I really don't understand how we're trying to somehow compare Paddy and Chas here. Because the main problem in the way the story is being told is that Chas is not showing any remorse for what she has done to him. She has excuses, she's angry at everybody around her like she deserves to be mad at everybody, and she is upset that he won't just let it go and stay with her. But not once in any of this have I seen her feel bad for having lied to Paddy, having cheated on Paddy, planning to take her daughter away from his father, having literally thrown her own son, after he'd been traumatized by his sister's death, out of the village so she could continue screwing Al, inadvertently being the reason that both Liv and Al are dead, and having missed her mother's death, which she has made all about her of course, because again she was busy screwing Al. She is showing absolutely no remorse for any of this and is upset that everyone thinks that she should be sorry about it. This is the problem.
