an enjoyable, meditative activity. Your early examples and video reviews sharing the work of other quilters inspired me to try this method and it’s wonderful. ❤

You're right it's not big enough for a quilt, but your could use it as a table topper, or add a few hexis and lay it on the foot of your bed, or the back of the sofa, or display on a quilt rack. Now I'm not saying stop working on it. I'm saying display it/use it in between the adding of rows. Right now it could be a table topper or hang on the back of your easy chair, as it gets bigger then move it to your bed or sofa. 💖🌞🌵😷

I've actually been getting my fabric from op shops! I ask the employees which sheets have been on the shelves the longest (those are more likely to get binned!) and buy them. Less stuff goes in the landfill, lots of yardage, and cheap compared to the proper fabric stores. Plus it's been pre-washed already so I don't need to worry about washing my quilt in the washer when it inevitably gets soiled by the dogs 😂

Ive only recently found your channel, I find your vidoes very calming and a joy to watch so I just wanted to say thank you for this. Ive sewn for many years but only recently got into patchwork and I am trying to build up my supplies and fabrics. I have lots of embridered items from my mother who is no longer with us and also one table cloth my father embroidered many many years ago. I have them kept in a bag in a cupboard and have always thought its a shame not to have them out on display. Your hexagons have inspired me to toy with the idea of incorporating them into a similar project, I think they would look lovely with a mixture of liberty prints, not sure if Im brave enough to start cutting them to do this but hopefully I will be! Also , thank you for sharing the links to your fabrics, I love the Acufactum fabrics they are so different and beautiful.

Emma, I've made three (all lap sized)! And I'm working on a fourth. Of the three I've finished, I'm keeping one for myself and giving one to each of my daughters. The fourth is being made with donated fabric from my local quilt shop and it will be donated to a nursing home. I am finishing the "floppy" edge with half hexies, so there will be two straight sides and two zigzag sides. Thank you so much for your original tutorial on how to do this! I find it so relaxing and just love that it is a quilt-as-you-go project that doesn't require machine quilting. I have been quilting each block as I finish it from point-to-point across, so it looks like a "triple X" inside each one. I'm already looking forward to what I might make next when I finish the one for the nursing home. The possibilities!! 😉😊🥰🧵🪡Yours is so sweet and lovely, soft and gentle - like you.

I am so enjoying doing this project, each hexagon is different & a joy to do, like you Emma, I don't want it to end. Just to let you know Emma after your recommendation, I contacted Sew & Quilt, and they now make a 4 inch😢 hexagon acrylic template, with the option to choose one without the seam allowance, making it the perfect size for cutting out the backing fabrics for this project. Happy stitching.

It's gorgeous, your choice of colours and fabrics are so pretty, I'm such a scared-y mixing a lot of fabric but I really, really want to, I'd be better pulling the fabrics out of a bag like a raffle. I think the large hexagon could be cut from a thick acetate, maybe. Thank you for the update.

I made one as a wall hanging for over my bed. I filled in the top edge with half hexagons and I didn’t care for it so I removed them. It was very fiddly trying to get a perfect straight line across the top.

I did think when I saw myself back on the video holding it up that it might be more of a challenge than I thought to put the half hexies in as the gaps looked like they could stretch. I do like the look of the zig zag edge and I am sure yours is beautiful Thank you for watching
