well, yeah... of course maybe at some point in the future yes. but trust me, i work in the field, doing research in EEG during movements (high quality 160 channel EEG not the pseudo-EEG stuff from emotiv), and it's already insanely hard to get real information out of regular EEG with conductive gel between the electrode and the scalp. there are dry electrodes, like the emotiv stuff, and other consumer products, and also some research grade EEG systems with dry electrodes, but as soon as you start moving, the artifacts in the EEG get just too big to control and filter them. even thinking of EEG data collection with electrical sensors from a distance, meaning not directly connected to the scalp, is just a ridiculous speculation likely for the next few decades or much more. BTW, the chess program's name is "Deep Blue" ;-)

There's no reason it couldn't cost $30 eventually, at higher production numbers and with a more competitive field. But it needs to have a proven usefulness for that to happen. Aaand no, cars obviously don't cost $300, in the simplest car there's thousands upon thousands worth of material and workmanship cost alone - it's a big and complex thing. What you get for $300 is an olde bucket which can cost thousands to repair in a few months - people are scared of such expenses, this is why they try to get rid of these things before they turn into money pits, before they have to pay to get rid of them. Also in many countries the car insurance costs at least that much a year.

+Mage Enderman ok, cool. I actually thought about it more, and with enough training I think you probably could get it to move a character without physically moving, like the car demo. It would just take a lot of training and it would be very easy to activate movement accidentally... So, yeah. Lots of training, but probably possible based on other videos I've seen on emotiv. Can't wait for this technology to be good in like a decade!

Shred Xorn because sword art online actually took place in a video game, if you haven't watched it I'd recommend it, it's on crunchyroll, hulu, Netflix, kissanime, etc. I watched most of it on hulu.

Shred Xorn the only thing that I found not believable in sao was the fact that there were only 10,000 players. Log horizon has the same issue, only 30,000 players. Most mmorpgs have over 100,000 players, and if sao is such a big deal that it's on the news and everything it would have far more players.
