In this video we open up and get real about foster care and adoption.
Why did you adopt?
Do you struggle with infertility?
Will you ever get pregnant aka have a biological child?
Why did you choose interracial adoption?
Why did Tyanna enter foster care?
Do you have an open or closed adoption?
Do you want more children?
Did your family support the adoption?
How do you keep Tyanna connected to her culture?
How old was Tyanna when you adopted her?
Are you going to adopt again?
What do you wish you knew before adopting?
Is fostering/adopting expensive?
Have you met Tyanna's biological family?

I am fostering a white child and I am black. I don’t care about a child’s color. My DSS gave us a child in need of a loving parent. We love our foster child and hope to adopt him.

I am an African-American woman, and let me tell you this...You two give me butterflies when you speak of your baby girl. There aren't too many families that consider how transracial adoption affects the child and their future as they grow into adulthood. Transracial adoption could be very traumatic for African-American children. However, it can also be beautiful. I love how you love Tyanna and how protective you are of her. Haircare, her education and being surrounded by peers that look like her, teaching her about African-American culture, removing yourselves from unsupportive family members, and residing in a diverse area; you two have made these changes because your love for Tyanna far exceeds your personal needs. Y'all are amazing! I wish you and Tyanna love, peace, and many blessings! 🥰

I’m a 54 year old black woman. The #1 reason why I watch your channel is seeing the love you guys have for Tyanna(plus she is sooo cute and sweet). I see you love her so much that you go beyond your comfort zone to incorporate her culture as much as possible. Also, there are no perfect parents except for our father in Heaven. Those that are critical really don’t understand that it’s better to be raised in a loving biracial family than to be raised in the system.

@@katpage9378 just for clarification, what we mean when we say kids don’t see color is that they don’t define color with specific attributes or stereotypes that society makes of those with color. I say this because my family is mixed and my daughter who is 6 is mixed. She is very light skinned (can pass for white) but her hair is a give away when it’s out because she has mixed kids hair. My daughter literally goes up to anyone because she doesn’t define any color to be “bad” if u will. As you said, yes you did see black kids different than yourself but you were fascinated by it not labeling them without even knowing them. I hope this helps to understand our perspective when we say kids don’t see color and love has no color.

I just found this channel. My youngest brother was adopted at 6 months old but he came to us at birth. I was 18 when he was born and I automatically fell in love with him and couldn't imagine life without him. The whole process of adoption is very emotional. We stayed with the birth mother at the hospital and when it was time to go home my heart broke for her and I also think of her often.

I honestly appreciate you both so much for giving us the privilege to be apart of your lives. I do believe in my heart, listening to you both that whenever or if the time comes for baby girl to meet or bi-relatives that you both will make the best decision possible for her because of how evident it is on how much you guys love that little girl, your daughter. You are wonderful parents and human beings. However, I kinda do agree with Jon on this because we don’t want baby girl to be heartbroken if they turn out to be unreliable. It is important to protect our children from that kind of hurt and disappointment. And if they turn out to be such, she can choose to be apart of their lives when she is old enough but for now, it’s y’all’s job to protect that sweet little girl. Great video. Have a happy and true 2022 ! True happiness, True success, true joy & peace, true friendships etc . Not because the year is new, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. (Words from Pastor Franklin). Sending so much love from Guyana 🇬🇾

I don't get Black people commenting 'thank you for adopting a Black child' can't see that it's just reinforcing the idea that we are somehow inferior. This comment section is super weird and we as a community really need to interrogate our own internalised anti-blackness...anyway, open adoption seems like a mature and most loving way to go about adoption and I hope she continues to feel loved and supported.

That is a great loving father. The way he interacts with baby girl if their complexion wasn’t so different no one would ever think he wasn’t her biological dad and mom was not her biological mom. So much love in that beautiful family. I was a foster child until the age of 10 and appreciate the way I was taken care of, also enjoyed being with my real mom from the age of 10. Two very different ways of living but I’m grateful for the lifestyle of both. So good to see such genuine love in a world where there is so much unnecessary hate.

10:00 yep, real " deep" and I love it. You're both genuine people. And I thank you guy's for being so vulnerable with us. You know, this might come across weird. But when I look at Teyanna, the only difference I see is the taker hue in her skin. Because her personality is in perfect alignment with you both. In fact , she even resembles John at certain times. God makes no mistakes, and He handpicked her for you both. She is your child.

Jon and Rhianna it hurts me to know how insensitive people can be when they themselves don't want to adopt but have lots to say....I salute Jon and Rhianna for being the best parents to Tyanna, in my eye you're Tyanna's true parents and Tyanna doesn't need to know who's her biological parents in this life, what truly matters is Tyanna is reunited with you in this life , as she was your biological child from the past life. Delete people who're not happy for you'll and posing their own insecurities....Tyanna's smile is both Jon and Rhianna's joy.

It is very obvious that you all love each other and that is why I enjoy watching your content so much. People who have something negative to say about your family are ignorant and really should just keep their comments to themselves. They would not open their homes to a child in need and would just say "someone else will do it or the state will take over", without considering the children and their needs.
