Deeply full of emotion - wow. And to think "Be My Love" resurfaced years later during Emmet's Stockholm performance of "Where Is Love?". Glad to hear this passionate melody, then and now!

It is the beginning of the harmonic grid of "be my love" which influenced the French composer Paul de Senneville to create the famous song "Tous les bateaux, tous les oiseaux" of the singer Michel Polnareff in 1969. (P.De Senneville is also the composer of the horrible worldwide success "ballad for Adeline" for the pianist Richard Claydermann with 22 million albums and 400 million views on KZfaq....)

I would have rejected this tune because I associate it with its original form. Long ago, it was sung by a very emotional operatic tenor in a style that was terribly melodramatic. It was over the top and not appealing. -- Recognizing that the tune has "good bones", Emmet Cohen has re-imagined it and made it his own. He has made a new work, very romantic and fresh. I would recommend he embark on a project of film scores. Listening to this, you get the impression you're watching a full-length film. The ending is beautifully reflective, just lovely. Wonderful work, Mr. Cohen!

I thought exactly the same. There was a beautiful and tender composition just waiting for someone to play it beautifully and tenderly. How strange it took so long and for the original composition to have been performed in a genre that did suit the gorgeous melody and phrasing.
