As a Finn, I want to thank you for your fantastic impressions of whatever it is that you're tasting - you've nailed the texture, sweetness and taste of the candies, better than I could describe as a native. It makes me trust your reviews on candies and foods from around the world and thus I would like to thank you for bringing the tastes around the globe closer to us viewers! :)

I'm polish and I love liquorice, it's very refreshing. But salmiakki - that I cannot stand, i tried but lost this fight.. Sadly in my country it's realy hard to get any liquorice sweets :s I buy them sometimes in Marks&Spencer but there is only one type of candy. Most people there don't like liquorice so shops don't have them in offer :c

I love these videos of yours where you taste stuff from all over the World. Many people make similar videos, but the difference between you and them is that they're sometimes visibly gagging and going "oh that's so gross, how can anyone eat, hahaha people in ____ are so weird"... But not you. You are very respectful to others, even if you don't necessarily like the stuff you're eating. I like that a lot!

Amd even if she knows she doesn't like something (like salmiakki) she still tries it every time in an attemp to like it, but still doesn't make any fuss if she doesn't. It's super neat.

+emmymadeinjapan Hi Emmy! I loved this! I tend to think only of those fishy things they like and the licorice. There is a candy I used to eat as a kid and it still sells in bulk in the States. Its a taffy but it takes like licorice sort of. But better. Its black and white and pink. And I have totally spaced the name. Damn! I think you would really like that one. TY for your vids!

The fox candy you ate is a rowanberry-marmalade candy (Pihlaja = rowan). The Fazer company has made them since 1895, the design has stayed pretty much the same for all these years. I always get super excited when you post a new Emmy eats world -video. It's so interesting to see what kind of food people eat in other countries.

@Norpal
@Norpal 3 жыл бұрын
So, some trivia on the cute Pihlaja candy because it's a bit of a cultural icon: - It is Fazer's oldest product, originally conceived in 1895. It's a very nostalgic candy, with a big "those things Grandma used to give when we visited" kinda vibe. I'm not sure if the fox head design is from the very beginning, but it is very old. The waxy paper wrapper in particular has been the same for as long as I remember. Nobody really uses the actual name, they're just "kettukarkki", meaning "fox candy" for most people. - As for the official name, "Pihlaja" is the Finnish word for rowan. This refers to the fact that the original recipe actually used rowan berries. The recipe has since changed, I assume to use more artificial flavours. The name ties in with the fox head logo, because in the Finnish adaptation of Aesop's "Fox and the Grapes" fable, the fox was trying to reach a cluster of rowan berries. (This is an odd change since, unlike the perceived "sour grapes" in the original fable, rowan berries *are* in fact very sour, which kinda defeats the moral of the story. But I digress.) Anyways, I know this video is 4 years old, but I wanted to leave a comment for the benefit of anyone who might stumble here late like I just did.
@samuelkostov
@samuelkostov 8 жыл бұрын
The pihlaja fox candies you ate are made of a berry called: pihlajanmarja or rowan berry. From the name I think you can guess that grows on rowan trees. The berries are eaten mostly by birds and it seems that they can cause stomach issues in humans if eaten raw, but birds do not get the same symptoms.

I absolutely adore black liquorice and salmiakki. Tyrkisk Peber is one of my favourite candies by far, though I can understand why people would dislike it.
