Dan said in an interview that he took Jordan Peterson's philosophy about "what kind of person do you want to be" and said that: "At your parent's funeral...be the strongest person in the room"...Dan said that this was what he strived for & helped him cope with his own grief, AND help his family members. 🥰❤️

Wow. Man don't wait until your parents die to sing for them. I sung for my parents and played for them and even their request upon diagnosis of months to live I sung Dany boy. They liked it so much they both cried. And my mum never cries. I'm glad I took the opportunity as I won't get it again.

Same here...both my mom and my dad...plus the music that had TRIED to leave me during the extended years I spent going down, under rheumatoid arthritis. Even though I am only battling leftovers of that, I was still fighting (often in tears) to get my singing voice back. Thanks to Dan taking the world by storm with "Amazing Grace," that battle gets easier and easier every day. God is good, and He uses music (and Dan's voice, a LOT) to help us get through every day of our lives. 😀

My stepfather died when my youngest brother was only 2 1/2, I often wish that they had known each other. Our mother now has advanced Vescular Dementia, which has to be one of the worst diseases for the family. It's as if we loose her every time we see her. This one is so hard to watch because of the emotional background to it as Dan's tribute to his Dad after passing away from cancer just before. Watching Dan muscle through this and still making it so beautiful through the tears and struggle, his eyes lifted up to Heaven, etc, just grips my heart every time. I rarely make it through w/o a few tears & I don't know how he did it. Even though it's been nearly 8 yrs now, it does make you want to hug him. I wish Dan's Dad could have lived to see his son's success, but he's got to be smiling from heaven and thinking, "I'm proud of you, my son."

Viking what a beautiful reaction you gave. I’m sure by now you are very aware of the backstory of this video. The only things I would add to possibly all the comments is this, Dans dad died on October 4th/5th,2017. Dans birthday is October 13, 1989 and he turned 28 just 9 days later. So his heart is raw and broken when he recorded this tribute to his daddy. It is both heartbreaking and beautiful that he was able to get through this song, absolute strength of willpower. You feel the depth of his emotion deep in his soul. It shows what an incredible man he is. He has said how sad he is that his father wasn’t able to see him grow and become successful, but we fans know that Papa Vasconcelos is watching over both of his sons and is ‘button popping’ proud of all their accomplishments and dedication to their musical skills!!! 🧔🏻‍♀️🫡🤘🏼💪🏼🫶🏻 My heart breaks every time I listen to this song and I feel the pain of loss for him and his family! We go on in life but we always remember ’that day’. 😢❤️‍🩹🙏🏼🇧🇷🫶🏻🧔🏻‍♀️💙 Hail Papai, Pai, Roberto Vasconcelos your sons are EpiC!! Ciao!

I had already been emoting, myself, right from the beginning, as always, when I hear it. Also, chills. Then, at 4:26, you encouraged Dan, "...you'll get through with it..." and I gasped. Even when I heard this for the very first time (not long after I first heard "Amazing Grace") I did the same thing...multiple times. I still do...every time. I encourage him all the way through, with things like, "It's OK, Dan. You can do it! You know he's watching and listening. I see you looking up at him while he's looking down at you." Then, at the end, "You did it, Dan! WOW!" I can't help it! Every single emotion he puts into that song, just POURS back out to those of us watching...no matter how many times we watch. THEN...you started talking about music, and how it affects life (and the reverse). I was JUST making a similar comment less than 24 hours ago, on another reaction channel, regarding the fact that every single person is made with music inside. The ongoing conversation had been that God only gives CERTAIN people the ABILITY to sing. Not so! God created ALL mankind to sing. Every single person, regardless of who, where, when, or why (being created in God's image) were given MUSIC WITHIN. It doesn't matter HOW we sing, or if it SOUNDS musical to others. The ability is there, and God hears every single bit of it. Without going into further details, here are a few quick (paraphrased) lines about how, for instance, God gets human beings through life...even battles...from Psalm 68... www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+68&version=NKJV Verse 4... Sing to God, sing praises to His name; extol (honor, announce, praise) Him who rides on the clouds, by His name Yah {Yahweh}, and rejoice before Him. Verses 25-26... The singers went before {at the front of the procession}, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the maidens playing timbrels. Bless God in the congregations {the gatherings}...the Lord, from "the fountain of Israel". {Also called "the Fountain that will never run dry".} Verse 32... Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; oh, sing praises to the Lord {think about and dwell on that}, and to Him who rides on (fills) the heaven of heavens, which were of old {because He MADE them}! - - - - - - - - - - Daniel (the creator of that psalm -- which means the words were originally sung) knew exactly how to have a conversation with God, and how to tell about it, from the time he was very little. - - - - - - - - - - So has THIS Daniel. He says that he started singing in whatever words he had, from inside, when he was younger than two. There's much more to that story. Honestly, nobody may have noted that type of thing for some people, but it definitely happens. It's part of my own story. I had parents who understood and fostered the singing. Dan had parents who understood and fostered the singing. Others do not...there's the difference. - - - - - - - - - - It's entirely understandable that Dan did this tribute to his dad, IN SONG. Both his dad and the song, will continue to live within him...forever. In the meantime, when we see and hear it, we get to join in that tribute, and appreciate Dan's music even more than we may have to begin with.

Then there's the country music faves, Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Adam Brand, Slim Dusty, Keith Urban, Casey Barnes, Casey Chambers, The Wolf Brothers, Troy Cassar-Daley... and that's just a few off the top of my head 😁 we have a very robust music scene down here 😊 🙃🐨🇦🇺

I so admire Dan for doing this tribute to his father. It shows what a man of worth is really like. Dan mentioned one time that he so regretted that his Dad did not get to see him become a success before he passed. He had only just started to see a little when this happened. We all know that his Father believed in him and has to be so proud, looking down from heaven. Your reaction was touching. I do dread the first Saturday that rolls around and there is no Dan video, but I completely understand that you need to do what is best for your business. You have brought us so many wonderful reactions and I know you will continue to do so when you can. Thanks.

So beautiful and heart wrenching. I cry whenever I watch or hear Dan sing this song, not only for him, but for me because my Dad passed away a few years ago and then my Mom died a year later. You never recover from this type of loss, but you learn to deal with the sadness and sharing memories of them with others keeps them "alive". Peace

I tear up every time I watch this video. I lost my father when I was in my early twenties and it's something you never get over but you do learn to deal with it. Much respect to Dan for doing this and to you for your words of wisdom and kindness.

There are many singers with perfect vocal ability, but lack the emotional ability. Dan sings so beautifully and with such emotion which impacts others. It touches my heart, and yes I just wanted to take him in my arms and hold him and ease his pain. Beautiful man, love his voice sprit and his amazing mind. I sincerely believe Dans father is watching and is so proud of his sons! 💔❤️

A very emotional Saturday Dan Day. At some point in your life you will lose people you love. The pain is great because life is fleeting. You should not forget during this time. Love, respect and memories remain forever. I don't know how Dan managed to sing this song. He is doing what he does best: processing his pain through music. Thank you Viking for this emotional reaction. I can understand your comment. There are other artists besides Dan who are worth responding to. I will miss Saturday Dan Day.

Every time I see this cover I get very emotional 🥹. Dan brings a lot of emotions in his voice!!! It was a beautiful and moving tribute that Dan made✨️ I don't know how he managed to do that?!?!? He had the strength, courage and determination to do this!!! I wouldn't even be able to speak. I really like all your reactions to Dan Vasc. I really admire the affection and admiration you have for him. Thanks Viking ;)

I often wonder every time I hear him sing this is how many takes it took for him to get through the song, recording the vocals and the video. I have lost both parents and know the pain.

I don't know anyone who doesn't love this, dedicated to his father. And so many feel a relation to their own lives. My dad died from cancer and I didn't have the chance to say goodbye. My nephews father died in an accident shortly before his 5th birthday (I had the boy with me then). All men in our family are already on the other side - some of them gone in their 30ies. And I'm only one among a lot of people with similar stories, so yes, this rendition can really have a cathartic effect. Thank you for your authentic reaction. ❤🎶

Great video Viking. Yes you are right music plays a large part in our memories. In 1987 our daughter had meningitis. Just before she became very ill with it a new song entered the UK charts. Nothings gonna Stop us now by Starship. I liked this song and would sweep her into my arms and yes sing terribly while dancing around the room. I got a call while at work saying she had been rushed into hospital. For two weeks we went thru hell. She did beat it. Every day I heard this song, while we helplessly watched our daughter fight. When we came home with her, I put the radio on and yes there it was just starting to play. I took her in my arms and danced around that room with joy. Songs bring good memories and sad times to the fore, Dan does this song amazingly. P.S. And yes I have tears in my eyes writing this, mixed tears of sorrow and happiness. oh and every time I hear Nothing gonna stop us now. I belt it out. Keep up the good work. And doing Dan once a week is fine by us.

I know that song well! Good song by a band that has been around for a while. I saw their performance at Woodstock when they were still Jefferson Airplane and loved them instantly! Good to have these memories and relate them to important events. I can no longer hear the Rose by Bette Midler without tearing up as it was used at the funeral of both my grandmothers…
