I became paralyzed on June 7, 2017 at 2:36 PM from shooting heroin… I was pretty much driving when I got paralyzed. Four days prior to me getting paralyzed, I fell asleep on the loveseat at my mom and dad’s and I was woken up at about 2 a.m. in the morning, and in the most excruciating pain that I have ever been in, in my entire life… The pain was in the lower right corner of my left shoulder blade, and it felt like someone was literally driving a railroad spike into my left shoulder blade! My sister called 911 because I was on the floor writhing in excruciating pain… On the scale of one to 10 it was easily a 15! The ambulance came to the house, and the EMTs came in, and the lead/head EMT checked me out and told me to take a Tylenol and just deal with the pain… to which my reaction was “are you kidding me? “ if I could just deal with the pain, we wouldn’t have called you guys in the first place!” So I just dealt with the pain the next few days… The night before I got paralyzed I was in Safeway, pushing a cart with my girlfriend at the time, and I had shooting pain that radiated from my left shoulder all the way down my left leg, and the pain brought me to my knees! Now the next day, I decided I needed to go to the hospital so at about 1:45 PM me and my girlfriend, headed to the hospital and we were less than 1/10 of a mile from the hospital… My right foot starts to tingle and go numb like it was falling asleep… It went away and came back 10 seconds later a million times more intense to the point it almost hurt. That feeling went into my right ankle and by the time it got halfway up to my right knee, I knew something was wrong, so I pulled over to the side of the road, put it in park… I had just enough time to lean over and unbuckle my seatbelt… And within 60 seconds of me pulling over and putting it in park, I was fully paralyzed from the neck down… And due to gravity and physics, my body fell in between the two front seats… now to give you an idea of what it’s like to be paralyzed… Imagine that you are on your hands and knees with your entire body deep in cement all the way up to your neck… That’s what it’s like to be paralyzed! Thank God, my fiancé at the time (who I am no longer with) was with me… She put me in the backseat and drove the rest of the 1/10 of a mile to the hospital that I was already driving to because of my shoulder pain.. She went in and grabbed a wheelchair and put me in it and wheeled me in the hospital. My blood pressure got all the way down to 41/36, which is dangerously low… It took quite a few hours to get my blood pressure stabilized. They put me in an operating room on a metal table and strapped my feet in and put what’s called a pick line in my chest on the right side which is a thin IV line that they put in that went directly to my heart that they used to put in medication to help raise my blood pressure. After this, they secured the straps on my feet, and inverted me to a 45° angle with my feet above my head to help raise my blood pressure as well. It took from what I remember, about 4 1/2 hours to get my blood pressure stabilized. and about one and a half hours after it was stabilized, I got life flighted by helicopter Harborview hospital in Seattle and it was about an hour and a half flight. I was there in Harborview for total of 2 1/2 months… I was in the ICU for 3 1/2 weeks on a ventilator… 2 1/2 weeks after that, God restored the use of my arms! Just one week later, I overdosed twice within the same week because I had more stuff brought in to me while I was still in the hospital and little did I know… It was laced with fentanyl which caused me to OD. These would be the first 2 times out of a total of 5, that God literally brought me back to life from the dead, and he breathed his life-giving air and his like giving oxygen back into my lungs and restarted my heart! And even though both of my hands are still paralyzed, God granted and continues to grant me with the ability to use the first two knuckles on my left hand to operate/control my entire iPad as well as voice to text! Then, in 2018, I attempted suicide 5 times between January and July… one of which left me dead, and another time which very well should have killed me but didn’t… God didn’t let me die that time, God kept me alive!! This is the time where God didn’t let me die.. ⤵️ ⬇️ I stabbed myself in the stomach with a 10 inch kitchen knife! I lacerated my liver, my pancreas, one of my kidneys, and I completely severed one of the three main arteries in my lower abdomen as well as losing 2 1/2 quarts of blood by the time I got to the ER! I ended up getting 40 staples in my abdomen as well as sufficient bandaging, and I now have a scar that goes from my lower pelvis ALL the way up to my sternum as a reminder of how much God and his precious Son Jesus Christ truly love me… because without them, I wouldn’t have survived. I was in the hospital for nine days… Not weeks… Not months… DAYS!! Nine days, and God completely healed my body up enough to go home! And then in October 2018… My body went septic and my heart stopped for over two hours! This was due to a life-threatening infection called Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. God literally breathed new life back into my lungs and restarted my heart after two hours… And so God literally brought me back to life from the dead for a fourth time! I was in a coma for three days after God restarted my heart, and I was very surprised to wake upl in the hospital because last thing I remember was being at home hanging out with my sister watching tv before that all happened. Now when I woke up after being in that coma for three days, it very much surprised me when I woke up… I was awake and alert as much as someone who just woke up from a coma can be.. I was awake for what seemed to be 10 or 15 minutes, then I passed back out and I was in another coma for another four days… I woke up and was in the hospital for an additional nine days before I was released to make sure I was stable and able to go home! And if that wasn’t enough… a few months ago back in January of this year 2024, I was at home, and I went unconscious and completely unresponsive because my body went septic due to a bladder infection… Yes, the very same life-threatening Pseudomonas Aeruginosa infection that killed me back in 2018. This time, the infection moved into one of my kidneys, and that’s what caused my body to go septic, and it stopped my heart as well again… I don’t know exactly how long my heart was stopped for, because, when God once again, literally breathed his life giving air and his life giving oxygen into my lungs and restarted my heart , I woke up in the hospital emergency room, and I didn’t know what was going on. I just remember waking up in the hospital and having to ask a nurse how I even got there and why I was there. I was in the hospital for about five days from what my dad told me. And once again, God showed me and showed my family that HE was with us and for us! He never gave up on me, and He was with me… Even in death, God was right there next to me, holding me in his hands and arms of might, strength, and love! No matter what I went through and no matter what I was going through… God was there! Even in my weakest moments… God was right there for me… Even when I didn’t know it, or feel it… God was right there! And I want you to know, that no matter what you may have been through or no matter what you may be going through… God is right there for you… You might not know it, and you might not feel it… But just like God was there for me and continues to be there for me, God is with you and he is there for you! From one human being to another, I love you… And more importantly, God loves you and is there for you… No matter what!
