A great career doesn't only consist of big titles, each career can be big in its own way. Alizé has really made the most out of her talent and always played better against the very best, a lot of top 10 victories and shock wins. A little drama now and then, but it was a testament to her love for the game and fighting spirit.

Cornet upset Swiatek at Wimbledon and was the first one who broke Swiatek's ~30+ winning streak. When the interviewer brought up her age, she smiled and said she ages like fine French wine, yes she does. She often shows up as different players depends on the weather 😃, but she is a fighter. Good luck to her future.

Is that correct? I didn’t watch her too much but to reach that many main draw slams in a row and have consistent results surely indicates that she made the most of her talent and had a top mindset, she didn’t have wildly differing results to say she underachieved. She didn’t drop her standard and have a big slump where she would drop out of the rankings either where she wouldn’t enter the slams. Cause you can see many other players not reaching the big highs, getting disappointed by that and having a big dip but she didn’t have that.

@@0nFoot Not true that, try asking the pros if they are able to even play / qualify for 69 grand slams in a row. Grand slam main draws are not a given, you have to qualify and be thereabouts to be in it. In addition, you have to be injury-free to most of the season to play in them. She is not the most talented and I don't think people ever expected her to be challenging for titles, but to just sustain the ranking points and play in that many grand slams in a row, it is very much commendable achievement from a career standpoint. Just ask some of the younger ones like Naomi Osaka, very talented, but could barely sustain the ranking points to qualify for grand slams. Not shitting on Osaka but just using her as an example. Having a great career is more than just winning titles, its about longevity at the top level too.

I am curious why you think this? She represented France at 4 Olympic Games and 27 Fed Cup/Billie Jean King Cup matches. She's just broken the record for most Grand Slam appearances in a row. Is it not natural for the French Tennis Federation to spend few minutes to say thank you to their longest serving player? Hope you enjoy the rest of the tournament. 🎾
